Clean Slate Glitch?
RDal Wrote:So really what you've done is thrown all common sense out the window. I think it's pretty damn obvious Nexon didn't want to stick the Ifrit quest in my list for all eternity. It's not difficult to see that some of the stuff that goes on in the game isn't intended, yet you just want to look the other way and when it is finally announced you play the innocent act.
I'm not throwing common sense out of the window. I'm replacing common sense with logic. I'm viewing the situation as objectively as I can.

Innocent until proven guilty = logic.
Every mishap = common sense.

You must learn to distinguish between the two. Also, define "play the innocent act". I didn't take advantage of this 'white slating' at all, therefore I'm innocent regardless of my point of view.
RDal Wrote:Were those Chief Bandits in KMS justified collecting all those mesos with PickPocket just because it hadn't been announced as a glitch yet? By your logic, they should be able to keep it as long as it was obtained before it was announced. Because omg, how were they supposed to know snails weren't meant to drop hundres of millions of mesos? I'm saying it's pretty obvious when something is a glitch. You just choose not to accept it.
What KMS glitch? I had not heard of this glitch, but if such were possible, I'd say yes, it was not a glitch. If KMSnexon was stupid enough to make such a feature, then yes it is a feature, not a glitch. After all, what kind of a program designer would intentionally tamper with something and then ban everyone who took the bait?

Hypothetical situation:
You go to a bank and suddenly a ton of money slams out of the ATM when you make a withdrawal. Then the bank informs the police that you STOLE their money when it was not the case. That's where common sense and logic collide. You must abandon the "common sense" because it does not work.
IllegallySane Wrote:3. The White Slate glitch does not produce more mesos, and having more godly items available in the FM does not break the game either. Rather, it'll reallocate the mesos among more people (to those that managed to obtain and sell White Slates). If anything, it slightly decreases the meso supply because of tax, and in the off chance it blows up a godly item in the making, then there's more demand for said item/scrolls. This only affects a small area of the FM. Everything remains relatively untouched.
Thank you. Biggrin
IllegallySane Wrote:It's true common sense is required in order to find what's a glitch before it's ever declared. However, the example you used is much different than the BF glitch.

1. The BF glitch was harmful in a sense it allowed people to power level, but it did not break the game.
2. The Pickpocket glitch. It's VERY obvious that this broke the game, because it caused there to be a ludicrous amount of money being generated that not even hackers could produce.
3. The White Slate glitch does not produce more mesos, and having more godly items available in the FM does not break the game either. 1. Is it a glitch? Yes
2. Is expoliting a glitch against the ToS? Yes
3. Are people exploiting the glitch? Yes
4. Should a punishment be issues? Yes

The previous holds true for all three situations you have listed. Punishments were issued for the first two, hopefully it is yet to come for the third. The FM is filling with gold coloured equips as we speak.

It was not their intention to have PickPocket drop that many mesos. This is made clear by the fact it was quickly taken care of. If it was not intentional, it is obviously not a feature. It was a glitch. And your last sentence, the answer is no one... Which just pretty much shows that it wasn't intentional. Therefore how on Earth could it be an intended feature. Therefore, it's a glitch. Your paragraph, until you find a better way to phrase it, contradicts itself. As for your hyopthetical situation here, did the person leave this money right where it was (symbolic of not abusing the clean slate/white scroll)? Or did they simply take the money and run with it (abusing it)? If you never touched it, you can't have stolen the money.
RDal Wrote:1. Is it a glitch? Yes

Here's the problem though. While you may consider it a glitch, it is not a glitch until declared one.

Therefore:
1. Is it a glitch? No
2. Is expoliting a glitch against the ToS? Yes
3. Are people exploiting the glitch? No, because there is no glitch.
4. Should a punishment be issues? Since people cannot exploit a nonexistant glitch, there may be no punishments until a 'glitch' is declared.

Eh, no it doesn't. Please read more carefully. Your 1-4 list only applies to his first 2 points. It's completely unrelated to point 3.
Then again, when was Orbis PQ declared a glitch?

And yet people were blatantly spamming 'J>GLITCH@@@@@'
They even admitted to it.
Russt Wrote:Then again, when was Orbis PQ declared a glitch?
Yes, OPQ was declared a glitch. I forgot how long ago and I'm not going to search for it but I do remember GMs saying that if they glitch the PQ and are caught, they will be permabanned.
Russt Wrote:And yet people were blatantly spamming 'J>GLITCH@@@@@'

Yes, they did. That's because the rule was not enforced. Notice the lack of GMs.
Well, thread officially and unarguably "NO U" fest 2009.

With that, I'll leave you gentlemen with this:

Omg Felix, stop spamming the thread with your ugly pictures. >_>

LOL You finally noticed me! NOW I CAN SLEEP IN PEACE.

MISSION FRICKIN' ACCOMPLISHED.

In other terms, HURRR leave the thread alone so I can go back and forth for countless pages continuing an argument consisting solely of "GLITCH" -> "NOT A GLITCH" -> REPEAT, but with EXAMPLES/ANALOGIES/METAPHORS/RIDDLES.

IT'S A GLITCH, LADIES. DEAL.

And you didn't just call Suigintou ugly.

So pretty much what this boils down to is I say it's a glitch, you say it was intended that people should be able to use particular scrolls to give 6th slots to capes etc.? Which of course is if that guy was telling the truth... but still. I guess the only thing to do is wait it out.

I'm not saying it was intended. I'm saying is that it's a feature. (Sometimes features can be indeed accepted. For example, lets say that you bought a Coke from the soda machine and a Sprite fell out. However, you accept the Sprite and walk away.)

All we can do is wait. We do not have the authority to determine what is a glitch and what isn't. Only Nexon has the authority to do that. Therefore arguments revolving around whether or not it's glitching is pointless.

As objectively as possible: Innocent until proven guilty. <~~~~~
Blahblahblah it's all down there.
Outland Wrote:But... excuse me if this is wrong... the TS said that every merchant he asked called it a "glitch", the title of the thread calls it a glitch. Everyone agrees that it's a glitch. Therefore we know it's a violation of the rules and a form of cheating.
If you read, not everyone agrees that it is a glitch. The TS may have said that, but why should the TS determine the positions of everyone in the thread?
Outland Wrote:When you're a sane and grown young adult, you don't need the police to tell you what is and what isn't a crime. You're smart enough to know on your own.
No, you don't need the police to tell you. However, people have different moralities. You can't just say yours is the correct one.
Outland Wrote:So why wait for Nexon to officially say what is and what isn't a glitch? You're not stupid, so don't play the fool by saying "Nobody said it was a glitch so I thought it was ok". People who think like this seem like they just want to take advantage of the situation and hope to get out of a punishment. Yes, I hope Nexon does take some action against the people who have abused this glitch, though I have little faith that they will...
1) I didn't take advantage of it.
2) Don't call people stupid for disagreeing with you.
3) Nexon runs the game. Not the public. Mob rule always leads to various problems.
Outland Wrote:Also, more pics please, Felix. It's what kept me coming back. Shine
Please, no more. Those girls look so fugly.

When you're a sane and grown young adult, you don't need the police to tell you what is and what isn't a crime. You're smart enough to know on your own.

So if i called you gay, and your mom called you gay, your friends called you gay, and everyone on this board called you gay, and everyone agrees that you're gay. it means youre gay. end of story.

Assumptions people. This thread is full of it.

This is why I'm afraid i'm going to have to agree with Harrisonized here in the fact that though this (feature/exploit) may qualify as a glitch, until stated by Nexon that it is a glitch, then this can't be considered a glitch. This doesn't mean that i'm for or against this, but in either case you can't simply CONFIRM its a "glitch".

You can't assume that things in this game were programmed to be one way or another based off of common sense. How do you really know? What's your proof that Nexon did not consider this a real feature all this time? What is your proof otherwise? You did not program it yourself, therefore you cannot judge it.

Stop calling it a glitch.
Harrisonized Wrote:I'm not saying it was intended. I'm saying is that it's a feature. (Sometimes features can be indeed accepted. For example, lets say that you bought a Coke from the soda machine and a Sprite fell out. However, you accept the Sprite and walk away.)

I'm pretty sure we're working on different definitions of a feature here. I define a feature as intended. If that thing spat out Sprite when I wanted Coke, the machine needs maintenance. It's not a feature, it's a glitch in the system. If there is something in the system that shouldn't be there, it's called a glitch =S And thus, should not be abused. But let's leave it at this.

If that thing gave me Sprite, I would smash it with a baseball bat.
Sprite tastes like crap...
Jumpshooting/casting's a technical error ('glitch', if you will) that became a feature. Notice how it's not the other way around.

So maybe the player base doesn't know for sure that it's a glitch. But there is a certain way that Nexon (or whoever designed the scroll) intended for it to work, and as soon as it doesn't work that way, it's surely and definitely a glitch, from an objective point of view.

Now, as in the case of jumpshooting, it can be assimilated as a feature. But that is only after they say so. (Did they ever proclaim it directly? No. But they have shown, through featuring it in official videos and not acknowledging it as a glitch after it's common knowledge, that they do not regard it as such.)

Otherwise, if it's not working as they intended, and something quite obviously isn't working as intended, then it's a glitch no matter who think it is or not. Now, whether that's good or bad for the economy, or whether it'll be passed off as a feature (highly unlikely), or whether it should be a bannable offense if done before announced as a glitch - all that may or may not be a different story.
RDal Wrote:I'm pretty sure we're working on different definitions of a feature here. I define a feature as intended.
I see. I define feature as "it's just there".
RDal Wrote:If that thing spat out Sprite when I wanted Coke, the machine needs maintenance. It's not a feature, it's a glitch in the system. If there is something in the system that shouldn't be there, it's called a glitch =S And thus, should not be abused. But let's leave it at this.
I probably used a bad example. I'm trying to think of an example in which something unintended was actually beneficial.

Edit: Nvrm.
 Russt found one

Yada yada yada it's down there.
Outland Wrote:In all honesty... if your friends, family, and even strangers are calling you gay, then yeah, you most certainly must be gay. Most likely you're just in denial about it. Seems logical to me. Duh?
Are you being sarcastic? Based on your logic, almost all people were gay at one point in their lives since they were called gay by another person during elementary school.
Harrisonized Wrote:Are you being sarcastic? Based on your logic, almost all people were gay at one point in their lives since they were called gay by another person during elementary school.

I'm afraid now I must agree with Harrison. This logic IS incredibly flawed. According to your logic, I should have been swallowed up by the LHC's "portal to hell". And I to have been called gay many a time, though it tended to happen more in secondary school. I guess I'm also a f`aggot.

Please take your hideously flawed logic to BasilMarket =S
Harrisonized Wrote:Are you being sarcastic? Based on your logic, almost all people were gay at one point in their lives since they were called gay by another person during elementary school.

no, he is saying, if your own mother, all of your friends, and everyone who knows you well, calls you gay, it is making a observation. Not if 1 person, or 2 people called you gay, but if people who knew you well decided you were gay, then it probably is very true, or else you have an pimento of a mom, and need new friends.

On topic here is another "glitch turned beneficial" analogy for you, HP washing. Dont freakin tell me that was intended.

More on topic, this is a glitch, just like Jumpshooting and HP washing is a glitch, as was BF Glitch. Nexon decides its an Intended feature when they make it, not after a programming error occurs. Nexon might decide to leave this, though that will sadden me, it is up to them to decide whether this glitch should be allowed or not. You cant deny it IS a glitch though. There really isnt any other way of looking at it. You can say, let us wait and see what nexon will do, but no matter what they do, it wasnt an intended feature, they didnt program these things with this in mind, therefore, it IS A FRIGGIN GLITCH.
