Banned for Misconduct?

Okay on May 5th, I was sitting in the FM on my DK. The DK's name is MarkzDK. I then get disconnected and it says that I am banned until May
19th for misconduct. So I log a ticket to see what is up with that, and they say it is because my name goes against their Terms of Service? What is wrong with my name? Is it because it has my real name in it? Because if they just implement that into their terms of service, how do they expect us all to just change our names? It seems unjust to me. Discuss please.

Log a new ticket, quoting the old ticket, and ask for a specification of why your name is against their Terms of Service?

As part of the registration process, you will also be asked to select a username and password for your Account which you will use each time you access the Service. I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to have your real name as nickname, but, you know, NEXON's kinda crazy with those kind of things.

But seriously, MarkzDK is a very generic name for MapleStory. It's a bit of an eye opener o.O

If you read the ToS a certain way, no IGNs are legal, since it says you can't have an IGN that's a real word or part of a sentence (which is very weak; it could mean just two words), nor can you have an IGN that's "gibberish" (which could be read to include made-up names that are pronounceable, like mine and Kajitii's), nor can you have an IGN that's just numbers.

So I guess, technically, they can ban everyone on Maple whose IGN isn't a real name, that isn't the person's name in real life. o.O And that doesn't remind them of anyone famous. Or a drug. (Sorry, Mary Jane...)

I'm actually leaning more towards this. There's just no way they'd ban you for MISCONDUCT if your name is MarkzDK, unless they mistook it for plantain. You'd think the GMs would know the abberviations for classes. If this, in fact, the case - I feel bad for a lot of the Dragon Knights with "DK" in their name.

Another possible reason - they thought the "DK" was an abbreviation for Donkey Kong.

I have a screenshot of 100010101 or similarly named getting something last night.

Their prevalent method for dealing with names they consider inappropriate is to rename your character to something ludicrous. This is because fully banning the account will cost Nexon NX sales, and by renaming your character into something extremely bad they guarantee themselves a 10k namechange sale.

I have not heard of anyone get banned over a name in a long time; furthermore the person I last heard of getting banned for this was named something like DlCKslap, he was banned permanently, rather than a few days. This was roughly 1.5 years ago.

Finally, the only GM who adjudicating Maple could interpret the letters DK as meaning "plantain" instead of "Dragon Knight" either had a lobotomy or has literally zero experience with Maple Story.

Either you're not telling us all the facts concerning your ban, or you have banned wrongfully. Either way, convincing us of stuff will do nothing, you either need to go to Nexon or simply wait till the ban expires.

That's 9 digits, and typically the standard ASCII table uses 1 character for 8 bits (technically a character is 2 bytes though). Who has a name that's only 1 letter long? An SS of the person in question would be helpful.
