Why are leprechauns a good source of mesos?

I just read up on a few threads and i saw that leprechauns repeatedly came up as a good source of income. Why is that? :f6:

Constant, fast spawn. Easy map to farm them. No/very few HP pots required to hunt them. Huge meso drop compared to most monsters (800-1k per Lep, more if the Fake Bag drops meso too). It adds up quite fast if you stay there.

also, they drop lucky charms (needed for a quest, can be sold) and other expensive things (like steelies)

With less than 5000 total hp, and meso drops that can exceed 2000 mesos, they have by far the best meso drops in the game.

Also, they're stationary so there's no real danger of touch damage unless you stand on them.


In comparison, Nightshadows have 70000 hp and drop 1100 or less mesos. And a lot of level 80+ monsters do not drop over 1000 ever.

You can be pretty lazy at Leprechauns. I put a rock on Octopus and let my pet loot to see how well it works. I used virtually no mp and still killed at a steady rate.

Has 2 forms, each form drops about 1k mesos.

It's also very easy to kill.

Yeah. I was recently having this similar discussion with a friend who is just starting out, and I told him pretty much as soon as he could handle killing Jr. Wraiths without too much difficulty, he was ready to head over to Bent Tree, which while not the ideal Lep map, doesn't require running past anything particularly dangerous.

1. Fast Spawn
2. Approximately 1k meso drop at a very high drop rate
3. Very weak mob in terms of HP

The only downside to this is that in some maps, its dangerous to hunt them due to Headless Horseman, Elderwraiths or Bigfoot intervening.
