OMG are u serious? gimme a break they gotta start somewhere. Hell yes it took too long but u wanna complain now when they're actually doing something about them taking too long? If they still were doing nothing you'd still be complaining about them not fixing anything.

Private servers give players an alternative to the real thing, assuming there's an issue with the real game. Nexon should be more concerned with fixing their own damn game, then maybe their players will come back to them. A "real" game, that is well maintained, is always better than a private server. It's very outlandish for a gaming company to attack either area like Nexon AM has.
Going overboard? Creating a private server causes Nexon to compete with itself. No company wants that when they can have a full monopoly over their own copyrighted material.
Also, the "profit loss" from CEF is not necessarily from the promotion of private servers, but also of hacks in general. Hacks mean that it's just more code that Nexon has to patch, and that code costs Nexon money which results in the direct loss of profits.

Apparently you missed my point
I'm just questioning the fact why are they only acting now instead of sooner

Because they only just put that one no private servers/hacking clause in the terms of service.

They recently got a new boss and he has been making changes. You can't do everything overnight.

I wonder if Nexon has been browsing forums saving all the posts where people state they won't be purchasing NX till the hacking situation is fixed? >_>

Exactly. This reasoning is as flawed as the people who bitched about Obama not making any changes before it has even been his first 90 days in office.

Exactly. Some MS players expect things to be done, in a snap of the fingers. Things don't work like that, and I for one, am glad I have patience. Here's the link to the article concerning the new CEO, for those who care.

Nice, hopefully they go after the rest
They said there would be changes, they probably know it was bad to not go after them sooner, but that's just how it is. At least it's delt with now. It is a smart thing to attack the source rather than only banning them when they are seen ingame.

About freaking time they did this, really. Lol.
Good job. This won't stop the real hackers, but I don't have a problem with them because they are smart enough to draw their lines. Script Kiddies (or leechers) can go cry a river now ^^

Nexon wouldn't like the actual hackers either, but for us Maplestory players, it is the script kiddies that are annoying. They're the ones that are in every channel when you CC around at a place like duals or wolf spiders at night

In that it's going way out of their way. Both are, really. Any legal action would result in even more loss than if they just...didn't bother themselves with it, most likely. A noble cause, but a misguided one. Fix your game, then the problems usually work themselves out.
I think the DMCA is the probably the most ridiculous thing ever written. When you try to own digital media, problems arise. I'm not saying it's okay to pirate anything and everything, but there should be a different method of making sure everybody who creates digital media is adequately content with their reward. All these new lawyers and firms popping up representing intellectual property is stupid, the internet isn't something you can control on that level, try as they might.
EDIT: Why do people still call them script kiddies? No one really writes/uses AA scripts anymore. ;-;

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/script_kiddie
(derogatory) A (usually amateur) hacker who compromises files on others' computers or launches attacks on computer systems, using widely distributed computer programs or scripts, rather than using their own unique programs or scripts.
Basically, they don't deserve to be called anything more than that

while the new team in place seems to be making adjustments, these problems have been around for years now. which is why many in the community have the attitude that they do.
it'll be more so amazing if they continue trying after the summer season and trying to bring people/dollars in.

People don't sell mesos on eBay. eBay is supposed to delete any auctions of such because they recognize that you cannot sell electronic information that you do not own.

In the new digital millennium, intellectual property should deserve the copyright, and that extends as far out as digital data, even if they're nothing but 1s or 0s. Personally I see no other way to try to control this other than better encryption and whatnot. But there are always the professional hackers who are able to get by that. So Nexon has to at least act on the macro level and kill off what is actually hurting their profits first - hackers, meso sellers, abusers - all those who deter actual legit and paying (and non paying->potentially paying) players from enjoying the game. =\

I have to agree with you...but that brings us to a different topic. How long should those copyrights hold?
Initially copyrights (not for all countries) where valid for 50 years, then recently they got extended to 70 years and soon they are going to jump up to 95 years.
Maybe for a theatrical play or a book (so as the author not to loose money if a movie industry decides to make a movie out of the book)....50 years are justified but not for digital data. Extended copyrights destroys progress.
