Usefulness of certain CS Pet Equipments?
#1
Before someone barges in this thread complaining that I did not do enough research 'on Southperry', I did. I actually looked through the Guides section.

Anyways, question, I realize there are a LOT of Pet CS Equipments, such as Meso Magnet, Item Pouch, etc and so on and so on. But out of curiosity, which one is useful? There are some that aren't ever used, and so on and so forth. Is there a guide out there for this? Because I wanted to get only specific items for my pet for an Amoria Party Quest so I can loot apples faster and easier.

If anyone could give some helpful insights, I'd appreciate that. I hope I won't get a warning/infraction for making this thread.

If you want to be able to loot faster I would recommend buying the Item Pouch, Meso Magnet, Wing Boots, and Binoculars (this is the set that I always buy for my pet). The Magic Scale thing could be helpful if you want to loot stuff that other people don't but I don't find it that useful since I solo all the time. There is also that item ignore equip, I imagine it being useful to avoid clogging up your inventory but I don't know if that is what you are looking for.

Basically, only buy pet equipment if you think you can make back the nx worth in mesos. For example, if you train at himes frequently, you'll be moving across the map constantly, meaning that wing boots might not be useful. If you train at himes with a partner, it might be worth it to get magic scales. If you snipe things on top of the jeep at mysterious path 3, you might want wing boots. These are just examples, by the way.

I'm personally perfectly fine with item pouch only though.

Yeah...what Cyanne said. Also, if you APQ I'd at least get the item pouch and maybe the binoculars and wingboots because doing bonus without an equipped pet is just not fun. I've never used the item ignore thing and I don't see myself ever justifying buying one. I've only gotten the magical scales once but I don't think I'll be buying it again since it was a nice little perk sometimes, but that's about it.

For APQ the item pouch is all that's really necessary (meso magnet is nice for clearing the ground so you can see drops I guess) cause if you see something you need, it only takes a second or two to run over it anyway (you have to stand next to chests to open them so drops are right on you)

Plus having a lot of USE space free, as they drop a ton of junk pots. Baskets are 1 slot each.

I can only see using item ignore if you want to disable untradeable boss drops - zakum helm, egg, pendant, and the 4 skillbooks @ Zakum - and still be the one looting all the normal drops. Not much else is worth it.

I used to go without a pet just because I never have lag when I loot, however the pet DOES make things a lot easier and convenient and I use it to improve killing speed more than the "because I lag and cant loot fast" excuse (which I used to think was the only reason to get a pet).

That being said, I used to not use wing boots but after getting them for the Maple Crystal event, I find them very useful, as now I dont even have to move past something to loot it, it'll just go loot it itself. Ive never tried the binoculars, but chances are, if I get them, I'll be addicted to those as well =P

In summary: Item Pouch, Meso Magnet, Winged Boots

This reminds me of a funny story. After I teach piano, I let my students play ms while they wait for their dad to come pick them up. His dad got them a $10 nexon card for Christmas and my student lets his idiot brother to convince him to buy a penguin, a scarf for it, the porgy things to increase it's closeness and...magic scales -.-" That's all he had for his pet... no item pouch, no meso magnet, just magic scales. I was like "you do realize magic scales do NOTHING if you dont have a meso magnet and item pouch, right?...

I was like *facepalm* "NEVER LISTEN TO THAT STUPID BROTHER OF YOURS AGAIN"... it was that time that I also figured out who actually bought those meso bags in cs, lol... (He ended up buying the gold bag cause someone else gave them another 10 card for Christmas x_X)

Edit: I personally dont believe in using them as Im old school enough to manual pot, but Im surprised no one has talked about the use of auto hp/mp before.

I only use the Item Pouch and Meso Magnet, to make up for how slow manual looting things is. This is the set I've had since pets were released and I've never changed it. I'm used to manipulating my pet to pick up everything (overshooting when I jump over/recoil over a loot pile, using ladders to teleport my pet, etc). I just don't see the advantage of all the other equips. Wing Boots, eh, they save you the trouble of picking up things in the corner, but also introduce AI to your pet and make it less controllable. Scales are annoying as pineapple, I hate when people randomly decide to loot my drops with their pet. I don't recommend them for anyone. Finally, Autopots would confuse the pomegranate out of me, because I'm used to having to hit buttons every time I get hit and I would probably waste a ton of pots. Not to mention I use more than one kind of HP/MP pot.

I unequip the Item Pouch when wandering through areas where I'm not likely to want random crap filling up my inventory. Forget Item Ignore.

I don't bother reviving my pet on my account with two APQ characters just for APQ...it's not very good money anyway >_>

I used Auto MP/HP for a while right around the time I advanced to 4th. It makes Typhon training so easy you can practically sleep through it. Auto MP is really, really great with Hurricane, the only time I ever have to let go of the key is if I should happen to get hit somehow.

I usally use auto mp for bishop, auto mp/hp for NL, and magnet, pouch, wing boots, and binoculars for both. If I'm going to be training in a party a lot where someone won't be picking up their loot I will buy scales as well.

However if this will be for apq only I would recomend the item pouch with wing boots & binoculars. It doesn't really matter if you pick up the mesos or not because you only get like 10 for each coin. If you want to loot the reject items of other people (earings, grape juice, apq basket, maybe a chew or a cape) then get the scales as well.

I don't buy my loots specificly for apq but once I went on a party where only one other person had a pet and I had scales and I got 3.5 rows of earrings. o.o (And that was not during the V-Day increase eiher.) I usually get about 3-4 extra items per pq because of the scales, so if you were doing apq all the time it might be worth it.

I guess I should note that scales won't make you an "apple looter" or anything. Scales won't loot unless your party ignores their drops for awhile (3-5 seconds or so) enough time for your party member to break 2 more boxes and move on. Your pet will run to their drops, but it won't pick up until the alloted time has passed.
