I think what they should do is give a notice that in two weeks, they'll delete all accounts that haven't been played on in over 6 months, so people could have time to tell their friends that quit and such that if they want to keep their accounts to log on. And I checked yesterday, about 7 million characters, and 3 million are about 16 or less.

Their temporary DB running out of space doesn't mean they're out space any where else, or even in jeopardy of it. It just means the database tried a single transaction that was so intensive it couldn't allocate space fast enough to reverse it if it had to. It's a very common error for a poorly configured server.

Nah, they released a patch quickly enough for it that it's still heavily used, although what's amusing is the version of MSDE available for download is unpatched, so unless you download both it and sp3 or 4 and try running it you're basically worm-food.

It's really not at all surprising Nexon is using a micrsoft flavor of sql given that their website is running on IIS serving ASP.NET pages, may as well go for a MS Trifecta, right?

Quite sure then Nexon uses Windows Servers, which requires a contract for commercial use. Given in the contract, Nexon is forced by Microsoft (and any other business that uses them) to use all Microsoft products. Which is why a lot of people are getting tired of the Windows operating system, but you already knew that!
