i don't deliberately procrastinate on essays, and i still never get a's. roar. they just last too long, if you know what i mean... it's good that you can write essays so well. you are an english major? (obviously you don't do anything with cadavers in your line of work)
Yeah, avoiding the dead bodies. I'm an English edu major. I plan on teaching high school English, I guess. Writing and editing are my true passions, though.

Five hours... yes, I suppose that's enough time to write... what is that, like seven pages? You really have to be cranking it out though.
And lol @ Ji... silly thing, you wouldn't be around to dissect your own brain. Unless you cloned yourself, I guess. But even still, that'd be ridiculously expensive to do.
[edit:] High school English teacher, eh? Hot. That has got to be my like... number one fantasy. Yum.

Nah. 750 words isn't that many pages. It usually comes out between 3-4 pages, double-spaced. Once I get a topic I have an opinion on (rarely do I not have an opinion on something), I can usually write these essay assignments in an hour's time.
However, I also know how to play the game. If I'm not getting into a topic as much as I should, I know ways to still get past the deadlines. Today just the rough draft is due. For the first essay, I brought mine in without a conclusion, still only 5xx words and didn't have any Works Cited. Didn't matter, though. lol That was still enough for him to get where I was going. By getting past that deadline, I opened up a few more days to finalize the paper. It turned out great.
Pushing procrastination to the limit is the way to go!

Me too. I think part of the reason I am going down this path is because of how awesome all my different English teachers have been. I was lucky enough to get to experience five different English teachers throughout high school (which was 7th-12th grade for me). They were all very different and affected me in unique ways. I'm grateful to them.
My topic always has to come from our book Vice & Virtue In Everyday Life. The chapters and topics I get to choose from for this essay really don't interest me much. Wanna help out? Which topic should I go with for my paper?
A) Analyzing defenses of abortion, contrasted with criticisms/objections of abortion
If I choose this topic, I'll most likely side with the author defending abortion. I like the points she makes on her side better, and she isn't in favor of abortion in all cases. I don't entirely agree with her, but it'll be easier to support her than the other author.
B) Analyzing the act of giving financial aid to poor countries, contrasted with the belief that giving financial aid only causes more damage than good
If I choose this topic, I'll most likely side with the author that is against financial aid. He makes some excellent points, and I've always been more against financial aid after taking World Regional Geography last semester. It'd be pretty easy to write about, but I don't think it has as much substance as the other topic.
What do you two think? There's very little else that is interesting from these chapters. Both of these topics have their pros and cons, but I'm certain I could handle either.

Getting sleepy.
Felix, good luck with your essay. Get it done man! It's off to bed for me.
G'nite.
[edit: freakin' ninja.]
Personally, I'd be more interested in reading topic B, if only because I'm so tired of hearing about the abortion issue (especially here in San Francisco, with all the crazies running around.) But if you think the abortion topic has more substance, then by all means go for it.

if i am in your boots, i'll go for the abortion topic, since there's more to write about it. for some reason i just run out of steam so quickly otherwise, especially if i think i'm familiar with it!
your choice tho. there is much to be said for going after your interests!
edit: abortion is also probably a broader topic than financial aid, as far as i can see? quite universal (with regional application) rather than financial aid which kinda depends on more factors, i think - not sure as haven't studied it myself
edit2: editninja'd by lovely throws lol. we're in contradiction too. up to you felixtm

Sorry, go sleep. lol
I wholeheartedly agree that the abortion topic is overused. That's the only reason I don't want to write a paper about it. Even I'm sick of it up here in North/South Dakota.

Knowing me I probably will just settle for what's easier. The other topic I could work out is one about the MEANING OF LIFE. It'd end up mainly being a defense of a non-religious life still having purpose. The article I'd focus it around is about a guy who defends science-based life as purposeful and says the religious answer (Heaven is waiting for us after life) is simply not adequate.

sounds like fun so anyway you just have to come up with a draft i take it. that doesn't sound too challenging for prowess like yours lol

It is. It's the most fun class I've ever taken in my life. One hour and 15 minute class. We spend the first 45 minutes of nearly every class discussing topics from the chapters we've read. They're always about really controversial/hard-to-talk-about subjects. We use a chatroom-like discussion software to share our opinions and post our views on the professor's chosen questions. It gets pretty sweet sometimes. And it's perfect for me, since I can express my views so much better through text than with my voice. Love it!
I think I'm gonna play around with the meaning of life topic. I have some interesting ideas to talk about, and I love that subject anyway. Well I better get some work done now. Drafts are really easy. hehe
Night night and sweet dreams. Thanks for the chat and the help!

The discussion is online, but it's not an online class. We're physically all in the same classroom together while making our postings. LOL Afterwards, we always get into our groups and do editing sessions, further discussion (with our voices!) or other random English things.
AMAZING CLASS.

Wow, pineapple. Your class sounds so pineappleing cash.
I just read two archived threads about Red's ventures through roneriness and his miraculous Blue Get today.

Like reading Densha Otoko again. HOPE LIVES YET AGAIN!
Too bad he refused to give details about what happened at the end =( RAAAAAAAGE
This morning I slept in until 2:20PM, skipping my two lectures of the day, and then went to a lab session which utterly destroyed me. Good times.

Oh hey again late night cool cats.
I just got done modding my desktop some more, after bossing and CWPQing on MS. Good stuff. A friend wants to me Zak in the morning...so I guess I should actually get some sleep or there's no way I'll ever get my body outta bed in time.
And if anyone's curious, I went with the "meaning of life" topic for my paper. It turned out quite marvelous. I have good vibes about this one, too.
SCREW YOU, PROVIDENCE, MAN. SCREW YOU.
