Like anyone here has ever used that word to refer to a cigarette.

This isn't 4chan, there shouldn't be people calling each other that in every other thread down here.

papaya

Come on, guys. I didn't mind the other retarded censors because I typically use replacements for those words, anyway. But f'ag? Seriously? Screw that. Why are any words censored? I think we're big enough boys to handle "harsh" language.

Might as well copy Nexon's perfect list of censors and apply them to SP. All in favor?

The original idea behind the censor was to illustrate how ridiculous using tons of curse words makes you look by putting in the silliest words possible as replacements.

Also, it's really funny to watch the people who abuse these words get bent out of shape about it Tongue

Nah, actually. It's just pretty pathetic a site has to censor anything, especially with fruits of all things. I never even use any of the words censored on this site besides f'ag. Plus if people want to use certain words, the stupid censors aren't going to do anything. Lol That's why I've always found that "original idea" hilarious and extra stupid.

And I wasn't aware voicing an opinion was getting bent out of shape.

the idea isn't to stop you. It's to make you think twice before you do it.

For discussion's sake, do you honestly believe this site's retarded censors are making anyone consider not using the censored word? When people are angry, they typically use those words. Go check rants and the like. I'm sure you'll find a ton of censor evasion or a slew of fruits because they simply do not care. They didn't think whether they should or shouldn't use those words.

Let's look at Greg/Opeth for another example. Do you honestly think they stop and consider whether or not to use the word because, oh goodness no, it will become a fruit if they say it? No, they just have to waste time putting apostrophes in the words they want to say. Some people simply use those words regularly, and I'm curious what you think is wrong with that. We're in an informal environment among peers - not a job interview, a public speech or whatever else calls for more formal, respectful language.

So what's the real reason?

Why must the awesome Dragon fruit be used for a bundle of firewood?

If someone on SP calls you a peach, you know what they meant.

Not everyone enjoys reading "fag" every other word. why would you insult your friends on purpose? Besides that, I'm really tired of going through report after report of people who don't know that, carrying your example, greg and opeth are friends and call each other that all the time. To someone who doesn't know them, it looks like they're enemies, angrily flaming each other. now, you know that's not the case, and I know that's not the case, but 3,000 other members don't.

If there were a way to turn it off in specific forums, then I probably would disable it in the social forums (or at least the bottom two) but that's not how it works.

So the problem really is 3,000 retards trying to kiss up to mods by reporting what they see as "flaming" when it's really just people being themselves? Instead of dealing with the idiots reporting all the time, it's better to just try and hide the words? haha

Correct me if I'm wrong, please. lol

Because reporting posts is all about sucking up and not at all about wanting to have a better forum environment. >_>

They are reporting what, to anyone who doesn't know them, is a flame. By definition, arbitrary insults ARE a flame. It's their behavior that's not fitting, not the reporters. I don't see why 3000 users should have to change their behavior to fit the handful of people who don't know how forums with actual rules work.
