WOW I just got FiOS

I switched to fibre optic broadband last year, it's pretty good, although my upload speed might be better if I wasn't using a wireless router.

Virgin hates me, I'm not in their region for the 50mb broadband >_>

I decided to test mine out as well... so my school's internet finally doesn't suck. It used to... badly.

What exactly IS FiOS anyways?

There are different types of ways to send information accross the internet. Dial-up, cable, DSL, sattelite, etc..... Verizon uses a new type that uses fiber optics (light) and the name of their system is called FiOS (Fi= fiber, O= Optic, S= System). Instead of using radio waves or electricity to send information, they use light (yes like light from the sun and your light bulb) to send information. Instead of using cables, wires, and radio signals; it uses glass tubes to send information. That's why it has to be installed in your area.

My uncle works for verizon and he's the one who installed it for us. He was telling me how Verizon used to have these 5 foot in diameter cables that would run through the ground and send DSL to all their customers. Now that 5 foot cable can be replaced by a 1 inch glass tube.

Here's mine. If I lived closer to the server it would probably be a lot lot faster. All of you live ilke 50miles from yours .

We've had FiOs for years now.

Of course my computer is slow as pineapple... so the FiOs makes up for it.

Yah we have a house computer that's really slow, but FiOS helped it out quite a bit. I couldn't even change a map in MS on that computer without waiting 30 seconds.

Virgin? I remember hearing that they were going to charge sites to have faster uploading speeds. Ones that didn't pay would have a lower priority and would load slower or something like that. Pretty messed up. If they succeeded a lot of ISPs would have followed in their footsteps, and, well, that wouldn't be good at all.

I think speedtest is pomegranating me. I can barely manage 100kbps at times when I'm actually downloading stuff >_>

Oh holy crap totally overlooked the ping on mine xD

I just need to get myself a good desktop here or something and I'll be lag free xO

(My ONLY lag problem is on bosses. I lag at the exact moment when a boss is summoned or changes forms. IE zakum1 dying into zakum2 lags me badly >< boo... )
