I think the merge is more or less confirmed now. EMS has just taken the Kinesis spotlight video from GMS and only make a slight change in it. Note the copyright notice at the end.

Game Service Changes: The Nexon Global Service Roadmap

Dear Maplers,

A few weeks ago, we announced that Nexon Europe and Nexon America plan to combine their
game and platform services to align its game portfolio better for continued expansion across
the Western market. We would like to inform you about the upcoming changes and explain
the steps it takes to set up our unified platform.

Step 1: The Nexon Global Account Setup
Starting on 8th June, we will ask all players to set up a Nexon Global account.
When you login to the Nexon Europe Launcher, you will automatically be asked to start
the process to update your account to a Nexon Global account.
This includes accepting the new service agreement and confirming your email address.
Once you have setup a Nexon Global account, we will ask you to login with your email
address instead of your Nexon ID.

Step 2: The Game Migration
Starting in July, we will begin migrating our games to the new Nexon Global Launcher.
Games will be migrated one after the other. We will provide a schedule with dates for all
games at a later point. You can continue playing your game normally during the migration
phase on the Nexon Europe Launcher. Once your game has been migrated and you attempt
to launch the game, you will automatically be asked to start the process to update to the
Nexon Global Launcher. As soon as you updated it, you can login with your Nexon Global
account to the Global Launcher and play all games available. We are preparing everything
to make these steps go as smoothly as possible and hope that our players will enjoy our
growing portfolio and the Nexon Global Service.

Dear MapleStory players,

On June 8, preparations will begin to migrate the Nexon Europe MapleStory service to the
same Nexon Global platform launcher currently used by Nexon America. This migration is
part of our ongoing commitment to better position the company for growth across the
Western market. In addition to bringing all Nexon Europe and Nexon America MapleStory
players onto the same service, this migration will combine billing, customer support and
other player-focused services. When the migration of the Nexon Europe MapleStory
service is completed later this year, European MapleStory players will be getting all
the latest content updates even faster than before.

What does this mean for you?

If you are a Nexon America player, there is no real impact to your service. Once the game
migration phase is completed later this year, the existing Europe MapleStory servers will be
available to you when you log into the game. This will allow you to create characters to play
with your European friends if you wish to do so.

As a Nexon Europe player, there will be some behind-the-scenes actions to migrate your
account to the new service and allow you to play on the new combined Global MapleStory
(GMS) service. First, you will need to opt into the new Terms & Conditions and Privacy
Policy, and then we will be able to migrate your Nexon account, NX balance, and character
data to the new service. The exact migration of these elements will happen in phases,
with the initial account migration phase beginning tomorrow, June 8.

Once the game migration phase is complete later this year, all Nexon Europe MapleStory
players will be able to access the new GMS service and you will be able to play on the
Europe servers with your existing characters and in-game content as well as creating new
characters on the North American servers if desired. No data will be lost between services
however, a few EU only system and items will be removed and compensation will be made
where necessary.

You will need the Nexon Global Platform launcher to play the game going forward. Please
keep in mind that current Europe MapleStory players will only be able to play on the new
GMS service if they opt-in to the new service and accept the new Terms & Conditions and
Privacy Policy. We can legally only allow access to players who opt into the new service,
so if you don’t opt in, you will not be able to play MapleStory once the transfer takes place,

I'm guessing stuff like Supreme server medals might get removed, but things like additional options are too integrated and widespread to get rid of, so additional options for us, maybe? Then again, they (extra stats on items) seem to be well tracked, so they could probably strip items of additional options.

I don't think we'll have to worry about IGNs, I believe on SEA, you could have the same name across their two gateways (which I believe is what they're doing here?, and that didn't become a problem until the two gateways merged and then they had to deal with duplicate IGNs).

I'm wondering if GMS will now have a multilanguage client (if EMS still has such a thing), and how that would affect the speed of getting future content updates, perhaps there are more people, from EMS, who can focus just on doing translations.

I wonder how the server select page will differentiate GMS Kradia from EMS Kradia.

They're keeping the servers separate, so theoretically they could keep their additional options, >15 stars, and other differences from GMS. But that "a few EU only system and items will be removed and compensation will be made where necessary" is not promising.

Once the migration is completed, the Content and Events will be the same and further details on item differences are still being reviewed at this time.

I'm guessing when you log in, you can choose either North American or European servers, and then you select the world you would want to play in, like how SEA used to have one set of Malaysian servers and one set of Singaporean servers.

I'm sure new players will still get confused and wonder if the two Kradias are the same, though. And I think they also have Demethos?
