Well, perhaps Threaten would be a Paladin's skill of use here. Like, Threaten would take a different effect on something?

Maybe having a monster with incredibly high defence and attack on which threaten would have a really great effect, like attack and defence -10000, could help. Or you have to scare someone with it Goggleemoticon

Always think outside the box...

-A monster has that skill that sends you to another map, but it can only use it with 1 hp left... Poison/Shadow web/Heavenly hammer...
-That alchemy possibility I posted a few posts ago...
-A wall that can only be attacked with meso explosion, to break it... (like those monsters that can only be hurt by it).
-Sabage blow to kill a monster that regenerates quickly but you can only deal the same damage per hit (one person in the room)... (So, the more hits, the better)
-A hole with a laser on the top that damages you once for sure, dealing 10k damage, that only the most RESISTANT warriors can survive, with HB. Make this one a JQ kind map, so smoke bomb doesn't work here.
-A monster that follows you (Like elder wraith) but that can't be killed, unless you lure it near a particular spot. Easier with DS.

OH THE POSSIBILITIES.

Forgot to repeat my idea of alternate routes and the possibility of more rewards per rooms cleared :p

Maple Story is an easy game. Just about everyone agrees with that. It'd be very nice to have ONE thing that is a challenge, a real challenge. This PQ is a step in the right direction. Hopefully it's hard enough where you must coordinate together to complete it. Kind of like raiding in WoW. Where it's almost a must to have everyone talking together on vent to get this thing rolling. That'd be some hot shiet.

I think saying that you want a challenge but not wanting to have required classes are contradictions... I know everyone hates comparison to WoW, but since they do some things right, it's inevitable. The challenge that comes from raids is that you must have all sorts of classes and specs, and plan ahead, and use strategy.

However, that's why I play WoW a hell of a lot less than maplestory, because raids and instances are always just aggroing monsters one at a time till you get to the boss. Whoopdepineappledo. At least maplestory has easy to kill mobs so you can concentrate on the bosses usually.

Anyways, this coupled with the fact that many classes will get buffs to balance things soon, will make this awesome.

Oh, and to test the water... What about the possibility of cwk classes becoming the dark hero classes, sort of akin to Cygnus being the light hero class?

You have 3 different classes at 4th job, it shouldn't be a problem for you to find a ShadowerGoggleemoticon

DrRusty Wrote:That's really annoying to have a PQ where you NEED to have a certain class though. There's ways to make classes useful without making them needed.

-Make monsters elementally weak, that'll instantly help pallys/mages.
Making them elementally weak doesn't really do anything, it lets mages/pallys do more damage but doesn't really give them a good reason to take them. Any other of the overpowered classes can really take out any monsters. Would only be usefull if they make it so that an elemental attack is needed other than holy, which would leave bishops out of it and take AM/pallys. And the weapon attack classes should do 1 dmg at this stage.
-Make the boss summon hords of mobs. Great time for ultimate mob control
Again the most wanted, Bishops can easily replace any other ultimate spammers.
-Give the monster a high kickback rate (25k+) and high touch damage. That'll make classes that hit hard in one shot needed to keep a boss knocked back (pallys, mages, pallys, bucs, shadowers) to keep him away from the ranged.
Put a few NLs with SE and apple and they can do the job just as well and faster. NLs with this combination can hit numbers that shadowers and mages have no chance in... at the same time they take out the boss much faster with the insane damage... so who do you think people will take more?
-Let him do physical defense up only instead of physical and magic. Once again, good for mages
The other most wanted classes can easily just spent the time chatting around just like zak/ht or anyother boss that cast physical def up.

Seriously, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to make everyone useful.

Even if you make some of these other classes a little usefull, the most wanted classes can do better job of it still with given buffs which still gives the unwanted classes a really hard time finding parties. Really making them a little usefull doesn't change from anything we have now. The easiest way to go about it is to make these classes a must to take or something like stereo mentioned "Would be neat if you just got +10 seconds of bonus for every class, so the best party (13 subclasses incl. 90+ beginner) got 130 seconds in the bonus stage, while the more typical NL+BM+Bishop+DK would only get 40 seconds, but be easier to form"

I can't see nexon doing anything different this time, it'll be just as same as its always been, just like GPQ. Bishops easily replacing the arch mages, NLs replacing Shadowers, DrK and Heros replacing Pallys.

For the PQ, I think that it would be cool to implement a use for the etc skills like the beginner skills, tame mob, item maker, and the scrolling skill....

Say maybe if maker came out, you'd have to make something inside the PQ with PQ only items that you'd have to drop to open a door...Or a place where you can only be on tame mobs, avoiding damage...

This time? Wut? Nexon america hasn't released a PQ besides APQ, and there's stages in there we haven't seen in any PQ released anywhere. GPQ is moot, since they didn't make it. They can't do anything similar because they haven't made many PQs.

Giving monsters elemental weaknesses puts pallys close to the top in terms of DPS, and brings up mages DPS quite a bit.

25k+ KB will be great to make melee needed to keep a monster back. I doubt NL's are going to apple + SE during every PQ. You're going to end up using a LOT of apples if this is what you plan to do. Save an apple and bring a melee class.

Make the mobs immune to holy. Solve's the "bishop replaces a mage" problem.

Let a boss use physical defense up alot, and mages will be wanted even more.

What if they had optional rooms? Where certain subclasses can go in go do a task that only they can preform. In return they recieve a crimson token. Tokens add an extra 40k or w/e exp that is recieved at the end of pq. That way you don't need to diversify your party but if you do you reap a better reward?

Keeping a monster back is not needed now at all, any of the warriors can already do that with rush. I thought you said on last post, keep a high touch damage so you have to keep it away from the distance so that reply was with that in mind. If the boss is pretty powerfull with lots of hp, the NLs will most likely use apple anyway to take it down much faster. NLs today can already hit over 20k with SE near level 150 you don't even need apple for that. The DrK, Heros will always be there as they are part of the wanted classes and their damage is good at the same time.

Making mobs holy immune and summoning them at a crazy rate would need an AM there for sure, but if I read some peoples replys including yours correctly, people don't want that class requirement put on the pq. Yes with this you don't exactly have to have this class to go in, but if you want the pq to be successfull you need one for sure. If there isn't going to be huge number of summon, any warrior can fit this job and clear mobs quickly and dish out good damage to the boss. We are bassically talking zakum now, mages were taken to zakum before for mob control but now most of the other job can do the same at zakum.

Put a lot of defence up? thats just going to piss off even more people since mages will take forever with their "crappy" 1 vs 1 damage. This will make other classes want to use apple and finish off the boss really quickly without risking a failed pq. Its not going to make them want to take mages instead. Paladins maybe able to get in if the boss was holy weak but still at a low rate compared to NL + BM parties who still do more damage due to SE.

Yes this is just like stereo mentioned. If you have better reward for taking all the available sub classes, the bonus room is available longer. So people won't say no to the unwanted classes that are trying to get in the pq. I really like this kind of idea, hope they really do put in something like this.

Make the mobs immune to holy.
Paladins are near the top for 1 situation: Soloing holy/fire/light weak. Due to Paladins getting shafted with SE, they're weaker than all the other classes with any 3rd job elemental weakness (ie. Lightning + Blast + SE < Berserk + Crusher + SE in DPS, and DKs are already kinda 2nd tier with single target damage)

On Holy weak targets, Paladins are 4th strongest behind Corsairs (always stronger), Bowmasters (stronger without SI), Night Lords (stronger without SI). Mostly because with speed 6+ 2h weapons, Paladins can actually use the speed bonus of level 11.

So a Paladin's best friend is obviously a Buccaneer. Otherwise, might as well just take a Bowmaster/NL cause they can outdps every target, not just holy.
