KThxBaiNao Wrote:Councillors and Maplers,

After much deliberation a decision has been made to dissolve the Council immediately due to the most recent information breaches. While the council has been unequivocally helpful and insightful, the nature of this incident cannot be taken lightly.

According to various Maple Leaf Council agreements, all council activity, messaging, and discussion are not to be disclosed to anyone outside of the group without prior Nexon America authorization. As such, in accordance with these Maple Leaf Council agreements, the Council will be disbanded. Unfortunately, should the need for a new Council arise, the current(now ex) councillors will not be eligible for re-election, and new precautions will be taken to prevent any future breaches.

In the absence of the Council, I will assume the Council's responsibilities to continue working towards increased transparency and improving the state of MapleStory and its community.

If you have any information regarding this situation, please contact a Nexon America staff member by email at community[at]nexon[dot]net

Ha, saw this coming. Knew that the people inside would not keep their mouths shut or the people they picked would even be good. What Bryan was saying about them was spot on it seems. Shame he got slandered though.

Kind of happy considering I've applied and been nominated many times and didn't get an invite Tongue

All in good fun. I cleared my name and pomegranate hit the fan on its own.

MLC was never going to accomplish anything progressive, anyway. Not with what members were left.
For anyone wishing they were selected and would have actually put effort into it - don't lose any sleep over it. It was not worth the headache. Be glad you weren't involved.

I have a few interesting tidbits saved that people would find interesting, should I still be around when the NDA expires (..in over 2 years lol).

Everything moved like molasses.

Meeting nights weren't opportune for me honestly.

The constant berating by the community about how little we did wore on me.

Yeah, communities will do that to you. Unfortunate that the council had to go, but the new community manager seems to be on point as far as actually managing the community so we'll see.

we will definitely see. CMs tend to start out strong then fall off ( nothing against that really)

Considering how little they were allowed to accomplish ("tell us what will sell more Marvel spins"), this is no great loss.

As for the new CM, I'm still reserving judgement. He's got good intentions, I'm sure, but they all did. We'll see what, if anything, comes of them.

Kind of like politicians. We buy into all the good intentions before finding out how little follow through there is. Maybe it's player or maybe it's the game. Either way, sometimes the only way to win is not to play the game.

Yes, that was a War Games reference

Well, so much for submitting ideas for content to Nexon. Oh wait, the MLC couldn't do that anyway.

Submitting ideas to Nexon was the only thing we did. .___.

Pretty sad that it was all you guys were able to do, and yet you had to still go through some ridiculous beaurocratic bullpomegranate to even be considered. Despite the obnoxious process the vast majority of stuff was outright denied with little reason why. It blows my mind how long the process was for each suggestion given how large a company this is.

Actually the length of time it takes to reach a decision is usually proportional to the company size. Bigger companies are far less nimble and usually less risk adverse with more bureaucratic red tape. I can only imagine the embarrassing number of managers it took to sign off on anything the MLC suggested. Since the council members aren't even employees, they're so far down on the priority list they might as well be in Timbuktu.

Not like it was any different for the Council's spiritual predecessor. Actually it was probably worse because the "real employees" were totally swamped and rarely found time to address anything.

Probably Tiksi actually.

Probably worded it wrong, I meant that the MLC couldn't get anywhere with it because of Nexon's allergy to ideas.
