Went to 7-11 today. Paid for a medium slurpee with a 1 dollar bill, a quarter, and 25 pennies. The cashier didn't even bother counting the pennies.

^ Same.
I've gone to the 7-11 before and when I paid with 30 or more pennies they don't even bother counting.
The dude was like "Is it all here, because I'm not counting that".

I would seriously shoot you if you came to my work and did that. One day something similar happened to me while I was working.
This little kid comes up: "Can I get a dollar for this change?" and I was like "Sure."
Counted it out, it was just in dimes and nickels, and wasn't too bad.
"Can I also get some more bills for this change?"
*Kid pulls out 6 dollars in pennies*
I almost shot the kid in the face. There were too many witnesses, though. Curse working in a family recreation center...

I think I drove the cashier nuts.
Let me tell you this, I'm a cashier (but in college, and soon to get my Associate's Degree), and I get fucking annoyed when people pay me in COINS for anything that's 4 dollars or more total. Especially if it's in dimes, nickles, or pennies, or a combination of the three. Quarters aren't as annoying because they can be counted very easily, just total up quarters and divide by 4, or count by 4 quarters each.
I friggin twitched at a guy once for paying me 10 dollars in coins. Want to know what he gave me? Mostly dimes and nickels. Do you have any idea how annoying that is? I mean, maybe not to you, because all you do is throw your coins at the cashier, and as the cashier, they have to count it!
Damn dude that made me count that made coins, took me a good while! I'm also the fastest cashier where I work at, but goddamn, that was fucking annoying. I pay people in coins too, I won't lie, but it's mostly in quarters, it won't be dimes and nickles like those rude people out there.
I think most people like you have no decency. <_<; So I hope you were joking when you made this thread. That and you make every one else wait in line.

I shoved 6.00 (in pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters) in one pocket and 5.50 in quarters in the other.
Since I biked to Chipotle and I always go to Peet's (which is right next store) and since there was nobody in line, I dumped the pocket (with pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters) cuz I know that there's always people in line at Peet's.
The Chicken Burrito was 6.36. So I dumped the first pocket and said that was six dollars. After the cashier counted the 6.00, I withdrew took out some quarters from the other pocket and gave him two. I think he nearly exploded at me when he saw the other quarters I had. I told him to keep the change for his hard work. I feel like such a prick but it was extremely funny. That expression was priceless. Kasuhitomi Wrote:Let me tell you this, I'm a cashier (but in college, and soon to get my Associate's Degree), Aww, there's no shame in being a cashier.

What did I do to deserve such hatred? Coins are legal tender. Besides, the cashiers at Chipotle usually have nothing to do.

Actually I think it's people like you that have no decency. ^^
Last time I checked coins are still legal tender.
The only time it would be "wrong" to do something like that is when there is a long line behind you.

Course there isn't shame if you don't have any sort of Certification in an IT-field along with an Associate's yet, if you need money, you'll do things for them. That's a part of life. I 'understand' if there wasn't a long line, or any line at all, because you're not making people wait, but assuming that there was a huge line, and you're making everyone else wait, that's just annoying and rude.
@Meta: Exactly my point, coins are legal tender. But would you like to coin 10 dollars in nothing but dimes? Not rolls of dimes, btw. But literally a bunch of dimes. I'd like you to make a video, tape record you doing that, I'm sure you'd go nuts too. =) Or hell, try a combination of dimes, nickles and pennies and see how you like that. ;]

If you have a bucketful of pennies there IS a painless way to convert them to more manageable currency. You to a bank where you have any sort of bank account, and give it to them, and they drop it in this machine, and it counts out the change and then they give you bills for it. This is not like a convenience store; if a teller at a bank shortchanges you, they WILL be fired, so it's 100% legit. A few months ago, I brought my bank jars of change and got back $142 and change. If I tried buying anything with that much change, there's no question, the clerk WOULD shoot me, and would be fully justified for doing so.
Years ago I saw a news program about a man in my local area that collected pennies in garbage cans all his life. They literally had to bring a truck to his house, and take the garbage cans, (there were like 6-10 of them) to the bank.

Is that the one in the supermarkets? Those take like 9% of your coins. Bank's the best way to go.
