Man I have the worst luck...6+ hours at Flowerfish and still no card, 4+ hours at Blins and no card, 4+ hours at Hoguls before I got a card...oh and over 300 Liches and no Card...I'll update my list later...if I ever get another card.

It took me over 9000 Leatty's for their card.

Small update for today

+ 1 Leatty Card (Over 9000 killed for their pineappling card)
+ 1 Grizzly (Took WAY LESS)
+ 1 The Book Ghost
+ 1 Straw Target Dummy
+ 1 Wooden Target Dummy.

So.. 132 Different cards 1 Special card, 267 cards total.

lol I got my leatty card in 5 minutes...then I got another a few days later passing through the "Snowy Hill" map. The drop rate doesnt make sense... was at Grupins for 4 hours and got nothing (not even a drop) then when it finally did drop, a second dropped 5 seconds later.

Cards should drop as often as those damn silver chests...

Monster cards are one of the things Nexon has finally done completely right. The drop rate is perfect. Some cards are found quickly with luck, some cards are found in less than an hour of hunting and some cards REALLY PISS YOU OFF. It makes cards actually MEAN something to hunt and collect, like so few things in MS now. If they dropped frequently, what would be the point of getting them? Woo I have a complete monster book after a few days! Uh, yeah, no.

The only thing I don't feel is quite right is the area boss cards' drop rate. I feel it should be upped a bit, so that their rate is between big bosses' and normal monsters'. Though it's not such a big deal--it makes area boss cards truly a prize to have.

yep, gotta agree with you. You can buy your way to anything else now, Zakum Helms, HT Pendants, Naricain Marks, whatever else... But you're not getting the card without some work. For the occasional card that drops after only 20 minutes there are at least 3 that take me 6+ hours...or wont even drop. I'd say a conservative guess is that it is taking me 3+ hours per Card. Oh and Mages spaming their Ulits have a huge advantage over the rest of us as well.

But that's because you're you. You complain and see things negatively 'cause it's in your very blood! Even if you hunt purely with 2x drop cards, it'd still take a long time to get a complete book. It'd just be less of an accomplishment...I guess. It doesn't bother me if people want to hunt some cards with 2x drop. It's not the same as buying your way into everything else in MS, at the very least.

Is there even any proof of that KMS/JMS having higher card drop rates than us? Seriously? I've only see a crapton of hearsay, thus far, and no results to prove it. Heck, look at the JMS guy competing with us in this thread. He's already falling behind.

Yeah, lots of cards have held me up for hours too. So what? I think it's frustratingly fun. It feels SO rewarding when you finally find it. I LOVE THAT. This game is actually fun again. If you want everything quick and easy, why are you card hunting? Why are you playing MS?

And finally, the "MAGES HAVE UNFAIR ADVANTAGE OVER US, BAWWW ULTIMATES" statement is stupid. No, they don't even. Yes, in some maps they certainly have the killing speed advantage. So what...goodness. I can kill a helluva lot faster than mages in MANY maps due to my power, speed and mobility.

My hubby gifted it to me once and I only managed to get 5 cards in that 4 hours, 2 of which were not even collected by me.

I sincerely believe 2x drop does nothing for monster card drops. The first day it came out, I bought a 4 hour card as well as a few days after - got another one to test out the rates. I get as many cards with it as I do without.

I'm not THAT lucky. Look at it this way, the last couple days before going to bed it says I've been playing 15+ hours. I don't actually play that entire time but a gross majority of it I do. Based on the last few days I get ~17 cards a day, which is like... nearly a card an hour. 1 card every 45 minutes, even, which is still not a lot. Clearly others are having a worse time but this is still by no means a spectacular drop rate.

Edit: and shame on you for accusing me of being on 2x when you get daily 2x events that your company doesn't screw up, haha.

Yeah, thats true, but I can only partake on two of them every week unless I have a holiday... plus it lasts only 1 hour.

People In Japan can do 14 of those every week if they play everyday. (There are two sessions, one is from 4am-5am, and the 2nd one is at 7:30am-8:30am EDT [my time])

The vast majority of Maplers dont care one whit about Monster Book...and there is no incentive for them to care.

The ones who were interested soon gave up because they havent found any cards after 10 minutes...they collect them more by accident and surprise than purposely looking for them. Only the insane few like myself are actively hunting them.

So you are happy to look for 10, 20, 100 hours to find the 5 books you need to complete one monster?

I was really looking forward to Monster Book, especially seeing the drop table for each Monster...but then I saw that it requires 4 cards...pineapple that, no way am I going to spend weeks doing that per monster.

Monster Book has been one of Maples biggest disappointments to me.

Really, which maps.

Flat maps, for one. Any decent maps with monsters I can 1 hit? On lots of compact or flat maps I can kill the entire spawn before it respawns, which is the peak speed. Mages, at most, can match that--not surpass it. Obviously ultimates are gonna beat me at Ludi/Leafre maps or others with tons of obscure platforms. But so what? I don't see why people try to say mages have such an unfair advantage at the monster book over other classes. They don't... I can destroy most maps very fast for a lot cheaper than mages. I think I win.

SarahBam, for example. She is doing so good because she has a lot of time to commit to this and very good luck to boost it. She doesn't have so many cards because she has an ultimate. Anyone who would attempt to discredit her accomplishment because she's a mage class is butthurt.

And Chameleonic is just disappointed by everything MS related. That's a given.
