Liar Tree Sap 100%

I don't know how you can so consistently fail to grasp reality when it comes to glitches. God knows what Nexon's intentions really are, but I can say with reasonable certainty that Nexon did not intend to release untradeable Branch noses marked as ???? ???, correct their mistake, and then proceed to release godly scrolls for them many months later as part of an event. Think about that. Does that even make sense? o_o

The branch noses are identical in functionality to the Maple leaves from the Maple Leaf event. Thus, I'd assume that the branch noses are intended to be used in an identical fashion: an interesting diversion for a free stat boost for a week, with chances of getting a better stat boost by redoing the quest and getting lucky. They're not intended to allow people to scroll untradeable 20+ stat face accessories Goggleemoticon

That's because I have a strong belief in what's known as "innocent until proven guilty". Unless Nexon clearly states that this is a glitch, it is not.

No of course not. I'm saying that the whole event was a glitch, and that Nexon didn't make the tree branch noses for the event any different from the ones obtainable from Gachapon. If the tree branches from the event are glitched, then the ones from the Gachapon are not. Thus, one could rationalize saying that the tree saps were indeed supposed to work on the gachapon branches.

Yes. It's merely you misinterpreting what I'm saying that causes what I write to not make sense.

Don't assume things unless backed up with sufficient evidence. For now, just assume what's safe to assume and that because Nexon released it in such a style, it's safe to say.

Also, whos to say that you didn't actually chaos your Branch nose as opposed to using a tree sap on it? There's no way to do an item purge on this.

Another way to say this is that Nexon should've opened Tespia to test these but they didn't. Thus we can say that what they release are final, though subject to change, final.

No, because as Isaac or somebody said, this event's been in other versions that haven't had the Gacha ?? nose.

Really, your innocent until proven guilty bs seems more an excuse than an actual reason. Seems that common sense isnt proof enough for you. As Ive said before, are you a child? Do you need EVERYTHING explained to you in pure black and white terms before you believe it? Do you REALLY have no ability to think for yourself that things are okay to do till they clearly say you cant? Does your mom really have to tell you "Do not throw my Green and white sweater into that mud puddle 3 meters in front and to the left of our front door gate" for you to know not to do it?

With that in mind, cant I throw a cliche right back at you? "Better safe than sorry" If you're not sure, then take the safe route; dont do it and have no risk of getting banned/losing your item at all. If you threw your mom's sweater into the puddle and answer her with "You never told me not to", does that mean you're off the hook? Better not mess around with your mom's sweater in case she doesnt want it dirty.

That aside, I'm pretty sure the game doesnt work as "innocent till proven guilty", as EVERY single glitch you've exploited has ended up with it indeed being a glitch.

"BIGFOOT ISNT A GLITCH TILL THEY SAY IT IS!@31!@@!@$!@#!" ...well... they announced it as so

"CLEAN SLATE IS NOT A GLITCH CAUSE NEXON MADE NO ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT IT@@@@@"...they never made an announcement about it but it doesnt work anymore. If it WASNT a glitch, you'd think they wouldnt fix it, no?

I dont know, but by past experience, some of us here can say that you claiming it not to be a glitch is proof enough that it is a glitch.

As Ive said, hasnt this event been released in KMS/other versions before us like most events of this manner? Have their saps worked on their gachapon tree branches? Im pretty sure they didnt or else this wouldnt be a discovery at all like it seems the way its mentioned here by some people. If they didnt work there and work here, is that enough "proof" to call it a glitch?

Quote:Also, whos to say that you didn't actually chaos your Branch nose as opposed to using a tree sap on it? There's no way to do an item purge on this.

Do you know anyone who's chaos'd their tree branch? The simple answer will be for nexon to just purge all these branches, then have whoever actually chaos'd their nose go complain; do you know anyone who's chaosed their nose for more strength? I certainly dont.

Quote:Another way to say this is that Nexon should've opened Tespia to test these but they didn't. Thus we can say that what they release are final, though subject to change, final.

Tespia wouldnt help; As seen in the testings last year, even when people reported the bugs, they just imported the said bugs directly to GMS (Pet looting glitch, broken quests, mispellings, etc.).

Edit:

Quote:I don't think using 150+ tickets without any luck is cheaper than buying a white scroll...

You missed the point there... How much I spent is irrelevant, as are the motives. I wasnt gaching 150 tickets to get the nose to gach. In fact, I havent touched gach tickets since this event started. I wanted the nose for the stats it added: 4 str and a potential 0-10 dex from 60/70% scrolls. People buy the white scrolls with intention to glitch them, I buy the tickets with the intention of using the item for what its actually supposed to be used for.

I prefer to think of this as an oversight. It'd be really hard to classify this as a glitch if you think about trying to prevent this glitch while keeping the original system that makes MS run correctly.

You're right, common sense isn't enough for me. That's because common sense is just an explanatory label used for rationalizing "simple" things. The reason common sense is a failure explanation for anything is that it is not reliable. For something to be reliable, everyone, or the vast majority of the people, must be able to accept it. The mere fact that people may have different common senses makes me disregard it as an explanatory style, thus, truly the only way to explain is with objective data.

Your first example with the "Better safe than sorry" can apply, but not all people care about being safe. If you want to apply this to your analogy, then you could just tell your mother that it fell in the puddle by accident.

Really though, the analogy with your mother's sweater doesn't apply, because that's just disregarding politeness, and you are affecting another person. For the analogy to work, the ownership of the sweater must shift to yourself. The branch noses, after all, are untradeable. Let's say then, if you throw your own sweater into the puddle, then would you say "better safe than sorry"?

1) The bigfoot glitch wasn't a glitch until they declared it a glitch. Only people gaining more than a certain ratio of exp gain after the announcement were banned for misconduct, and even so, misconduct bans don't take you off rankings.

2) Clean slate glitch is a glitch because by fixing it, Nexon implies that it's a glitch. By what you said with the "better safe than sorry" logic, they would surely ban you for glitching. However, they decided to look the other way. I have yet to hear of someone getting banned for +6 capes, but if I get banned when they unlock my cape two weeks from now, I'll believe you.
Retalion Wrote:I dont know, but by past experience, some of us here can say that you claiming it not to be a glitch is proof enough that it is a glitch.
I'm not proving it's a glitch or not. I'm saying it should be labeled as a nonglitch as opposed to a glitch.

There are two things wrong with this. First, KMS/other versions might have different gacha noses (either named differently or shaped differently), or their gacha noses may have different IDs. The second thing wrong with this is that their tree saps MIGHT have worked on the noses, but nobody here has found whether they had or had not, thus, everyone assumes that they work properly. A classic example of this is the case of whether or not people in JMS were supposed to be able to egg all three slots of their HTPs. It took quite a while to find out whether or not they were able to do it, and then form an explanation other than just screaming out "GLITCH".
Retalion Wrote:Do you know anyone who's chaos'd their tree branch? The simple answer will be for nexon to just purge all these branches, then have whoever actually chaos'd their nose go complain; do you know anyone who's chaosed their nose for more strength? I certainly dont.
Nexon only does item purges for hacking, they don't do it for glitching. They did it for the duping that went on in the past, but they didn't do it for the clean slate glitch. They probably won't for this either. After all, that would be a direct attack at people who use their gachapon, or people who buy NX in general. It'd just be bad business.
Retalion Wrote:Tespia wouldnt help; As seen in the testings last year, even when people reported the bugs, they just imported the said bugs directly to GMS (Pet looting glitch, broken quests, mispellings, etc.).
As one of the GMs said, many of the testers in tespia were telling them about things completely unrelated to the content. They were receiving tickets such as "OMG I got selected", or "Can you talk to me in game about my account", or some other variation of that. Thus they used an autoreply system to detect certain words, and I speculate that at the end of the last testing, they didn't even bother reading because they were overloaded with useless comments.

A very logical way of preventing this is by screening the players instead of choosing them at random, but that's too bad that Nexon chose to randomize Tespians that eventually led to the fall of that server.

I just figured that they copied the exact same stats and properties as the branch nose in gach and then just set the time limit on it. Two different versions of the nose (one expires, one doesn't) with the exact same properties, and thus the oversight on the scrolling thing.

I think what Retalion is trying to get at is you being honest. You're taking a very American version of "ignorance", meaning you'll still play by the rules, but you'll be "baiting" the regulators quite a lot to the point that they might just say "screw you, banplz". Of course that obviously doesn't happen... yet.

Harrisonized Wrote:1) The bigfoot glitch wasn't a glitch until they declared it a glitch. Only people gaining more than a certain ratio of exp gain after the announcement were banned for misconduct, and even so, misconduct bans don't take you off rankings.

Just wait until something much more serious comes along.

Let's say there's some hydrochloric acid in a Sprite can. I'll tell you it's really Sprite, then you'll drink it. Then you'll say "this isn't Sprite!" Then I'll say "It is Sprite, because I declared it to be Sprite. It's even labeled on the can!"

Let's take a more precise scenario. Glitches are specific scenarios where people tend to and should avoid them. If you don't agree with that for some reason, I'll gladly make another comparison to counter your new claims. Kkz, now the scenario. You are quietly enjoying yourself on the beach, intending to soak up as much vacation relaxation as you can. You take some bottled water from your SUV to drink. You suspect that it looks a little funny, but you can't exactly tell what. Whatever, it's vacation, don't worry about it, and you really want a nice, cool drink anyways. After taking a few gulps, you sit back down on the lounge chair on the beach. You turn on the radio and hear a report by the FDA that details food poisoning outbreak of Cryptosporidium in AquaPod-brand bottled drinking water. Hearing that the disease is related to bottled water, you take a look at your bottle, and find it is AquaPod brand! The advisory further states not to drink bottles that have a certain product number (yes, food products do have these) or any bottles that have a slight brown tinge to them, in case there are more shipments of water that have been contaminated. Oh, that's what that strange quality was. The bottle of water you have has a slightly brown tinge! You couldn't tell before because the sand was somewhat brown and tan.

The radio further describes the symptoms of Cryptosporidium. You do NOT look forward to having a vacation with nasty diarrhea. (if AquaPod is an actual brand, then I'd like to say this was made up on the spot.)

Relating the "it's not a glitch until Nexon says it is" belief, you'd better ask the people who got banned for buying dupe White Scrolls. I mean, really, someone has over a hundred of them in a shop, and you suspect they were gotten by illegal means, but there's nothing else saying that buying them is wrong. Bad mistake.

Except there aren't 2 versions, they put the event item in gach without an expiry time. It used to be called ??? ??, now it's called Tree Branch Nose and is from a quest and expires.

I think the reasonable response is to purge all Tree Branch Noses after April 8th (or when they would normally have expired - not sure when this is).

Dont you see the irony here? Just as common sense is a "failure" explanation, as is "innocent until proven guilty".

"For something to be reliable, everyone, or the vast majority of the people must be able to accept it"...that's hypocritical to a sense, no? After all, MOST if not All -1 (everyone except you) believed that clean slating was a glitch, yet you still insisted it wasnt for the longest time.

At the same time with the innocent until proven guilty idea, once you ARE found guilty, you are punished/have to face consequences. You are being punished for what you have done regardless of evidence was available at the time. If they wanted to go back and ban all those who abused bigfoot before they announced it, they very well can. If you murdered someone but there was no evidence for the longest time, when they do find evidence, you'll have to pay for it. Are you saying that while you claim "innocence till proven guilty", are you also claiming that if they wanted to ban people for glitch abusing, they would? You tell me.

That's the thing. Once they announce that bigfoot is glitched, that doesnt mean that it wasnt glitched before; It was ALWAYS glitched, we just werent aware of it. The thing has always existed as it is, its just that the status was merely changed.

Quote:2) Clean slate glitch is a glitch because by fixing it, Nexon implies that it's a glitch. By what you said with the "better safe than sorry" logic, they would surely ban you for glitching. The results should not dictate the status of it. Just because Nexon decided to have mercy on the glitch abusers, doesnt mean its okay. Suppose xxxx hacked up to 14x and though Nexon said they were banning hackers and banned a tonne of them, if xxxx didnt get banned, does that mean he did nothing wrong?

KMS/other versions having different gach noses is enough to prove that it is a glitch: In their versions, the sap was made EXCLUSIVELY for the expiring nose. With that in mind, being able to use it on a non-expiring nose would be using the item for a purpose that wasnt intended, no?

Quote:Nexon only does item purges for hacking, they don't do it for glitching. They did it for the duping that went on in the past, but they didn't do it for the clean slate glitch. They probably won't for this either.

They didnt even purge duped items for the most part; that's why there's still so many of them out there. Again, as I mentioned above, if they didnt purge the items, does that make duping okay? Also, they never made an announcement about duping (from what I remember anyways)... does that mean its okay to do so?

Quote:After all, that would be a direct attack at people who use their gachapon, or people who buy NX in general. It'd just be bad business.

Right and wrong isnt about buisness/money, money is merely the explanation and reasoning for corruption

This just looks like a classic nexon coverup to me. They can twist words to mean whatever they want without lying. So if they received 1000 tickets regarding bugs and then the 2 that you mentioned above, they could still have said they were getting useless tickets, which isnt lying. But in that scenario, its just a lazy way out.

Quote:I bet given the chance to try, you would glitch it. After all, you were one of the first to test out white slating.I concur.

Woah woah, lets get some facts straight here:

1. I wasnt abusing anything; I didnt know about the glitch, I was merely testing something out for the sake of discovery, not for the sake of making money.

2. Dont forget who talked me into this because they were too poor. Before that one time I tried clean slating to satisfy your curiosity, I have never gotten close to any glitch. I only did it for you to satisfy your curiosity. Dont turn around and throw my kindness to risk my money for your curiosity as a foothold to say that I'd glitch given the chance.

3. I dont abuse glitches. In my opinion, this is a Known glitch, hence I wouldnt touch it. WHatever we just bet, you lost, hand over the money.

Ps. Calling people jealous is just an excuse for lack of better reply. I mean, cmon, are we REALLY all just jealous that Harrison has a 7/12 +6 cape or whatever the stats are and people's +15 str 0 slot nonexpiring noses? If you really think Im calling it a glitch just because your items have better stats then mines, then you need to grow up. The world doesnt revolve around you or your equips. I couldnt care less what stats my equips have. Even if I had a legit 16 stat nose (6 str, 10 dex), I'd still be bringing up this issue either way. Im not saying it personally so dont take it personally, simple as that.

Ok. Let's say then, that you bought the duped white scrolls, and you used them. Nexon has no way of telling that you used it, or that you even used a white scroll on an item. Thus, the only result could be a witch hunt, in which to be fair, a rollback would be set in place, and indeed a rollback was used. I don't see the connection with your water bottle situation and your white scroll situation btw.

Retalion Wrote:At the same time with the innocent until proven guilty idea, once you ARE found guilty, you are punished/have to face consequences.
Of course they can. I never said anywhere that they can't.
Retalion Wrote:That's the thing. Once they announce that bigfoot is glitched, that doesnt mean that it wasnt glitched before; It was ALWAYS glitched, we just werent aware of it. The thing has always existed as it is, its just that the status was merely changed.
I hope this doesn't offend anyone: That's the thing. Once God came down to earth and announced his existence, that doesn't mean that God didn't exist before. God has always existed, yet his status merely changed.

Yet that doesn't stop many people (including me) from being Athiests because of skepticism that God exists. How can God change his status to me if he doesn't even exist?

Again, I don't hope to offend anyone with this but I'm just using that as an example. You can't explain things from a hindsight bias.
Retalion Wrote:The results should not dictate the status of it. Just because Nexon decided to have mercy on the glitch abusers, doesnt mean its okay. Suppose xxxx hacked up to 14x and though Nexon said they were banning hackers and banned a tonne of them, if xxxx didnt get banned, does that mean he did nothing wrong?
No. But let's say xxxx get's a name change and becomes yyyy. Can you say yyyy hacked before without evidence?
Retalion Wrote:KMS/other versions having different gach noses is enough to prove that it is a glitch: In their versions, the sap was made EXCLUSIVELY for the expiring nose. With that in mind, being able to use it on a non-expiring nose would be using the item for a purpose that wasnt intended, no?
As I mentioned above, we don't know whether or not their tree saps worked on their gacha noses.
Retalion Wrote:They didnt even purge duped items for the most part; that's why there's still so many of them out there. Again, as I mentioned above, if they didnt purge the items, does that make duping okay? Also, they never made an announcement about duping (from what I remember anyways)... does that mean its okay to do so?
No. Duping isn't a glitch, it's a hack. Glitches and hacks aren't the same things. Glitches already exist in the game. Hacks are the results of changing files in the game. It's up to Nexon to determine what is and what's not a glitch, so why not view this in a positive light and say that it is a nonglitch.
Retalion Wrote:Right and wrong isnt about buisness/money, money is merely the explanation and reasoning for corruption
Money is a reason for corruption, but it's certainly not an explanation for it. Money is money. Nexon won't kill off it's own business.
Retalion Wrote:This just looks like a classic nexon coverup to me. They can twist words to mean whatever they want without lying. So if they received 1000 tickets regarding bugs and then the 2 that you mentioned above, they could still have said they were getting useless tickets, which isnt lying. But in that scenario, its just a lazy way out.
Give them the benefit of the doubt. I don't think Nexon would toss out free labor from the many players who test their game.
Retalion Wrote:1. I wasnt abusing anything; I didnt know about the glitch, I was merely testing something out for the sake of discovery, not for the sake of making money.
When we tested it, you were well aware of the fact that people called it a glitch, yet you still went ahead and did it. I think you would agree that intention doesn't define whether or not something is a glitch.
Retalion Wrote:2.
You're right. I talked you into it. However, it was partially your curiosity too, so do not attribute all the blame to me. Also, you profited off of that, so that may have changed your explanation for the event now that you reflect on it versus before you were going to try it.
Retalion Wrote:3. I dont abuse glitches. In my opinion, this is a Known glitch, hence I wouldnt touch it. WHatever we just bet, you lost, hand over the money.
So this is a "known" glitch, and the clean slate glitch wasn't? We both knew the clean slate glitch was a glitch. In fact, you even described it to me as a glitch when I was still calling it a feature.
Retalion Wrote:Ps.
It's not jealousy, but rather, argument over little stat gains that "shouldn't" be there. But who's to define "shouldn't". LoL.

hmm, part of me wants to gach more now... already have 5 str 6 dex nose. Also, am i correct in assuming since it does not have the "one-of-a-kind" tag that even though i already have one, i can gach another correct?

and lol at harrisonized, he doesnt care if its 10 against one, he will still argue that its not a glitch till the majority(or nexon) say so, by himself.

I guess I have yet one more item to feed this list, Harrisonized. This is getting ridiculous on how you bit on every single oversight, glitch etc..
