It's be awesome if they had discounted Store permits and/or 2x EXP/Drop cards.
![]() But of course, I've always been itching to try out stuff like the Tiger Paws for my Pirate and the Dragon Stars for my Hermit. Just never felt like paying for 90 days what I just want to merely sample.
This "stimulus" sale was a complete joke. Linguistically they were trying to rip off the terminology "American stimulus plan" as pertains to the economy. Realistically, they were wagging cash clothing items in front of your face, so you just have enough time to walk around, and then they poof and you have to buy them at full price, which is what the "stimulus" was all aobut. You're stimulating Nexon's profits.
![]() I can understand limiting time on 2x cards or shop permits and related FM stuff. But clothes? Outside the familiar context of Maple, I haven't really heard of a place where expensive clothes fall apart after three months. Actually there's another version of Maple where clothing items are bought, you pay a one-time fee, and they're yours. I suspect Nexon will begin doing that close to the time (whenever that may be) that they plan to shut Maple down permanently and they need some last-minute scams.
Quantact, while I get your point of view, and I certainly shared that for quite some time, you do have to realize that Nexon is just like any other company out there. They are being effected by the current economy just like everyone else is. While I agree with you that Nexon certainly does many, many things wrong, and always has, you can not blame them for trying to get money when they are just as down as the rest of the country.
Lemme just say, a bird told me a few things; Mabinogi may close by next year SugarRush project has likely been cancelled Nexon America is in danger of closing entirely

I am hyper critical of Nexon, and I apologize if I've made people headdesk over it. It's just that they seem only bent on profits and they seemed to have forgotten any semblance of appreciation for those that bring them those profits. My honest guess is, if Nexon America shuts down, Maple Story will be sold to another company that will continue to run it. If a half-decent company were to take over Maple Story instead of Nexon, that might actually be a good thing. They run only F2P MMOs, and they will never bring in the revenue that P2P MMOs bring in, so their primary focus is to get as much money as possible. Yes they do make it blatantly obviously that's what they want, while they shouldn't, they have to do that to keep running. I would guess that Wizet would run it again, or as you said, a different company would take over. Was never told directly what would happen to Maple, or any of their other games that are running at the time, so my guess is as good as yours. Just to add to my previous post, NXA is in danger of closing by next year. 2009's profits will determine what stays open and what closes.

Yes they do make it blatantly obviously that's what they want, while they shouldn't, they have to do that to keep running. The really sad thing is if they spent more of their profits during the good times to cultivate customer loyalty, this wouldn't even be an issue. Way back, Sega was producing consoles without producing enough games for them. Eventually this led Sega to ruin, and it was going to shut down. Its CEO pumped 800 million of his own money into the company. It converted from a full company like Sony and Nintendo, to a software company. It's still that way even now. If Nexon cared more about its customers not getting hacked, scammed, or otherwise ripped off, I think its players would pump it full of money if there was a risk to the company, just like Sega CEO pumped his company full of money. This famous German restaurant Berghoff closed in Chicago some years ago, people literally flew in from all over the world to have one last meal there. With Nexon, many of its customers play the game because they are addicted, and a lot of them like the game and hate the company. All the time on Sleepywood and Southperry you see stuff like my Nexonazi flag or a derisive screenshot of a guy and a porcupine, with the porcupine saying "because we can and it's free." A company dying means some jobs will be lost and those people will have to find a new job. North America Nexon serves America and Canada. I don't know if the company itself is going to go bankrupt, but central Nexon is not so stupid that they'll allow a cash cow like North America to fall to its competitors such as Blizzard. Put simply, America has more clients and they have more money than their counterparts in Korea or Japan. So yeah I think Maple itself will stay. As for Nexon America in its current form staying... well, to be honest, I really wouldn't mind seeing a change. The only Nexon in America that does a good job deals in asbestos removal.

God damn, if it means elimination of hackorz and stupid script kiddies/all-around stupidity, by all means let the Blizzard man take gMS from Nexon America. At least they know how to do it right. They're too pre-occupied with money to really give a rats ass about their customers. That, and they know that there are quite a lot of people who are addicted to the game, and despite having unfavorable feelings towards Nexon, will still continue buying NX. The more that people continue doing that, the more they will continue their ways. NXA is going bankrupt, basically, yeah.

It just sounds like a huge oxymoron for some reason. In what way(s) is Disney running MMOs better than Nexon?

In what way(s) is Disney running MMOs better than Nexon? They have a quite successful MMO, Toontown Online. They ran Virtual Magic Kingdom (VMK) for 3 years, which was a promotional thing, and due to it doing so well it actually ran a year longer than originally intended. Late last year they released Pixie Hollow, and currently are working on opening Cars Online MMO. Disney is actually EXTREMELY better at running MMOs than Nexon. Toontown is P2P, all the other MMOs listed are F2P and are/were great. Granted they are more for families and younger audiences, but they still do very well.
