[GMS] The Maple Mentor Program
#61
ItzTaylor Wrote:Source: http://forum.nexon.net/MapleStory/forums...px#2587229 Wink

What the hell? I just read the notice from hime today, and they already chose 4 guides?

Did spadow extract this or what? :f6:

Edit: I guess they think lvl 200 = more time to serve as a "Guide"

This is probably just to get it started. I doubt all of them signed applications, and Hime read them all and approved.

More then likely, they were a handful of the highest levels that have been around for a while, chosen at random.

Later on they will probably choose more people by applications.

That's my guess. Wink

@Kajitii, lmfao

S> Mentor account.

I have a 70+ in a different server, except I have higher levels in the server I really play in.

I hope that means I can act like I play in Yellonde, and really go to Khaini.

Things like this is why I was hoping for 150+

Even if they did sell their Mentor accounts, they would have the risk of getting their normal accounts banned if the person they sold the Mentor account to abuses their privileges.

Selling normal accounts is already forbbiden, so selling a mentor account should be even more. No need to wait for the buyer to abuse it. They will surely ban both (main and mentor) before that happens

Extra long ban to the original Mentor too. How Nexon will catch wind of what you describe is a little bit of a mystery, unless they specifically ask that you only sign on under one IP. But regardless, Mentor character abusing powers = ban anyways xD

Read the entire thing, guys. These "Mentors" are like elder players and are not related to the GM-assistant Guides. (They say at the top of the Guides post that they changed it from Mentors.)

I can't say I blame you for being shocked, though. I was the first time I read it.

Also, to those thinking of conspiring, trading Guide accounts, etc.: Remember that when you get caught they will ban your main account as well as booting you from the program. Do you think they don't read SouthPerry? Good luck with that.... Rolleyes

Yay for the highest levels of the most popular classes? And yay for them sounding like little children? Oh yes, I want to trust them to be unbiased at any teenage year.

And maybe it's just me, but I have Never, and I mean Never, had a high level help me or be nice. It's usually something along the lines of "you're too noob to know because you're noob. gtfo," etc.

I can see this falling through real fast. Tongue

They can't fairly associate the actions of someone on a forum with those of a character in-game, as there is no way to 100% prove a connection.

No shizzy? I used the abuse example because I know Nexon can't use their psychic powers to know that the person playing the account isn't really the person who owns it. You make it seem like they are capable of using these psychic abilities though.

And no one said they would sell their accounts. We basically brought up the fact, just to give you a taste of what noobs from Basil Market will be doing. I don't think people here are that stupid.

Go read through the thread again, cause I don't think you even did. Thanks.

If this turns out to be a much larger group of people and they don't announce every single person AND they don't have an expectation on work hours (hell they aren't paying), I might be willing to apply and throw in an hour or two here and there helping them out. I've done the GM thing before though, not that great; but then it wasn't on a game I had really "played" before nor was it an RPG.

Still, if I feel like it, I'd be willing to help here and there.

-Hime- changed the name of the topic to "The Maple Guide Program," and now you can post in the thread on the Nexon forums.

...Because there's obviously a lot less people with 150+ characters on multiple servers as opposed to just one? lern2obvious

Quote:Those accounts have very minimal abilities and no player will be allowed to volunteer on same sever(s) they play on to prevent abuse or biased actions.

I understand why they are doing that since you would get some pricks that would try and ban people for petty disputes they had. Call me selfish if you want but I would rather clean up the server I am playing on than cleaning up some other server I don't even use.

Quote:Should we ever find a Guide abusing any privileges, s/he will be immediately removed from the program and their play accounts suspended.

While I trust myself not to abuse the 'powers' that would be given I don't trust Nexon to not mistakenly think I am abusing them and ban my account. We all know how good Nexon are at banning innocent people. So no thanks I think I’ll skip out on this and let others be guinea pigs. I don’t fancy having my account banned.

Quote:be in our service area.

I guess I couldn't sign up anyway. But I’m only technically not allowed to play Global.

3 = a bunch? just 75% of all of them. The other's 185, lol.

That high level thing is related to the mentor thread somewhere else on the forums, but is not related to this thread. The mentor thread just allowed newbies to ask questions to some pros. They changed the name of the "Maple Mentor Program" thread, the one discussed here, to the "Maple Guild Program."

Quote:Those accounts have very minimal abilities and no player will be allowed to volunteer on same sever(s) they play on to prevent abuse or biased actions.

I seldom add my input in South Perry but I feel there's another angle to consider here.

Let's say you're a Guide of your own server and from how things are being done, people knows you're a Guide. You know you're not going to abuse your (limited) powers. But one day, you just so happen to catch your most hated nemesis in the act of sending monsters flying across the screen. You report it and he got banned.

Then you found his buddies, whom you didn't really like, sending more monsters flying across more screens, and got them all banned. He and his buddies knows the Guide of that server is you and thinks you're out to get them, and spread malicious rumours that you're a biased SOB.

Yeah, you and (depending on how good they are with things) the GMs know that's not true, but the public don't. Fact is that you disliked the dude, you're the Guide of the server, and he and his buddies got banned because you reported them. Regardless of the percentage of the public believing the story, as long as it's out there and people has the littlest doubts about the Guide program, the damage is done.

If Nexon had thought about this, I do think it can be part of why it's better to keep the Guides off their own server. Not that the same won't happen if you're a Guide in another server, but you're a lot less likely to have a hated nemesis in another server that you're not majoring in.
