Does this spells the end of leechers?

Hm, tried playing with the numbers. It looks like some exp is disappearing into thin air, because a Skelegon kill gives less than 45k exp combined O_O Other than that, I like the new system. It means that a lower level character gets more benefit from partying with a higher level character, but only if they actually train instead of afk leeching. That's great news for me.

Maybe if you hit double what the monsters HP is you get double the monsters exp? Doesn't sound like it would work, i mean, imagine how much exp you would get using anything that hits over 100k on a snail.

You'd get 3 exp. What are you talking about?

This would probably ruin Maplestory even further.

It's still KMST. They gotta tweak it in such a way [for what they want to do] so that leechers stop but regular partying stays the same or is altered very little. Not too easy to do i would think.

Probably hard to tweak it right, but in general they need to:

1) Make changes to the magician classes to even the training/bossing differences between them and other classes a little bit.
2) Right now the person that did the most damage to a monster gets 20% off top before exp is divided amongst the party. In training, that number should be bumped up a lot, to like 40% or 50%. Bosses should be reconfigured so that all participating members get a split of exp.
3) The Exp bonus for being in a party needs to be raised dramatically. A party of 5-6 is much less efficient for training most of the time, so they need to be compensated with bonus exp.
Example numbers (would definitely have to be tweaked, don't attack me for this):

Party SizeNo HSHS
10%10%
215%30%
330%50%
440%65%
545%75%
650%80%

Party size doesn't count people who don't get exp, so mules don't help.
4) Clerics/Priests either need some more killing power or more EXP for healing to compensate for less leech exp (though I'm not sure how this could be implemented without breaking the class - lol stand in town and heal an HP spearman)

...or give more fun PQs (esp. high level ones) so that everyone in the party has to participate and everyone gets almost the same amount EXP every time.

You're making a common mistake - Overkill is irrelevant. You can't get credit for taking more HP than a mob has. If it has 100 hp and you do 5 billion damage to it, it's still only lost 100.

The existing formulas already use this concept.

The wording/translation is bad, but yeah.

The pineapple does this mean then?

"- When hunting solo, you earn EXP based on the damage you dealt to the monster."

Im assuming its used in terms of KSing, if someone hits a mob then they get EXP too, but the exp you gain is based on the damage you did to the mob, moreso than it already is.

This system doesn't get rid of hackers. (I don't see why it would.) This would screw up leech sellers/buyers though. Whether that's a good thing, we will see. A lot of you clamor for "no leech!!11," but you guys don't realize that the main income source for AM/bishop is selling leech. Once that's gone, AM/bishops will have to resort to other methods of making mesos. Some will turn to NX, tilting the economy against non-NX users. Others will turn to merchanting. (That's for those of you that shudder at the thought of more merchants.)

There would need to be a lot more PQs released for this to work.

Screw the Monster Book, screw Crimsonwood Keep II, screw Time Temple. This spit NOW!

I'm pretty sure most AM/bishop would rather go without all three than see this new party system come to bear. If AMs don't shine at something (they fail at bossing), they will become another useless class.

Orit Wrote:I think clerics would need to gain more EXP for healing their party-mates, to make up for the cut of the kills they won't be getting.

You haven't thought this through enough (have you played a priest before?), unless you want clerics/priests to get a tenfold boost to heal EXP bonus. Example: at Himes with an average attacker, I get 1500 exp (including HS) per kill right now, with a mob of 15 around (1500x15 = 22.5k). After my attacker finishes killing that, I head off to gather the next mob. My healing him gives me about... oh, 500EXP total. If we switch to % dealt -> EXP received, I would get maybe a third of my current total. That's a lot more than 500EXP I just lost per mob.

Why not just use your ultimate skills... Sure, they use a lot of MP, but you can stand in safe spots when using them, and they do more damage than any other skills. This isn't a lack of balancing. If you have a problem with it, be a different class.

How do you figure that?

I'd like to see something done to stop leeching. The sooner Nexon stops leeching the better.

Anyone who parties an AM/Bishop is leeching. You want to kill party exp too?

Currently I get something like 2300+230exp(cant recall as I dont take notice lol) per kill from my AM when he kills a Newt. With the new system it looks like I'll get 230 total or even 0 because the exp is factored by how much damage I did to the monsters he kills(which will be 0 ).

This System will only benefit AM/Bishops as they will get more exp per their kill while I get less exp from them. Its going to mess things up a lot. AM/Bishops will be more inclined to party their own kind and level faster than they already do while I get to eat crap...

Thats how I read the changes anyway...

I'm an AM that doesn't sell leech and I get by just fine. I don't merchant (I use the MTS sometimes) and I don't use NX often.

I think everyone is forgetting the second part of the party exp system. It's also dependent on LEVEL. So even if you do no damage, you still get some exp.

I didnt forget the Level aspect.

If I am in a party with a lv 190 Bishop (30 lv dif) how will that be any different from a low lv leeching from a high lv? The question remains, how will they differentiate one from the other?

I'm not sure. I think that they should detect the last time you attacked a monster, and if it was more than like 10 seconds you stop receiving exp. You should also have to do do most of the damage to the monster when it's killed for this to take effect. (Eg, you have to be attacking newties and kill one atleast once every 10 seconds to get the experience.)

I think the whole leeching problem is stupid. I think Nexon should just declare paying for leech is illigit, which would stop everyone but the people that want to sell/buy leech so badly they'll take the chance of being banned. It would be nice if the community itself would decide to stop leeching. Hell, the people buying leech with NX is in itself illigit.

That's why they're unbalanced.

Rather than AM/Bishops being responsible for most of the killing, they should be brought down closer to the expense/training speed of other classes, and higher level and better exp maps need to come out so training doesn't become ridiculously slow.

Really, I burn a lot in HP. A mage doesn't. Every class has it's strengths and weaknesses. I still stand by what I said.

I don't suppose you'd approve of ultimate skills being weakened and having MP reduced.

And AMs would be in line for a few new bossing skills. Unless you're going to say that they don't deserve to boss either.

Oh, definitely. Or at least they need their present skills buffed. And Bishops need a better small area mob skill, or at least Big Bang needs to be buffed further so it's at least useful.

The new exp equation seems interesting. The problem with leeching is that people find it ok to do. I personally think it is the player's problem and not nexon's. We the players are allowing people who leech into good guilds and we are the one's bossing with them. As far as I am concerned leeching is annoying yes but most people who leech end up dying later off in 4th job from my experience with them. I was passed from 8x-12x by leechers because I solo trained on 2x. But right now I look back at those people and they're not playing and I am.
