As the title says, what's an anime that you didn't quite fancy yet everyone else seemed to go gaga for? And I mean it has to be ones that you thought you were painful to watch, so try to watch out for over rated/hyped animes that you still liked in the end. Otherwise, I'd list Lucky Star, Clannad, Geass, Bleach, Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, ef - a tale of memories, maybe Evangelion, maybe the second half of Full Metal Alchemist, and others here.
Let's see, let's see, what shall I put here....
Spoiler
Elfen Lied - I'll admit, I thought it was interesting the first time I saw it. A few years have passed since then and after re-watching a majority of it to remember what it was about beyond "Cool, there's gore!", I hated it.
Strawberry Panic! - At least everyone else I've seen that's watched it seemed to love it at any rate. *sigh*
Loveless - Again, all of my friends that have seen it liked it.
Air - Only watched further for Potato.
Kanon - Only watched for Yukarin's character and oddly enough, her arc was the only one I kind of liked. So, yes, I dislike Ayu, Makoto, Shiori, and the other girls.
True Tears - Maybe I just can't connect with these kinds of romance drama stories.
Potemayo
Claymore - Teresa's arc was the only good thing.
Gantz
Inu Yasha - Maybe the dub ruined it.
Kanokon - I think most people that watched it liked it at any rate. Wasn't a guilty pleasure and I cried when Shindou Naomi was Chizuru's mother.
Excel Saga
Naruto - First arc was fine and then it got.... lengthy and boring.
PaniPoni Dash - A lot of it was actually painful for me to watch. The rabbit was the only thing that kept me watching, despite having not a lot of screentime.
DNAngel - One of the twins won a j-saimoe, so it has to have been popular, right?
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - Yes, I said it. I honestly didn't like TTGL and if people didn't tell me to keep watching, I would have dropped it at around episode five.
[Insert popular harem animes here, even School Days] - I really cannot stand harem animes, ugh.
Edit:
Screw you lot and all this typical Bleach and Naruto hating.
Watch more anime. Or something. Fcuk, time for a sequel.
Only one I can really say is School Rumble. Felt too dragged out, and overused too much of the same joke over and over again. (Coming from someone who watches One Piece (350+ episodes))
Gantz... I dunno if everyone else enjoys it. I just cant stand it - it makes me sick watching it.
Elfen Lied. I will never understand why anybody thought it was such an amazing anime. The manga was sub-par as well. There was nothing remotely enjoyable about the gore or nudity in it.
acev Wrote:I belive this has more to do with taste of anime. Some people feel the anime isn't what they enjoy, and some people actually like it.
I love drama / slice of life type anime, and as a result, I generally enjoy all anime like Clannad, Air, etc.
It could be, like how I hate harem animes, but I feel odd about some of the ones I dislike.
I don't mind mecha, but I didn't like TTGL, which apparently grabbed some attention from people that didn't like mecha. If you think I disliked it for the ZOMG GAR or whatever it was with the shouting, I liked Busou Renkin.
I don't care much for violence and actually enjoy it sometimes, but I didn't like Elfen Lied. Nudity didn't ruin it, either.
I like comedies, lolis, and school girls, but I didn't like PaniPoni Dash, yet I loved Hayate no Gotoku. The weirdest thing of all is that I watched the show for the rabbit and I typically hate rabbits.
Friends kept talking about Excel Saga. I love random comedies, but this was one of the very few series I've actually dropped.
Going with school girls and my love of yuri, I hated Strawberry Panic, but adored MariMite. Maybe I just like implied yuri in my animes....
Comedies are usually hate or love anyway, so what can you do.
It is kind of unfair for me to dislike a majority of romance/drama I've seen when I don't seem to really connect with the whole romance thing, although I did like Nana and thought ef was okay. I'm apparently heartless when there are no lolis around because I haven't cried watching any anime.
Played out >.>:
FLCL
Naruto (Loves the manga though)
Bleach
Samurai Champloo (I love it <333 but it's still played out imo.)
Prince Of Tennis.
Ruroni Kenshin/Samurai X (Love these tooooo but they're played out =/.)
and of course DB/DBZ/GT.

AirGear ftw<3.
Bleach almost makes it to decent (fights are nifty), can't stand the latter two. Aside from those, though, I like basically any anime I watch. Probably the only genres I haven't seen are hentai and BL, lol.
I hate about 99.9% of all Harem animes. I don't see how anyone can like these (Except School Days...if you want to call that a Harem anime). I hate super srs bsniz animes (pineapple you, Gundam 00). But none of those compare to my hate for Lucky Star. I hate this anime with a fucking bloody passion. Words cannot describe this kind of hate! I watched the first 10 minutes of the first episode, and honestly, I'd rather drink acid and tear off my balls.
Kind of saddens me I'm mostly seeing hate toward the really "mainstream" animes, ie - most shounens apparently, and not anything else, like someone disliking NHK ni Youkoso! or ARIA.
I should have seen it coming, though.

School Days is definitely a harem anime. It's just different from your typical harem anime, which is probably why I think you seem to like it. Makoto wasn't Mister Oblivious Nice Guy and the ending was probably what really set it apart from other animes in its genre.
Lucky Star picks up at around episode five. I think everyone that says it's pomegranate drops it before then and I can completely understand why. It really doesn't deserve as much attention as it's getting but it has a) Hirano Aya as one of the main characters and b) KyoAni. *sigh*
Well, while Lucky Star definitely isn't for everyone. (How many people actually enjoyed the first 4 episodes?) Like Jean (^) sed, it picks up at ep 5, because the director doing it until then was actually fired because of "performance issues" (Basically, it was telling him - "You suck as a director")

No way, School Rumble is HILARIOUS, many of those scenes made me crack up coz it's like sooo random.
My favorite anime/manga are: Naruto, One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist
I like all the anime I watch and manga I read, the only anime/manga I dislike are sci-fi genre ones. Yu Gi Oh is kinda lame too (no offense or anything).
