BoA meets Maplestory!
#21
Shes not my style of music, but im suprised by Nexon's initiative, this isnt a bad event, they took something many maplers enjoy doing (making MMVs, look at youtube >.>) and worked an event around it with a pretty popular artist, kudos Nexon.

Nothing against her, she's a great singer. But BoA + gMS is just... lol. x_x;; How unexpected. It's a good way to promote her though, more so for her than it is for gMS.

WOW. "Just because she's Asian"? She's one of the most popular Korean singers (good Japanese songs, too) and has been for quite some time. She's not just some random Asian. And I'm not sure if you knew this, but MS is actually an Asian (Korean) game. BoA's Korean. WHOA. What a crazy coincidence.

She has a large fanbase and suits MS well. Would you recommend MS get some rock band that doesn't suit MS in any way, shape or form? But they'd be "good," right?

This thread is frickin' retarded. BoA doing something for MS is no big deal at all--and she's a good choice, anyway.

This is MapleGlobal last time I checked, the American and Canadian version. A good choice for MapleStory Korea, but MapleGlobal, no way. All I'm saying is don't get an artist no one knows, yet alone a type of music a lot of people wouldn't like. Not the smartest move by NEXON, but that's their problem.

Why get an artist no one knows and judging from this thread, doesn't like, to host a contest for an MMV? She didn't even look interested in the video spot. I'm sure some band would be interested if they liked the game--but MapleStory has turned into such a whore house I'm not surprised they couldn't do better.

Most games come from asia anyway, so it's not exactly the same thing.

what do other games have to do with this at all? nexon probably has more connections in korea than in the USA. of course they're going to get a korean artist for endorsement instead of an american one.

*looks at Coke town*

However, this post has absolutely no relevance. Really, it hasn't. And I'm not ironic. At all.

Ok, that sounded ironic, but really, it wasn't. In fact, I'm starting to regret posting this in the first place Sad

Comparing a korean game coming to america isn't the same thing as a korean singer coming to america (going back and forth anyway) because most games come from asia (korea), while most artists do not.

That's why people think it's weird. Especially since it's a foreign artist taking part in an event for a demographic that isn't part of asia. You'd think that the artist would come from the states or something. Not that it really matters to me, since i'm not making a movie for this.

Lolepopmusic. LoleMMV.

I guess MMV makers will have fun with this one. Not that I care about their product...

I wonder who paid who...

Anyway, I don't like her music, but it's a good idea for an event.
Since lots of people in gMS like this kind of music... And people have this obsession with MMV's...

sure, the idea of a korean singer promoting a game in america might be new, but it doesn't mean my comparison is invalid. regardless of how often it happens to OTHER games, it doesn't change the fact it's happening on maplestory and it makes sense.

boa recently released her english debut album. she's looking for more ways to advertise in the USA. what better way to introduce a korean artist to the american world than through a korean game with a decent amount of popularity in the USA?
