Lloyd Korn shuts down MapleStory hackers.

Exactly, this won’t stop hacking just hamper its distribution. But if it helps stop every good map being overrun with arrogant ‘hackers’ (I use that term very loosely) then I’m all for it.

Anybody with basic math skills can hack MapleStory. :<

The only problem is, someone who isn't afraid/not under legal fire will probably just set-up another forum.

And it's amazing that they are. I hope Nexon keeps trying and fighting this crap. I hate that people encourage and perpetuate garbage like PSs and especially hacks.

Impressive.

Why the ranking sites? Why not just the PS's themselves.

Good to see those sites finally down though.

Well I think the biggest thing Nexon has on their side in this fight is Copyright infringement....being that the sites are distributing .wz files and such...its not all based on violation of the ToS...which we all know only applies in the use of nexon games...however when removing their files and altering them and redistributing them to the masses via the hackers sites and such...the person/persons begin to infringe on nexon's copyrights....its the same concept for sites that distrubute music...movies...games....they first go after the site owner...in hopes that the site owner will shut down without any arguement...when that doesnt work...they contact the site host...who typically will slam down a site without further arguement...most of the time they could simply go to the company or site that actually is hosting the files themselves...ie rapishare...megashare...and have the files deleted to stop distribution...same as they have done for the music...movies and games....:f6:

I'm neutral when it comes to P-servers, hacks, I'm against. Nexon's being serious, for once, lol. Gj!

They should keep the ranking sites up so they can just go down the list handing out letters to private servers telling them to shut down.

I don't think messing with Nexon was a good idea to begin with. I mean 'cmon, they own one of the world's LARGEST mmo's, which is practically its own country, and second, Nexon America has a partnership with MTV Networks (not that I think it helps). It's smart that they decided to go to the source instead of the in game hackers.

If you can't get rid of the wasps get rid of the nests. And if you can't get rid of the nests chop the damn tree down. Look's like nexon is taking charge.

No sense in crying over spilled "korn"..ha....ok that was bad.

Was waiting for months for Nexon to do this. Looks like that CEO is serious about improving their games.

I love me some Korn. Poast

No more script kiddies Glitter

Thing is, why didn't Nexon do this before, or was it because they couldn't? So if that's true, then does it mean the whole BRazilMS files being distributed fiasco gave Nexon the legal leverage it needed to take things a step further? So many questions.

Maybe this is why Assassinate 30 drops rarely. nexon hoarded it themselves and decided to use it...against hackers......ok i'll stop with the jokes.

They couldn't and they can't now.
Just a bunch of legal semantics bullshit.

They can, they can, trust me they can.

They did with OdinMS and they can with anyone else.
#38
And only now they go after CEF and other hacking forums when a few months ago they decided to come after us for doing nothing. It's good that Nexon's finally acting against them, but still, why only now?
#39
Hmmm.....they banned thousands of characters, postponed patch .69. Started shutting down hacking/hacking/P-server forums/sites. Added 2x.....Seems like this year's Anniversary might be very good, actually even better I meant. Let's hope they don't drop the ball or miss the follow-through. All's looking good.

All they have to do is remove content/links related to private servers.
You can't harass outside of the game for memory editing. Goggleemoticon

It's a temporary change that stops whenever you log off, and I believe they'd be quite hard-pressed to find proof that it hurts their profit (and again, they screw themselves when they say they have profit loss, yet it's "free to play"), or violates any intellectual property laws to memory edit. :|

I'm fine with this shutting down the hacking websites, but the private servers is still going a little overboard. Private servers give players an alternative to the real thing, assuming there's an issue with the real game. Nexon should be more concerned with fixing their own damn game, then maybe their players will come back to them. A "real" game, that is well maintained, is always better than a private server. It's very outlandish for a gaming company to attack either area like Nexon AM has.
