True i guess. What i should have said is to allow them to merchant more by making it easy to get money i guess.

Getting the godly equips and whatnot is where the rub comes in =P
That is, until a meso fountain appears...

Takebacker Wrote:Gee i wonder why. Maybe because they actually care about the state of their game contrary to what everyone else thinks. If something like this hit GMS no doubt they would immediatly fix it with a RB and a public announcement/compensation. The last time they RB'd was some time ago and since it was RB'd a few days before they gave 2x exp for the entire weekend. 48 hours. Granted that was almost a year ago, but nothing RB worthy has happened since then. Sound like something AS is planning on doing though? Probably not. If they haven't done anything already they probably aren't going to.
What i don't understand is why they insist on events that flush money into the economy. What they should be doing in any version is making events that take mesos OUT. Especially in JMS and KMS. Hell, GMS could use it. If we had the kind of meso sinks that JMS has (though on a much smaller scale) and they actually were successful, we can keep our precious NLC pots while potentially lowering the amount of ultimate use in high level maps. That kind of effect would probably mean deletion of 70% of all mesos in the servers though.
Still, it's this push and pull crap that screws themselves over. What they plan on when they make these is that they're giving money to the poor, which allows them to afford pots/buy equips/get by somehow. In the long run of a month though, they end up putting a ton more mesos into the economy, which is very bad. Especially if they screw up like KMS did.
NLC was a bit of a wierd thing for us though. it's initial effect was that it fixed out wildly out of control economy cause by the hacker era when they moved the servers from the east coast to the west coast. it decreased the prices on ilbis and glove attacks massively within the first week.
conversely, with 4th job out, NLC slowly raised the prices due to ultimate abuse - however, they've been pretty stable since then. 10 atk wg's were what, 35m last january? they're 55m now?
as noted in the quote, GMS cares about our economy - the GM's are VERY aware of how the actual gameplay is, mostly because North Americans are VERY vocal when they find something wrong or able to go wrong quickly. it's more on a related note that this is why we have a hacking problem - gm's are more occupied with keeping our servers stable, keeping the economy in check, as well as providing new content. most of the new content and events is either due to their screw ups (they acknowledge them pretty fast and deal with them appropriately, and imo, pretty fairly), while new GMS exclusive content keeps us unique and DOESN'T repeat the mistakes of the other versions.
we get stuff slower and have a hacker problem (cause north americans are also pretty lazy...). i'd take that over a screwed up economy any day.

I didn't evenwant to touch on gloves and illbis. Everyone knew we needed that really badly. Illbis were what like 3x millionish? You forgot the desperate mage and warrior community though. Warriors were relying on cheeses and mages were using plixers and those things were 8kish each at the time. Those pots basically fixed those problems but they didn't see the 4th job implications at the time. Seeing as 4th job came out like 8 months later though i can't really blame them, lol.
They were changing the prices for NLC pots long before 4th job came out. :/ I think they settled on the current prices long before the mansion came out.
I never really thought about it that way. o_o Though, is "keeping the economy in check" really an excuse? Not that hacking is a negative impact on my maple life, but to nexon america, keeping the economy in check as of right now just means checking their code and what they plan to implement with new content so it doesn't go awry. And dupers too, but any of the stuff i just said isn't really a long term worry. I think it's mostly just the new content that keeps them busy. They must have a lot on their plate with CWK2 coming. x_x
Yup. I wouldn't say we get stuff slower though. o_o It's just that SEA and GMS are the two versions hardest at work trying to get their exclusive stuff out asap. In terms of KMS/JMS/etc we get stuff slow i guess, but yeah. I like our content pace. By the end of the year we should have most of the stuff we want right now, including KMST updates.

We mainly have hackers because they can't find a permanent solution against them, anyway.

Only for a while. Add in a few meso sinks and it'd be gone in no time. ;D
Then the hoars who save it become rich.

It's been well over a year since GMS has had a roll-back - They didn't even rollback after the BigFoot glitches and that was absolutely insane leveling, especially in Yellonde.
That was a major roll-back-should've-been-done scenario but nothing at all.

I think doing nothing about it is almost the fairest thing they can do.. When they banned players for the big foot glitch, they also took down 100% legit players. For example, at the time of the glitch, the #1 player in yellonde, stfu, was also banned. as a bishop!!. nexon just assumed he did because of his mass leveling due to the 2x events all day long and him grinding almost all day at newts. I know other people who were banned at the time of the BF glitch who were innocent as well.
Roll-backs will effect people who did nothing wrong.
Whatever they do, it's not going to be 100% fair, and it never will be.

I think this is some secret way to get people to stop playing MS because the people at Nexon are probably losing money and trying to end Maplestory by doing this.

Why would they ever do it?

That's the problem. Since there's no solution, they just need more active GMs. I don't really know WHAT stops them from getting active GMs, and I would SERIOUSLY pay 100$ just to know it.

meso sinks like a GODLY temporary att glove? that you can buy from an npc for like max mesos(like 30 att) but gms implement a crazy expiry time a week later saying they forgot =P also denying a rollback on that too

I think a hat with zhelm stats that also gives 4 attack and is invisible/not ugly, forged with 10 zakum diamonds and 300m, and expired after 15 days would be more appropriate.

No, it was not. What about people that were playing normally during that time?

I like the donation badges in KMS. 10/10/10/10 stats, but only 1 person on the server can have it at a time (for a given town), and you have to donate more than the last person to get it.
It scales perfectly with the amount of mesos on the server - more mesos = higher bids.

If this is ever to be implemented in gMS, they need to get rid of the ore hackers. Orehackers can make fortunes overnight NPCing their ores.

sure but it would keep those ores out of the enconomy (assuming maker was intro'd before the badges) and what would they do with their max mesos bought badge? use it to ore hack that requires no stats.....
I agree though that they need to get rid of the ore hackers, simple time checker on the quests as they are special maps, IE entered map at 1:23:32 only took 5 secs to finish? ban!
