The Revenge of Monster Magnet!

Shippo the Fox Wrote:Agreed with Kirov. Common sense obviously hasn't been used much considering half the classes weren't being used ANYWAY for some previous bosses.

Well, considering the last tweaks in KMS, all classes are being boosted.
Except ranged.

So... well, it's getting more common sense, isn't it? At least, at the end, you'll be the only ones standing, dealing high enough damage, and the ranged ones will do slightly more, and not survive a single hit. Yeah, that's fantastic, too.

IsaacGS Wrote:This absolutely ridiculous. Why would they make a "final boss" That half the classes in the game were never intended to fight? Use some common sense please.

Again, I'm not entirely familiar with Pink Bean yet, so i'm assuming the damage in question is on the last form correct?

And it only does the damage in front of it?

So the safest means seems to have all your melee attack it from one side, while your ranged stand to a corner. If it gets KB'ed too far towards the range, back off, let it follow you and repeat.

So what, ranged are useless for one portion of the battle, at least you survive and were useful for the first stages, which I beleive has more hp than the last.

And yea, I'm aware it's mostly JMS created bosses that pineapple over warriors. But all other bosses cater to Range mainly (The exception being the lovely CWKPQ bosses, and the previous BF).

Yeah agree with the man in the dress, it’s the only sensible choice.

Dusk Wrote:Maybe if there were potions or equips that gave me boosts of like 1000 HP I'd feel better.

Well there is the HB ticket thing that we don’t have. But I guess you are talking about something that would raise base hp and work in conjunction with HB. But then you would basically take away the warriors HP advantage making ranged classes more broken rather than fixed.

If only Nexon would move away from their idea of a challenging boss equalling being able to tank a large hit.

It really doesn't matter if you're useful for 99.9% of the battle if the last .1% kills you now does it?

Again, I thought staying behind him and not attacking would allow them to live.

Care to retry? I don't believe the last .1% would kill you if you can run away from the boss. And I don't think there are any circumstances in MapleStory where death is completely inevitable.

Anywho, I have come with test results from King Goblins! I attempted to MM all three 20 times.

The first picture is just a reference.
The second picture is to compare effects on normal monsters and the Goblins.
The third picture is just MM phailing >_>
 Spoiler
MM vs. bosses has not changed.

I agree that Zakum, Papulatus, and Pianus, being big single target lards, are ranged friendly. Ranged classes are the best single target damage dealers and have the upper hand there, but that doesn't exactly make other classes unwanted. They can still survive and contribute to the boss run, just not quite as much.

HT already does such a ridiculous amount of damage that ranged classes have to invest a lot of AP in HP or wear heavy HP gear just to survive before 180 (well, a little bit earlier now, with Naricain pendants). That's not really catering to ranged classes.

There just needs to be more multi-target (2-6) bosses. This would make melee classes much more useful.

Let's compare a Bowmaster to a Paladin at Zakum's bodies (using that convenient 1 target damage thread). To be fair to the Paladin, give him the best option - SI+SE+2h Sword. The Bowmaster can lose 250 AP out of DEX and still do more damage. That's an extra 5500 base HP, if you blood dump the points straight in.

If you can't survive 11k damage with that much extra hp, then it's not the boss that's the problem.

I believe min HP for 11k is ~6900 pre-HB, from a base of around 4300 at 18x+. You only need to use 120 AP to get enough HP. The more you can wash, the less you need directly in HP. 120 is not all that much in the grand scheme of things. My "mild" 30 int is enough to let me wash about 50 times by that level.

As for gear acc vs. gear hp - that's just how it is. When gear didn't add much acc, warriors added dex and wore str items. With gear that doesn't add hp, bowmen/thieves should add base hp. Or do the right thing, and don't stand where the boss can hit you.

Don't forget the DEX for our equips. Also, in case you didn't notice, that "only" 120 AP is 24 levels.

Um, comparing a Bowmaster to a Paladin at Zakum is a bad analysis. I think a Hero still does more DPS on an elementally neutral monster, due to Adv. Combo having a higher multiplier than Holy Charge.

Why should I compare a class that's meant to hunt Zakum at full strength if they're gonna compare a class that's not meant to PB at full strength? :/ If it was for ranged characters it would do 5-6k.

It's as people said though: It's very easy for melee classes to scroll for gear that lets them hit better while still maintaining their damage; DEXless warriors sound familar? Scrolling for HP is an entirely different matter.

The only solution I can think of is implementing scrolls like Scroll for armor for Greater/Supreme HP. Greater would be +25/+50/+75, Supreme can be +40/+80/+120.

Hell, why not implement stronger versions of other scrolls too? I'm sure Scroll for Shield for Greater/Supreme Weapon Attack will make many Shadowerers/1H Warriors happy in their pants. Damn, it'd be great drops for high level monsters, give people a reason to train/hunt.

The problem is that bowmen already have 2 stats. DEX for a warrior is their second stat. STR doesn't add hp, thus it isn't the same thing saying a warrior's acc problems is equivlent to a bowman's hp.

Although adding points into hp isn't necessarily bad, since after all we do have enough damage as is.

Than again, they could have made more ingenious ways to restrict ranged classes than absolutely killing them. A safe spot is always nice, like an area of the map that isn't effected by the killer-death-spell. That way, all ranged attackers would have to move there every time PB attacks, effectively cutting their DPS.

It is like that, if the Warrior/Pirates rush him to one side, he can only hit about 1/2 the map. He just happens to be able to shoot farther than they can hit, so they're complaining cause they die if they try to go near it and attack.

Putting points into HP is ridiculously inefficient. Think about it: When a warrior needs accuracy, what do they do? Put on some accuracy gloves, shoes, maybe a dex cape, maple weapon, etc. It's quite easy for a warrior to have a +70 accuracy set that they can put on when they need. When they don't need it, they take it off and put on some good STR gear.

Archers can't do this. For one, even perfectly scrolled HP gear wouldn't add more than 500, and since most bosses are doing 3-5k more than our max, that's not exactly going to help much. (Most) Warrior weapons don't need DEX to be equipped, but bows need STR, so we'll have to use a weaker weapon as well. I guess this is where Maple Kandiva comes in, and this tactic is used sometimes by people at HT even now.

By adding points into HP, though, we're sacrificing permanent damage. It'd be like forcing that warrior to wear the accuracy gear forever. Newties only do 2.8k, and you have 40 points dumped into HP? That HP isn't going to be doing pomegranate for you in your regular training. That's a massive sacrifice of damage you're making just for the sake of going to one boss, and that's not right. Warriors aren't expected to do this, why should archers?

It does look like Nexon America is finally taking notice of this disparity and giving us some alternatives as far as HP goes (Bosshunter armor, Naricain Pendants, Crimsonheart Cloak, etc.) and once we get a reasonable amount that ought to take out a lot of the complaining, but as it stands now it's not fair at all and something needs to be done about it, and that something ISN'T putting points into HP.

Does anyone know if Snatch really works on bosses?

papayas derailing the thread.

If you want to talk about "YOU NEED DEX@@@@@@@222222222", there is a button called "New Topic".

There was also brought up the theory, KajitiSouls, that only certain bosses can be magnet, entirely possible. But I still saw it done within the Twisted Masters boss fight. I'll make a video, but sadly I don't run again til Friday.

If anyone thinks that this boss was designed for only a select few classes, mainly warriors and mages, to do, then that's just pineappleing retarded. Here's why:

Phase 5, you cannot go past a certain point, otherwise you will trip mass seduction, and kill everyone. At this point, Melee need to focus on the Wisemen statue, while the range go under the wisemen, and focus on killing the hawk. If you go pass the wisemen, it's a wipe, everyone dies.

How is this suppose to be possible with no range? You got a time limit of 1 hour.

If there is no way to control Pink Been like so, then it's game over, and he's unbeatable, why can't some see that? Even if you pin him against the wall, he still kills all the low-hp players.

Think...

Yes.

Anyway, i like how the conversation shifted so dramatically. o_o How much touch does PB do? Snatch might have been a nice test since i know it makes the monsters face you, but i don't think the average bucc can take a PB hit. :/

I'm also starting to wonder if that genesis attack of his has gaps in it. Are we sure it's a full screen attack or is it just beams where characters can squeeze in between?

It isn't the touch damage that's the problem.

It's one of his skills, he summons up balls of energy and they burst, kind of like Big Bang. It does 11k ~ 17k no prob. The thing is, it has a very long distance. And no matter what, range can't survive that, so pinning him won't work. AND AS I SAID BEFORE ABOUT PHASE 5, you need range, otherwise this fight won't work.

The trick is though, Pink Been can only attack with that skill from whats in front of him, so if you turn him against the range, they will be ok...

Oh, that? Doesn't look like it has much range. Oh well, i don't think buccs can survive 17k very easily without blooding a bit. There goes that idea.
