I'm so flattered! Poast And what are you on about woman, no apologies are necessary.

Hehe I see brightangel's drawing.

[edit:] Oh yeah, I guess she does need eyebrows. Honestly though I didn't even notice until Loose pointed it out. Eek

Needs eyebrows?

But, I like the sketchy style to it.

i always forget the eyebrows heh

Eyebrows make a face look full and happy. No eyebrows makes it cold and empty. ADD EYEBROWS! LOL nice job.

i have no faith in my ability to control eyebrows and fear some disaster like
 this

eyebrows affect the expression so much! will keep eyebrows in mind next time tho, lol

worked didn't work? using paths/strokes for sort of the first time. stumbled across xxgenkixx's thread (SW) and thought wow, let's copy. not quite the same style as hers though... definitely not pencil-and-paper sketchy stuff!

what do you think?

I think you need to post all your pictures in the same thread. Its kinda annoying having my comic spammed out to 5 people with 10 threads with 1 picture each. Nice picture though.

Continue posting different drawings in new topics. Only if they have something in common, like a sequence or work in progress, then keep 'em to one thread.

About the drawing, it looks good. Maybe give her more butt?

The colors look great, looks like she's a mermaid at the bottom of the see, waiting for someone to come rescue her.

ah! contradicting instructions!

glad you both liked it. it was originally supposed to be someone wearing a calaf (lv48 mage overall) hence the white and gold, but that sort of wandered away and i thought ah why not make it watery while it's here. glad the colours turned out ok, i didn't think about them at all actually.

loose - she started out naked, but i thought i would give her some modesty! possibly overboard though. lots to learn!

Mmm Genki's thread. I love her style too!

This is great! Looks very serene and... ethereal? And I agree, she does look like a water spirit of some sort. It's very different from the other pieces you've posted, and very pretty; I'd say it's successful.

hehe, thanks you (: i'm still experimenting with different ideas at the moment to get a feel for gimp... it has a very large number of functions that i still don't know how to use.

..very fun and addictive.

edit: um, i have a completely different piece to post soon, it's going to be in another thread ablu2 because it is .. yea not related to this one.

i guess i need to start a thread of pieces with something in common with each other

i worked on this one most of today but in the end i'm not sure where to go with it

it started with opacity brushes and thin detail outlines like Genki style, but I kind of reverted back to my sketching again. add in a bunch of completely irrelevant brushes and you will get a hopeless mismatch of styles like this:

the background seems very plain but couldn't think of anything else without making it look crowded...why does it look so strange?

edit: remembered eyebrows this time!

It looks awesome... Except that she seems bald and bald looks odd :f6:

baklava - heh thank you

rob - i think the dark background made her seem bald, i think i should make the white figure extend to her hair too.

another one.

i was trying more overtly for genki style: opacity brushes with fine detailing, i still haven't figured out how genki does it exactly. for reference:

reference piece by genki - http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/2218/...chimz2.jpg
from her art thread (random page) http://www.sleepywood.net/forum/showthre...05&page=22

still trying to "get" it..

I really like it! Probably because of my weakness for girls who have their hair up xD. At a first glance, the face looked a bit awkard because I could only see the nostrils but after looking at it again, I think it looks good.
