Actually it's not completely pointless. It's just that the point of it, attention whoring in an MMO, is a very dumb point not even worth considering.
Personally I find normal classes far less fun than Beginners.
As for "playing correctly", I'm sure Nexon would've made it impossible for Beginners to level past level 10 if they didn't want people to make such characters.
I fail to see why people keep claiming that I'm having less fun than everyone else.

Because you're driven differently, people are often driven to level up their characters and gain new skills, points, and work twords the next job advance. You're driven for who knows why, but you sure as hell are, some people dont find beginners styles of pressing 1 button to kill things forever that entertaining, not to mention the grind is way harder on one.
People just have their own definitions of fun, if they dont accept beginners into their definition, then theres not much you can do to change their minds.

Also, this whole "playing correctly" thing is bogus. Seriously, is there a correct way to play this game? If there is, then what is it, because I would love to hear what it is.

Not to mention theres a reason for the begginer only tuna, sake bottle and maroon mop. And how is it being an attention wh0re. I train in solitude, only chat with my bl and sometimes drop by the fm. I use a diff char to merch. IF you even say begginer guild are attention-wh0ring. Its no diff then bowman only guilds. And if it is give me a good explanation as to how without laughing at your own stupidity.
I support this video. Good job tryst.

Nexon also didn't make it impossible to put points into LUK on a Crusader. That doesn't change the fact that anyone who does so is playing wrong.
That would be because a Warrior that does advance can do everything that you do and more.

You give this game far too much credit. It is very simple Korean MMO. Have you ever been to any of the class subsections in this forum? There is a reason why there are cookie cutter builds posted in all of them and also a reason why your character will suck if you don't follow them.

So the counter point to Beginners being attention whores is that they can equip special weapons and flaunt them, obtaining an amount of attention unbeknownst to any actual class?!!
...
Give me an example of a situation where playing a Beginner with any of the weapons you suggest will allow for you to kill any enemy in the game more efficiently than a Warrior class of the same level, and then you will have a valid point. And yes, all bowman guilds are attention whore guilds as well. Anyone that plays a class because of pr1de!111 and not because they personally enjoy it is doing it wrong.

Then what do you care about? Besides attention I mean.
I played a Hunter instead of a Assassin because I liked Arrow Bomb. Assassins don't even get a mob skill till 3rd job, and it's very different than Arrow Bomb. I've never cared very much about damage either. I upgrade when and can and I don't stress over it or care about other people's damage. I'm only asking for a single example of a Beginner having an advantage over a Warrior. Is there one?

It's not about having an advantage; there are other ways to have fun in this game than being the best at killing things. For that matter - do Pages have any advantage over Fighters in 2nd job? People still made Pages in Beta. Are you saying that they were playing the "wrong way?"
Findings Wrote:And yes, all bowman guilds are attention whore guilds as well. Anyone that plays a class because of pr1de!111 and not because they personally enjoy it is doing it wrong. You have no pineappleing idea what you're talking about. Ask anyone in Bera if they think IronArrows is an attention whore guild.
Your idea of what attention whoring is is bizarre. People set personal goals off the beaten path for fun. I want to learn to ride a unicycle. Does a unicycle have any advantages over a bicycle in terms of mobility? Not that I know of. Am I doing it just for attention? It looks like a lot of fun; I don't need people to congratulate me on my effort to feel good about myself.
There is nothing wrong with putting points in LUK on a Crusader. If putting points in LUK is wrong, then putting points in DEX is wrong, too, because you character will be weaker.
And what the hell kind of class do you play that makes you think you'll fail if you don't follow a cookie cutter build? Are you that naive to think that there is only one way to build your character, even though people have been arguing over builds for every character since MS has been released?
Your lack of imagination and creativity bothers me.

Warriors can equip Beginner-only weapons? Since when?

So by saying Nexon made it possible to level a Beginner past level 10, and then went on to add Beginner-only equipment, that means I'm giving them too much credit?
Also, who seriously follows these guides anyway? Following what everyone else does doesn't sound all that fun to me - I'd much rather experiment with classes to see what I find more fun. If you seriously care about "your character will suck if you don't follow them" then you're obviously playing Maple as an obsession and not as a game.

When/if you get to level 200 are you going to just log off and never play your character again, or are you going to stand in crowds of people using special level 200 skills and riding Red Draco?
Is that not "attention whoring", as you put it?
Findings Wrote:Give me an example of a situation where playing a Beginner with any of the weapons you suggest will allow for you to kill any enemy in the game more efficiently than a Warrior class of the same level, and then you will have a valid point.
Give me an example of a situation where a level 15 Warrior wil be able to kill monsters of the same level in the game dealing more damage than a level 15 Magician.
By this logic, we should all be playing one class.

I totally agree, thus why I play my Beginner - for enjoyment.

I like the boardgame Monopoly. I tend to play as the Hat. The Hat is smaller than the Car and thus can be harder to pick up - am I playing it wrong?

Thread made me lol. Play whatever the pineapple you want to as long as you have with it. People who think it's wrong to play a class just because it's weaker are idiots. As I said, do whatever the pineapple you want, it's a game.
Nice video.

She's not treating it like one.

It's funny everyone in this topic knows all these "other ways" and will not bring any of them up. Pages have different skills than fighters, that is an irrelevant example.
Tryst Wrote:And what if I wanted to add LUK to equip say a Diamond Dagger at level 50?
Then you should make a Bandit.
Tryst Wrote:Warriors can equip Beginner-only weapons? Since when?
Already went over this.
Tryst Wrote:So by saying Nexon made it possible to level a Beginner past level 10, and then went on to add Beginner-only equipment, that means I'm giving them too much credit?
I highly doubt that Nexon made it possible to mess up and miss the job advancement. Rather, they didn't go through the effort of making it impossible. As for the weapons, it's called a joke.
Tryst Wrote:Also, who seriously follows these guides anyway? Following what everyone else does doesn't sound all that fun to me - I'd much rather experiment with classes to see what I find more fun. Anyone that isn't a moron or an attention whore will follow those guides, even if they don't even read them and follow them unintentionally by using common sense. If that doesn't sound fun to you, you are playing the wrong game. Doing the same repetitive task that everyone else does is what this game is about. I am Maple Story player, and you feed off of my attention. If playing the game like it is intended makes me obsessed, you are something much worse.

I don't do such things with the skills I have now. I doubt that being level 200 would make me behave any differently. And yes, it would be.
Tryst Wrote:Give me an example of a situation where a level 15 Warrior wil be able to kill monsters of the same level in the game dealing more damage than a level 15 Magician.

No. You're comparing two classes with different skills to a classless character with no advantages (but there are many!!) provided as of yet and a Warrior.
Tryst Wrote:I like the boardgame Monopoly. I tend to play as the Hat. The Hat is smaller than the Car and thus can be harder to pick up - am I playing it wrong?
All Monopoly pieces are exactly the same aside from physical appearance. All of them are Beginners. There isn't a time limit on turns unless there's some competitive Monopoly league that I haven't been informed of. There are horrible analogies, and then there is this one.

How to use forums:
1. Read
2. Respond
No one brought up damage besides the beginners themselves. The single advantage that everyone knows about but doesn't dare mention, the reason that they play (DEFINITELY NOT ATTENTION WHORING) doesn't have to involve damage. Ex: A boss, PQ, or event that requires beginners or gives rewards based on the amount of beginners.

You might possibly be the biggest ass hat I've ever met in my life. Get off our fucking asses, who cares how WE play the game WE down loaded to have fun on OUR character.
