The Makers skill is more restrictive than that.

From what Isaac posted before it was

Maker Skill at level 1, you can only use 1 jewel per formula and you can only make items between level 50-70.

Maker Skill at level 2, you can use 2 jewel per formula and you can only make items between level 75-90(meaning you can no longer make lower than level 75 items)

Maker Skill at level 3, you can use 3 jewel per formula and you can only make items between level 95-120(meaning you can no longer make lower than level 95 items)

Things might have changed since this info was posted.

I don't think this was ever the way it was understood. We pretty much always knew you could make old equips after you leveled the skill. It's just that the abilities you gain from leveling the skill don't apply to the old equips (IE level 80 gear always gets 2 gems, regardless of whether your Maker is 3 or 2.)

I would expect TaiwanMS to get Maker in their next patch, and then GMS and SEA by May (in keeping with the usual pattern.)

The frustrating thing about trying to hoard gems for Maker is how much I like the skill. I am more excited about Maker than I ever have been about an update, since I'm low-LUK and I like planning equips. But no matter how many gems and ores I hoard, I think I want to use them all myself when it first comes out. :f6:

So people think that DEX crystals are going to be the most expensive? I'm almost betting on Wisdom instead, since DEX have a lot more supply of good monsters that drop them. Wisdom is like... Teddies and Wolf Spiders, as far as high-spawn monsters go. (I might try to farm Sites for them.) On the other hand, both archers and warriors will be using DEX crystals.

At first I thought LUK might rise a lot because the prices are already twice as much due to low supply, but then I wonder... Few thieves have the DEX, and few mages have the LUK, to use class armor anymore. I am just so happy that my LUK cap (50) is pretty convenient for using level 80 armor. Unfortunately, there aren't many holy-weak or heal-weak monsters in the 71-80 range. Commander Skeletons or Lucidas...

Hah, I'm hoarding the materials because I want to use them as well. I'm going to focus on making things I need first, but I'm pretty certain that dropping a lot of 5-6 above average stat armors into the FM in the first week would make a lot of money anyway. I'm betting people will see a 8 luk 4 dex clean Dark Pirate top in the FM and think it's perfect Gach or something, and scoop it up pretty quickly for a nice profit for me.

WS and Newts drop Wisdom ores.
So it'll be in fair supply.
Also Wisdom ores will only be used by LUK mages and people that want INT gear.
So it won't be quite as brutal demand.

I like the way you think. How much do you think slapping a +3 stat gem on a random equipment will get? Assuming the supposed price of 5-10m on a mid-grade gem, so sell for 6-12m? :f6:

Windraiders do indeed drop DEX ores.

I'm surprised you folks say Wisdoms are rare. They are down to 10k a piece in the FM on Demethos.

Weapon forging manuals are not needed (or give better stats like the Stimulators) with the Maker skill are they?

No manuals, just stimulators.

i'd seen in some posts that steel is the best item to invest in, but why? steel is used in the creation of lvl 60-70 weapons, when adamantium is used to forge the good stuff.

I'd go with Adamantium. I bought 100 Adamantium plates for 5k each and I'm going to use them to forge several dozen Concertos when Maker comes out. Don't invest too heavily, though, ores are pretty worthless in GMS because of all the ore hacking and probably won't rise in price much.

can you forge reverse armor or is that option available only for weapons?

yeah, maker allows you to forge both reverse and timeless weapons and armor.

Just out of curiosity, how far has everyone gotten in their investments in preparation for this? This is as far as I've gotten in the 14 months or so I've known about it.

Yeah, I know it isn't much for all that time, but I don't really merchant and I'm poor because of it most of the time. Since I only recently found out about the Dragon Spirit/Scale thing, I've only gotten this far our of the minimum of 20/20 I want to have before the patch. Also, monster drops are a given and are taking up more than I have slots for in the MTS.

So, how about the rest of you?
