A guide to Crimson Guardian killing
#41
I found a way to snipe the left side ... but my exp rate is now around 2/3rds of what it was before the patch. I think they messed up the spawn cycle too, guardians have a tendency to spawn on the side I'm NOT attackingTongue

I went there today...I got 4.7mill exp an hour. Which is about half what other MMs say they get, I duno what I do wrong, I ALWAYS get far less exp an hour than anyone else in the same maps...

Updated for patch 0.66. I still get very good exp here for solo, so yeah.

@Chameleonic - I get about slightly less than 5m exp here too, so I don't think you're doing it wrong. I don't get why would anyone get better exp, anyways - unless 2x is involved. More detailed comments are welcomed.

the only thing I do differently is after clearing left side, I climb and use snipe on the guardian in the left stairs.

a good option is having a lower leveled bowman, usually pre-4th, keep clearing the left side. you can stay on the right side with much better spawn.
and yeah, I also get a bit less than 5m an hour

Ahhh good to see I'm not getting bad exp...maybe my friends had a nonleeching HS mule.Rolleyes

could be that some other MMs are using apples to train? that always brings the exp rates up a notch.

Also, tried killing there earlier, seems like the easiest cycle to do is to kill LEFT BOTTOM, move to RIGHT BOTTOM, then whn you get a chance, move to the snipe spot, to kill the TOP. Not very efficent but it worked well for me. Couldnt give an accurate worth to it tho, cause Im still too low a lvl to train there efficiently.

I think a 3 person party might work there. One camped at bottom left using Rain/Eruption(safe now they cant hit you when below them), second on step mid right and thrd top left sniping top and the single CG below them...I think that might work and keep a constant spawn.

hit from bottom right with AE and blizz, puppet a few steps to the left and you can get in the snipe spot without getting hit.

anyone know if 10% an hour here at 117 is good? @-a seems like an ok alternative to typhons and newties, and a whole lot less pot cost (just gotta buy lots of all cures).

Sorry to bump this up, but the change in patch v0.68 changed seal's range and chance of success. Now it works 100% of the time, but its vertical range is much smaller. At the sniping spot on the right, the guardians on the top lane can seal you, but the ones below can't. This makes it very predictable when you get sealed due to the 100% chance, and you can now rain/erupt continuously nearly without interruption if you can react to the seals. The guardians on the bottom left seal you too at that spot, of course. However, the downside is that you spend around 200-250 allcures or holy waters an hour this way. Also, unrelated to the recent patch, but you should include in your guide how to lure with inferno/blizzard, as it takes some experience with the positioning to lure the top lane as well as the right side of the bottom lane. I haven't found a way to lure the center of the bottom lane yet, so if anyone could share, that would be great :3

I get around 4.5mil/hour here on my 122 MM by the way.

I was going to ask that. I noticed more holy water chugging today, after the cage was added to the seal animation.

to lure the bottom middle from the right safe spot I jump down to the middle step, use blizz and then jump back to the safe spot. the middle step is safe as long as the guardians below aren't being KBed, so be careful if you use a summon

The new constant seals are really annoying... I used 300 Holy Water in one hour yesterday.

Luring the bottom middle is very situational. I've had it work maybe 10 times total? If there was a CG below me, I would whack or shoot out a MB, which generally went to the top when there was a monster there. For an inferno to hit the bottom one, there can't be any CGs on the top platform that were closer than it was, and it had to be sitting in one of the little niches at the bottom of the middle platform. It was purely by chance that I hit it with inferno, since you can't really tell when the CG goes down =/. Though if inferno does hit, then both the top and bottom CGs are hit, which is a great bonus =). It's just really hard to time it so that it works, and not really worth the effort. Since it's the same arrows that bounce back at you from the wall that hit the bottom platform with the CGs. I was trying to lure the top actually most of the time, but the arrows didn't go through half the time, and sometimes I would randomly hit the bottom.

I can't jump down, since I don't have enough HP to survive a hit without my kandiva, and I also have Phoenix out, so I'll just die if they decide to sword me =/.

If someone discovers a specific spot that works for luring the bottom, it'd be greatly appreciated =). I've had it work in multiple places, since for me, it depended on where the CGs were.

I actually find the new sealing less annoying because its very predictable, letting you rain/erupt uninterrupted as I said before. Best part is, it'll drive away other classes when the gachapon box event rolls around again in a few weeks.

By the way, you should always be staying on the sniping spot if you don't have enough hp to take a touch, so luring the middle of the bottom lane might not be an option for you. Pretty sure you know how to lure the right side of the bottom lane though. As for the top lane, you kind of need a feel for the spot where your arrow doesn't get blocked by the stairs, and that really only comes from experience. Also, don't summon phoenix, it has a chance of provoking something you don't want provoked as you're going up to or coming down from the sniping spot.

Thanks for the luring tip =]

I tend to do something else while training at CGs, so my eyes aren't always on the screen, so I don't notice the seal animation, making training here a lot more annoying for me XD. I'll pay attention to the seals today and see how it goes =). Since I was losing like 1% an hour from the extra seals (on 1x). Thanks for the tip about only the top seals working.

I am always standing on the sniping spot, unless I go to the left side to clear out the platform. I just go in and out of MTS, so phoenix won't kill me since I don't jump down. When climbing up, I make sure that Phoenix isn't summoned.

I can lure the top lane most of the time, I just stand towards the left edge, it generally goes through. Bottom right is fine and dandy. Bottom middle is just all by chance. Sometimes when I clear the right side, I lure them over.

I found that the spawn was slightly better than before the patch though. I'm not sure if it's just me, since I haven't been training for the past few weeks.

can anyone check if blind still works on seal? I dont have it, but some people said it doesnt seem to work anymore

Did it ever, really? It used to have a pretty high failing rate, so it might have been psychological, and besides, skills have a probability of working set in the data, not sure if blind changes this. For example, you can still get sealed by zakum's lightning even if it misses you.

they said they consumed less holy water per hour with blind before. that's a pretty good proof that it worked.

I made a short tutorial video for Guardians, as part of a new video training guides section we're developing at ironarrows.com.

Not wishing to teach anyone to suck eggs, but for those that are interested you can find the link at:-

Interesting strategy for that map, especially after 0.68 made it harder.

In the second part of your video where you go to the bottom left corner and AE the mob above... Just wondering, might it be better to use DB to push Guards all the way to the right, hop back on the stairs, and AE from there again? Or is that too risky?
