First-person platforming is among the most horrible and annoying things you could possibly do. For reference, see Metroid Prime.

If Nexon would be designing then yuck! Unless they came up with a suitable back story, that is.

Still, unless they seriously revamped the graphics, I'm thinking it wouldn't be very popular... hrm ...

MS really wouldn't be 2d then, would it? D:

Plus, there would actually be some skill involved for ranged classes, such that they would be more like FPS, while melee classes...I don't know, but it sounds painful to both play and look at.

the metroid prime series received high marks -.- bad example

nevertheless, bad idea for maple. OP needs to elaborate more. SAY something instead of 2 meaningless words and 1 worthless word as a post. why would you even bother thinkin about this?

What you, and the other person with a similar response, don't get is that though the game itself was great, it wasn't exactly loads of fun having to do platform jumping in 1st person POV. Sure the game itself was great (as can be argued about MS... IF it was managed better), but even in a great game, first person platform jumping can get really, really annoying.

I know it's already been said but One of the best average reviewed games of it's generation is NOT a good example when suggesting a bad game. Obviously lots of people enjoyed it (Including me), and you are in a minority. You might have gotten a little further suggesting mirrors edge, but that's still supposedly pretty decent, and no other 3d first person platformers spring to mind.

If there was anything wrong with the platforming in prime, it would never have gotten the acclaim it did from players and reviewers, heck by metacritic, it's the 11th highest game they have on record, a game with any flaw that is more than a incredibly minor problem, if it had any real bearing on gameplay that took away from the experience, it wouldn't have been recieved so well.

If you got annoyed with it, not my problem, it worked perfectly, easily and I never had a problem with it in the prime games. Neither did the majority of people, or it would have been shot down in terms of sales and reviews for it. Prime got 3d platforming as well as I could have hoped.

You're talking to the wrong person. I personally don't care about the game. I was just trying to help clarify his point; he thought a specific part of the game was bad not that the game overall was bad. Which was what certain posters confused earlier. And of course its an opinion. There's no need to start tossing out sources about how great a review the game got. Simply put, his opinion is what he stated above. No need to shoot down peoples opinions so readily.

This pretty much sums up my argument too =\
Maple is based around a 2d platforming experience, wen ur hitting things above, below and behind u (and next to u in a 3d world) first person view wont cut it. They'd need to revamp the entire game system and it wont be Maple anymore. Its not that it cant be done successfully, it'll just end up being a new intellectual property.

This would be entirely different then. 1st person is usually not the best choice for games as it gives feelings of confinement and you don't get to enjoy the scenery as much, etc. It's better than 3rd person views for simulating experiences though (and for shooters). CoD and Metroid Prime series do that quite well.

One of the horrible things about MMOs is that they get repetitive to some degree, whether that's through the leveling process, or you reach "end game" too quickly and thre's nothing left to do. Square tries to solve this in the FFMMO by throwing lots of really hard bosses, but that becomes a different problem altogether. Giving 1st person + repetitiveness means it's just a large turnoff. Even romping through Morrowind trying out everything, it got really boring after a while to the point where I just decided to say "screw this" and went into the volcano to finish the game, because it was the same old, same old.

I'm not aware of MMOs that aren't first person shooters, so if anyone knows of any, do let me know xD I'd like to see what makes them good and what makes them bad.

I'd get motion sickness playing as a freaking Bishop. I can't handle first person views.
