Lag Issue

Hi, I'm not tech wiz and I have this lag that never goes away on Maple on my computer that runs Windows Vista. May I get some help why it still lags? My Windows XP computer which is about 3 years old is just fine >_>. I'll list my computer's basic information if it helps.

Please just say so if I need to specify anything else. I really need help resolving this lag so I can sell leech again on Maple

vista just sucks, is there a way you can upgrade it to xp?

if not try the running as admin or something like that i have heard it helps.

I looked up your computer model and it told me a different processor unit than the one you listed.

Also... why didn't you list your Graphics Card? That's probably the most important thing to consider, aside from the processor. In my really short digging spree, I found out it should have NVIDIA GeForce 6150, which is considered to be on the low-end of the gaming cards. Since it is type 6 out of 9 (9 being the newest), I'd guess it is fairly old model for current times. Without much expert knowledge on computers, and given what you've told us, I'd lay the blame on your Graphics Card.

Last but not least... describe in great detail what you mean by lagging. Is it skipping frames or something, resulting in rocky fps?

I do run it as admin. The lag is present on bigger maps but hardly noticeable on smaller maps. On my computer with xp it doesn't lag at all. But idk if I can downgrade to xp.

Yeah that's exactly what I mean by lag. On some big maps it skips frames and has rocky fps like you said. Like I can't move to the right spot to spam blizzard at Jr. Newties. x.x

I have fps problems on my old laptop. It took ages to work out what the problem was.

In the end, it turned out that either the graphics card was overheating, or the computer thought it was, so its performance was being dropped to protect it, which caused a lower frame rate (Sometimes when it was really bad it would get down to 8 - 10)

As Kajiti stated, Nvidia 6xxx series isn't exactly that ideal for use for gaming. That combined with the fact that its also an integrated graphics card makes for a not so good combination. If you want to attempt to alleviate a bit of stress the graphics card puts your RAM through, you can visit my stick thread to solving vista issues. Near the bottom I have a section on allocating memory on your harddisk for use as RAM. At least this way, maplestory will have as much RAM as it wants and wont need to compete for it.

This wont fix the issue completely, and in fact the change might not be noticeable... it's situational really. As Kajiti stated, you could use a better graphics card. At least you're using a desktop and not a laptop. It's much easier :3. But those things cost moneys. I wouldn't be able to tell you a specific price though.

Ohh thanks. I tried your suggestion of allocating memory and found it somewhat helpful. The game runs a little bit better.
