Sorry if this is in the wrong place but feel free to move it to the appropriate location if this is indeed in the wrong place. However, back on topic:
With this new "trade in leaves to get boss cards" quest that's done once a day, it gives many of us a chance to get boss PQ cards that we'd never otherwise have a chance at (Ex. King Slime, Papa Pixie, Alishar, etc.). However, on the other hand, it makes cards such as area boss cards very easy to get. Im not sure about some of you guys but I spent hours each day hunting area bosses to get the area boss cards I have (Eliza, Old Fox, Kimera) and really, it takes away from the "pride" of having the card.
Im not sure what other's peoples reason is to collecting cards, but I actually find hunting them fun and challenging, much more so than collecting leaves and trading them in for these cards. I know when I found my Old Fox card after doing in total perhaps 60 hours of Fox hunting, it felt really good as if "yes, I accomplished something!"... just buying cards kinda takes away from that feeling, as if I took a shortcut or whatnot.
My question is this: For those avid collectors out there, will you be going for purely cards that you cant get elsewhere (Ex. King Slime, Alishar, Lord Pirate, Papa Pixie) or will you just be grabbing whatever you can, regardless of boss type? Im asking this because Ive thought of both: on one hand, I can take the easy way out and get a bunch of bosses I'd probably spend months hunting every few hours to look for, or I can do it "the right way" (I dont mean that people who just buy them arent doing it the right way, Im just presenting that as another opinion) and hunt for them.
Tl;dr: Does using these leaves to get cards other than those you have no other way of obtaining cause you to infringe on your "Monster book integrity" (that makes it sound so much more serious than it actually is, LOL...for lack of a better term)?

I think you're taking it too seriously, but I am just collecting King Slime, Alishar, Lord Pirate, Papa Pixie, and Frankenroid. I don't hunt for monster cards but since there's no other way to get those 5 I might as well get them. Area boss cards can be found eventually, I guess.

If I have the time to, I plan on maxing as many of the PQ bosses as possible. I will not purchase any area bosses since I can get those myself, but for the sake of ease, I plan on getting one Crimson Balrog card too.
Currently 1 King Slime, 1 Alishar, 1 Lord Pirate.
Earned a Snowman card prior to this, so I can see what you mean, but when you think about it, people who are trading in just for the boss cards and not collecting others will show in their total card count anyway, so it shouldn't take off too much pride from a pure collector that a few more people have it. Just show off a "rare" regular card instead as your cover.

No, I don't think it ruins the integrity or anything like that. What would be stupid is if someone bought some of the area boss cards and tried playing it off like they found them from the boss itself. Trying to brag like that would be retarded. However, if people are clear which they bought and which they found normally, it's not a big deal at all.
Some people care only about getting at least one of every card, some people think it's only truly complete when you have the medal on the card...and others simply do not care at all. I say just do the monster book the way you want to do it. Worry about what matters to you. Feel bad about buying some of the cards? Then don't do it. But don't let it affect your judgment of others if they do want to buy them.

You're right, it does take away from the fact that boss cards used to be hard to get.
I'm going for all the pq bosses first, then if I max those before event ends, I'll probably go for the hardest ones to obtain, crog, rog, or w/e.

I had 11 unique specials before this event. I really don't care about anyone else's totals to a great extent. Thinking about it too seriously is just lol in the end.

I plan on getting all 5 of the 5 PQ bosses, ergoth (Because I can't really GPQ) and probably Crimson Rog. I do think it's a bit annoying but then again, I haven't been having such great luck with boss cards (60 hours of Old Fox hunting seems like a lucky break, I know I've spent at least as much at Zeno). Still, I think by buying them you're simply depriving yourself of cards to hunt in the future.

This event is a godsend. The droprate for those area boss cards is beyond ridiculous (for me anyway) and I REALLY don't have the time to spend camping in those maps all day. So with that said I'm going to snatch up one of each.
Besides, it's not like buying one of each will kill you. You still have to get 4 more of each boss.

I realized that and really, I couldnt think of a simpler way without all that elaboration, lol.
With that in mind, I was just curious to see what other people are doing while stating "as many sides of the argument as I can"
I was personally thinking one of each PQ boss, then 5 manons and 5 Griffeys, just to get their drop table (which is at 3-4 I think... and at that point, I might as well finish them).

I have a different "moral dilemma": is it right to buy PQ boss cards of bosses I'd never met?
I never did either lpq or opq, so I don't feel like I'm entitled to Alishar or Papa Pixie cards.
(I view the moster book as something of a record of my maplestory history, you see).
On the other hand I see nothing wrong with buying Old Fox cards, since I have killed her numerous times and the fact she never dropped a card is simply random chance. She could have. I'm "entitled" to that card.
However, practically, I intend to max PQ boss cards and not buy any area bosses. I will find those eventually, or not. Maybe buy them next year. No big deal either way.

I'll be buying all the PQ boss cards, then aiming for the super rare ones which I don't have time to hunt (Like Jr. Balrog)

You're seeing this from the same point of view as leech. Kinda like "cheating" to get those cards. I don't see anything wrong with this, though. Getting your own card is just personal pride, not something other people would experience if they just buy the card. So, does it matter?

I'd like to see monster book be interconnected between chars on an account, which reduces redundant collection and allows for pq-bosscard-get on higher level chars.

That would be an amazing idea. To bad I doubt Nexon would smart up and do that.
Really though, I just got my King Slime Card 30 minutes ago. I plan on getting all the PQ cards that I can right now because I frequent visiting Area Bosses and you never know your luck. So, Main goal is 5 of each the PQ bosses. Then getting the more hunted Area Bosses with the time I have remaining.
Also, this would be a nice event to have every so often. But I doubt this will come around again so I'll get whatever I can.

I'm gonna start with the PQ bosses, then get whatever else appeals to me. I don't know if I have the patience to collect all 29 cards (from what I hear Pap's drop is almost guaranteed anyway). Even with the increased availability of this event ("only 8000 leaves!") it's still a hell of a lot of time wasted per card.
I wouldn't have had them at all if I had to hunt area bosses...

Since I'm low leveled, I can't get all the cards, including some of the higher leveled PQ bosses. And since I'm probably not going to be doing any of those PQs, I'm pretty much screwed over in getting those. I really hope that this comes again next year... So I'm just going to max out the PQ bosses that I can, and then get at least one of every other choice I have.

I'm getting all the PQ cards first and some area boss cards. esp the ones in which i never am able to hunt due to how popular they are. i'd like to get leviathan but for 8k leaves i could get a few cards...
the large bosses are a waste to get unless you really think you'll never be able to reach the level acquired to join in on one. pap/pianus almost always drop a card.
