Clean Slate Glitch?
jikos Wrote:So you mean to tell me a hacker can dupe white scrolls/cape cold scrolls/100% cape luk scrolls, get 500 slots on a 4att pink cape, and make a 500luk 4att pac?

Oh pomegranateEek
Wow, I didn't expect the amount of intelligence to fall this low.

What dupe are you talking about? Yes, if a hacker COULD dupe that much, they could make HYPOTHETICAL (+999 all stat +x hp +x def and who knows what else someone could scroll onto it) capes and HP wash like crazy, but no, that's no to going to happen right now, so why are you "oh pomegranateting" at something hypothetical?
Yeah, technically, if you hack an infinite amount of white scrolls, cape for cold protections, and chaos scrolls, you can get a infinite attack pink cape. Same applies for infinite attack facestompers.

Harrisonized Wrote:Nah, I'll be quite busy the next week. I have to somehow make 170m in exactly one week. >_>

Dunno how I'll manage that but I will be VERY VERY busy.

I don't see how it's dangerous for purple capes. Nobody would really pay 475m (400m for white scroll + 75m for cape cold) for an extra 2 int on their cape at a 60% rate.

Honestly, you'd get better out of your money chaosing a 3INT 8magic 4slot Purple Cape.

Uh, no. You can still scroll cape cold on a cape if you land it.

In case you're wondering, my cape already had cape protection scrolled onto it.

Well, considering people use an average of 10 white scrolls to land a 10% to make perfect weapons, like 9 or so extra slots on a cape would be worth that similar cost but to a farther extent along the line of godliness because this system is an infinite production of stats at a set cost as opposed to the scaled cost of better equipment, though very, very high up on that line.
Cyanne Wrote:Yeah, technically, if you hack an infinite amount of white scrolls, cape for cold protections, and chaos scrolls, you can get a infinite attack pink cape. Same applies for infinite attack facestompers.
Until you blow up the cape.
Russt Wrote:Until you blow up the cape.
Can't blow them up since 10% cape cold nor 60% chaos scrolls don't destroy the item.
The scrolling would end though when the Chaos scroll subtracts enough to make the atk or stat disappear.
You also get infinite attempts though.
That's really ridiculous though >_>
If they could do that they might as well make a 32767 stat cape

But anyway, enough talk of dupers.
Look forward to seeing the result of that 100%, I guess.

If the server does sense something fishy, it'll probably disconnect you and you'll forever be left with that 1 slot, but on the other hand...

Huh. Well, that's that.
 Yep, it works
Special thanks to arrowofcupid for providing me with a 100% Cape Int.

Russt Wrote:But anyway, enough talk of dupers.
I wonder how we jumped from confirmations to hack discussion.

Please stop talking about hacks. It bothers me how people are scared shytless at something that has a low probability.
I guess, grats on spending your Maple savings to turn your cape from 11 INT to 12 INT +6.
Russt Wrote:I guess, grats on spending your Maple savings to turn your cape from 11 INT to 12 INT +6.

More like grats on satisfying the curiosity of many.

This opens a giant can of worms really. Though you may be right that the fuel to drive this will eventually run out, people will still turn a huge profit hoarding these scrolls...

^And to test a theory =p

We started talking about hacks because if someone found out how to duplicate items, before today, the best they could do was to fill up every possible slot with a 10%. Now, there's an infinite number of slots they can use on shoes and capes.

This is like saying "OMG someone can make a hack that would shut down maple."

Yes, duping can possibly happen, but seriously what's the point in discussing it?
Because now we've just discovered that it's much more destructive? Perfect weapons do exist in the game, but 32k att capes and shoes don't.

Because before duping could do nothing more than make "perfect" equips. There's nothing game-breaking about them. However, hypothetically, this glitch + the dupe hack could create equips that literally destroy the battling aspect of this game.

It's all in extremes, of course, but it's possible until this is patched. Of course, we also don't know if anything can go over 10 slots yet, either.

Hacking holds no discussion value in this thread. Unless someone can indeed dupe these and it is affecting the game, then yes, it has discussion value. As of now, it is pointless speculating the actions of a hacker and honestly, it doesn't matter how much atk you put on a cape and shoe because no matter how much, you're still limited to the 99K damage cap, and I know hackers would not just dump them into the FM because if such did occur, maple would shut down for an emergency patch.

Really, the game is competitive. If the hacker were to release these 32K atk shoes to ALL of the server, then he or she would be normal once again. Nobody hacks to be normal. People hack to gain advantage over each other.

So, what if what if. What if this hacking discussion can stop?
Heck, even without dupes this is doable, at current prices that is. 400mil per WS, 100mil per Cape scroll and 200mil per chaos "only" comes up to 700mil. When JUST Chaos scrolls were that price people were fully scrolling their capes...

Just don't underestimate the amount of mesos people have or the amount of money someone is willing to spend. Not to mention the fact that this could spark hackers to see this loophole as all the more reason to work on duping.

AND definitely don't underestimate what hackers wil or will not do to one up each other. That's why during the last duping craze, none of the items found its way into regular hands eh? </sarcasm> Some "Legit" players will pay real cash for a 32 att cape, no matter how shady.

You're arguing that it has no discussion value in a thread that was over by the 2nd or 3rd page and contains several pages of back and forth nonsensical arguing over what's a glitch or not?

Seriously?

I don't see what's wrong with discussing things that might happen in the future. Also, hackers would be able to sell the massive att capes in the MTS, then sell the nx for paypal money (real money trading already happens like this).

With basic supply and demand, when the supply runs short, eventually the scrolls will go up to a nonaffordable price such as maxed meso.

If they're willing to spend money, more likely than not they'd keep it for themselves.

I don't underestimate it. I'm just saying that as of now it's not a problem, so stop worrying about it.

Yes seriously Felix. What if's annoy me.
FelixTM Wrote:Of course, we also don't know if anything can go over 10 slots yet, either.
It doesn't have to. If you use slots right after you create them, the item never actually has to have more than 1 slot on it at any given time.

There might be a limit on scrolls passed ("+6" after the item), but that's pretty much only a display variable and I doubt they actually check that.
Russt Wrote:There might be a limit on scrolls passed ("+6" after the item), but that's pretty much only a display variable and I doubt they actually check that.
A check that limits it to 10 in my opinion, would be fair to the people who have enough meso to attempt such feats, and would prevent Cyanne's example of the 32000 atk FS.

A protection really isn't very hard to design for this problem. I know it's easier said than done, but really this doesn't take much for a professional team of game designers.
