Xakris Wrote:YY like this in CMS? http://act.mxd.sdo.com/project/v070/event_02.html OH SO THAT'S WHAT THE CENTRAL BUILDING IN LEAFRE IS FOR! Makes a hell of a lot of sense now. I'm guessing the system would be like Final Fantasy, etc. Inn systems to "rest for the evening," only with quests/sidestories attached as indicative of MapleStory.

This looks like the gayest shit I've ever seen brought in to Maple. Whoever said this is starting to look a lot like "Webkinz", you're so right. I see my sister play that thing and I'm like GEE SURE GLAD I'M GRINDING ON MAPLE AND NOT DECORATING A HOUSE LOLZ
Who was I kidding..
Edit: In all seriousness though, that was a little bit much assuming there would be maple babies. The thing that comes closest to that 'idea' is the Cygnus knights. I apologize for attempting to be humorous with my response, I found it funny when I envisioned it.

Hazzy Wrote:Can some explain what this is? xDYou log out for a certain amount of time and basically the longer you're logged out, the more time you get for a certain exp increase. This is roughly how it works: You log out for two hours, you're then rewarded when you log back in with 30 minutes of free 2x exp. Of course all the variables could be different, but that's essentially the basics of it.

In World of Warcraft, for every day (or so) offline, you get "rest exp", which means that you get 1.25x exp the next time you login, until it runs out.
I think the max it'll fill up to is 2 levels but that takes a week offline. It's entirely based on exp amount, not time - so it lasts until you've gained a level or whatever of exp.

And here's a picture: ![]() Now apply it to Maple, and there you have it. Rested EXP.

I thought this was one of the ways they keep people from grinding 24/7 for a minute. Then I saw that you could play other characters. Pretty ineffective system, then.

It helps casual players because look at it this way: -The way WoW implemented it, it takes ~2 weeks to accumulate 1.5 levels worth of 2x EXP. The thing here is obviously, a person can gain way more than 1.5 levels in 2 weeks; hell, a person can gain 5-10+ levels in 2 weeks. Are you saying that 5-30+ levels is somehow inferior to 1.5 levels? :f6: I wouldn't say the system is ineffective. For me, it actually encourages people more to only play after gaining so much rested EXP because it gives them a rush. Leads to more casual playing longer over time rather than at one insane grinding session. I see nothing wrong with such a system. Hazzy Wrote:Oh, so you play less, but get heightened Exp when you do play? ;o Yes, but of course they make the system so one who grinds will obviously level faster than people who don't play for a few weeks. Again, helps casual players more because they will remain playing over time, and for the really high levelers it gives an incentive to keep playing since a few weeks of rested EXP can mean a lot for the amount of time they need to play to level.

The only way i can see this happening in ms is that you needed a special Nx ticket from CS to enter the Inn, otherwise, why would nexon give free 2 exp?

Blizzard already has your monthly payment, they don't give a pomegranate whether or not you're actually in game. For Nexon, players not in game means that those players aren't being influenced by megaphones or their peers or sales or whatever, and thus are less likely to buy NX. In fact, there's the distinct possibility that in that 3-4 week period, they may find something else to do and never come back. That's really bad for them.

Isaac is right. Nexon is much more likely to implement something like the Tri-Trio-Triple event from MSEA, to encourage users to stay logged in as long as possible.
If they do anything like "resting experience", it would probably be based on time-logged-in-without-gaining-exp (i.e. afk... or chatting and shopping).

It's to go in, have a sleep, have a dream... then you go to the NPC and have him/her telling you the meaning of the dream. If you have 5 nightmares or more... you can get some reward. Getting rewarded for having nightmares... I am up for it..... >_> depends on what type of reward it is XD
Resting EXP? Isnt that the same in Fishing? We have it here in MSEA, anyways. The high-leveled players make really good use of it, since it gives about 1% per hour (seems REEEEEEEEEEEALLY low, but at lvl 199, u'll love it. U can afk and get EXP too)
Hope this Inn System gives more EXP... The houses look cool, too ![]() Orit Wrote:Isaac is right. I miss that event My classmates and I would leave Maple on when we go to school, and we get back, yay! 66% more EXP

It's more about getting them to come back... if they log on and find a level worth of free double exp waiting, they're more likely to keep playing instead of just say hi to their friends and log out, which is what a lot of people do. |
