The Beast Tamer character job is BACK for a limited time!

Chase, the Beast Tamer, is a simple girl with big dreams. One day she saves a cat named Arby, and gains the ability to control animals through Arby's mysterious powers.

As Chase and Arby set out for adventure, more animals flock to their side. Now Chase can harness the power of the bear, the snow leopard, the hawk, and of course, Arby the cat. Each animal power Chase uses bestows different personality characteristics and strengths for dynamic gameplay.

Chase has over 70 diverse skills, and since there are four animal modes, it’s easy to find one tailored just for you! The Bear deals massive damage from a stationary position, while the Snow Leopard specializes in dash and jump attacks, allowing you to quickly sweep across the battlefield. The Hawk can soar into the sky with flying and sliding moves. The Cat has passive skills and is a party support specialist, and can deal out party buffs.

If you've ever dreamed of communing with animals, now's your chance. Take control of Chase and become one with the wild!

Maybe some day they'll actually buff them so it doesn't take the entire time limit to beat CV.

A large part of the game is being able to beat bosses though, that's just how things have become.

I don't care how "things have become", this is still an MMO, not a single player game. And it's ridiculous that the attitude has shifted to solo-play, even when teaming up is cheaper and easier by any measure.

Now that the game has reached more of a parity between classes that use magic attack and classes that use weapon attack, bosses need to use that old cancel effect, albeit a bit differently in that the monster's buff doesn't disappear after time, but only after a set amount of damage has been done. At the very least that will force people to duo bosses instead of just soloing.

Not true for Chaos Von Bon & Chaos Vellum due to people cluttering up the screen, blocking the visuals of incoming 1HKO attacks/tail pop-ups.

Hard Magnus has this stupid aggro system where the game punishes you for having too many people attacking Magnus. One person lags or doesn't take a hit for an extended period of time and the game glitches and drops a barrage of meteors and kicking you out the map.

This doesn't really add any difficult challenge to bossing other than to waste your time. If it's a set number of hits to make the enemy buff disappear, classes with low hits per second are at a disadvantage against classes with high hits per second.

It at least makes it impossible for anyone to solo it. A Weapon Cancel pops up, well now your Zero can't do anything. So you have to bring someone in with you to deal with it. So your F/P whittles down some HP and now the Weapon Cancel disappears and is immediately replaced with a Magic Cancel. Now the F/P is mostly useless until that Zero pulls down some more HP from the monster. And it keeps alternating throughout the fight.

Maybe it doesn't add any difficult challenge, but at the very least it stops the ridiculousness of playing solo in an MMORPG.

The bigger issue is that maplestory does very little to promote party gameplay vs solo gameplay. If it's soloable, someone will do it. That's nothing new, it happens in all games. But when you add mechanics such as shared death counters like magnus, or mechanics that some classes aernt' able to deal with as well as others, it promotes bringing less people or soloing to make it easier. I know that Hard Magnus has a mechanic where he won't drop any tyrant items unless there's 3 people in the map, which does help, but I imagine more people find that a hinderance than a actual mechanic. The whole Wep/Magic cancel idea could work, but all that does is promote magicians, and some classes just ignore wep cancel anyways, ala Kaiser.

A better mechanic might be that you could make a boss that each player has to deal a certain amount of damage to, otherwise it's not beatable.

Considering most classes already can it makes BT look like absolute garbage.

probably because BT is garbage. All people care about is
1. damage
2. being able to pretty much FMA legitly.
3. being able to make SOME $$ back they spent to get to the point illegitimately by bossing

On top of that, bringing a full party to a boss like Arkarium or Hard Hilla is definitely a bad idea because of their death counts. Also, people prefer to solo bosses because not all drops are instanced (cubes, medals of honor), and for experience.

Couldn't the bear be better for BT? or it's just too slow for cvellum?Hurt

You're frozen in place while attacking with bear. You'll die by one of the tails before you can even end your attack.
