I filled it out twice and my votes were for Scizor and Blaziken.

![]() When you swap mewtwo around like that it looks really weird. I am going to vote for Isaac even though it doesn't seem like a popular choice. Anyone from Golden Sun would do me though. Actually might go back and vote for an Inkling too. Also since they already said they made them they might as well just add Ice Climbers for the Wii U version. I got up and went to target to 8am to try to get jiggs, come to find out you can't preorder them in the store! The guy telling me that itll be much easier online online anyway, we both had a great giggle, which led to me smashing his face in maniacal laughter with specifically a diddy amiibo, I don't know why I chose diddy, maybe he was positioned just right to get into his eye cavities. After escaping the police, I ran to gamestop, waited for about an hour, realized that this specific one I was at opens at 11, in fact all of them in my area do besides ONE at the mall. After breaking into many of them I realized that I need stupid things like, "passwords" and even with chopping the employees fingers off to get those, apparently the system didn't let me order before 3pm! I just figured I was missing a spell or something, the guy passed out from blood loss so I couldn't ask. So around 9:30 I waited at the mall, some obnoxious nerd stereotype then got in line behind me. I laughed as I could see me being there first made me dominate, yes you little pomegranate, you have to wait FOR ME- then apparently he was one of the store openers and forgot his keys. The other guy came in, opened the door, shut it without even acknowledging me, waited until 10am to tell me that they can't order until 3pm, saying he's going to be busy around that time. I drove home, called work and told them I'm taking personal leave for the rest of the day, got my backpack, put water and two full cell phone batteries in it and went again on my voyage, camping and prepared. It was around 11 I returned to what I believe were the America's, they had some African like food called "Chick Filet" and actually got some free sample of some spicey chicken along with my chicken sandwhich. I got my protein, asked the guy "WHERE SHALL THE LINE START", thrusting my mug of ale, where he told me outside along the wall. Fair enough, this being 11:30 now, I position my backpack to be a nice cushion for lumbar support, cus pineapple it I'm fancy like that. Around 12:30 the guard came around, this blonde chick who thought I was dealing cocaine with preorders of MK10 told me I can't sit there, and have to stand, for 4 hours, and laughed at me. My quest was more important than my honor so I kept my sword sheathed. Using my training as a Marine, I stood for three hours (training through battlefield specifically), I would occasionally squat to get some stretching, but no one else showed up. I people watched, played with my phone, Jesus resurrected and apparently the Greeks just invented the irrigation system, I lived throughout the history of mankind those hours, I learned a lot of philosophical pomegranate, but we're talking about amiibos right now so probably not your interest. Around 2:30 a gamestop employee from another store show'd up, where the gamestop employee of this store tried to tell me that I won't be able to order until 4PM. At this point I beat him upside the head with a globe happened lying around, drilling into the fact the timezones have an hour difference between them. He conceded but still felt like they were opening at 4pm, none the less I MADE him check at 3pm. By the time 2:45 rolled around we had a line of about 70 people, I leading the entire mob to the register, because I claimed this land as my land, as any good american would. After 3pm rolled around, i bought the wave 6 pack, along with the splatoon pac (wich may have also been missing pacman, I was too exhausted to care). Where this long line had to wait for my order to complete, and took a full hour to do so because of the lag on the system. I walked out, took a restroom break, walked back out, and the wave 6 pack was sold out before the 4th guy managed to even touch the register. And thats my friends is the Odyssey of khaini fu`cking west, the trampler of amiibo collecting.

Okay so in other words this whole "waiting for more stock to be available" according to Nintendo was just a huge load of pomegranate and there's still an absolutely horrendously low amount of every amiibo, nice. Fun times.

I've actually been hearing some demand for Banjo + Kazooie as well. Not quite sure who to vote for, myself.

Maybe I'm too pesimistic, but I feel like the ballot is probably a clever ruse to make it feel like people have a part.
Pretty sure they've already decided which characters they're going to add, and will just point to this later to cherry pick some votes as justification. If they don't finish until November, and it took them 6 months to do a veteran, lol otherwise. As for my vote, I was torn between getting another Zelda rep (Toon dorf/Impa/Ghirahim) and voting for Ridley. Both series desperately need another rep. I went for Ridley in the end. Not that I care, they overpriced the characters anyway. Maybe MK/NSLU were too good value, but after getting the equivilant of a 50%/100% content increase for £11/£18 respectively, I hardly feel like £4.50 for a single character (price is for a download to both versions) is anything but a bum deal. Even ignoring changes to the existing veterans, only counting newcomers to U/3DS, at £40 with 17 newcomers (mii fighter= 3 characters) puts it at a value of just over £2/character. Which would be much more reasonable. Razmos Wrote:You can, there's nothing stopping anyone from just filling it in twice. Presumably they are removing any double+ votes since it does say at the top not to vote more than once. Of course, it's nintendo and they don't know how to internet, so maybe not.

A character skin takes a hell of a lot less development time and money than a full blown character that needs to be balanced in comparison to the rest of a 50 character cast, across several game modes. I think it's silly you'd even compare a smash character to a mario kart skin.

Ridley as a character makes even less sense than normal due to the fact that he's a stage hazard in the same game. That's not to say I don't think Metroid needs another rep, I do, because Metroid is heavily ignored by Nintendo as a whole and it's depressing because it's such a great franchise, but Ridley isn't the way to go. Dark Samus would have a completely separate moveset because almost none of her abilities relate to Samus. It wouldn't be a Dark Pit/Regular Pit situation at all unless they were lazy about it. Several of the Bounty Hunters in Prime 3 could be used, like Rundas, who appears to be a favorite of them. There's plenty of characters there that could work. Ridley is an absurd choice. You can claim the whole "he was small in the NES game!" crap, and I could go on and on about the limitations of the console and all the other typical arguments used, but the fact that he's been a boss battle throughout at least two Smash games (I forget if he's in Melee), and then he's also in Smash 4 already, as a boss hazard, makes his theoretical appearance ridiculous. Hell, I'd take SA-X before Ridley.

Oh pomegranate wait, are you actually using the size argument seriously. Uh, I didn't realise people actually thought that could be a problem in smash bros, a game which repeatedly rescales characters time and again. Especially not for a character who changes size between games. The only reason anyone ever mentioned the NES sprite ridley was because someone used Bowsers NES sprite as his justification for not being the behemoth he is in all the recent mario games. In particular, the pokemon scaling relative to each other is pretty jarring. Pikachu, for example, should be less than a quarter of charizards height is, in smash, a little more than half his size. Either charizard got made smaller or Pikachu got much bigger, either waysize scaling for appropriateness is clearly a non-issue. Quote:and then he's also in Smash 4 already, as a boss hazard, makes his theoretical appearance ridiculous. If you're going to call things ridiculous for already appearing, maybe your first suggestion shouldn't be someone who is already an assist trophy? I think it's silly you'd even compare a smash character to a mario kart skin. What? A skin? No-one gives a pomegranate about the mario kart characters, if that's what you mean. You got 16 new tracks for £11, which is half the games content. You want to measure it by development time rather than relative content? Alrighty then, let's make an estimate. Say sakurai started on smash 4 immediately after finishing Kid Icarus uprising at the end of march 2012. That means the game took just under 30 months to make, if he worked from then until the JP 3DS launch. That means each newcomer took on average about 30/17 =1.7 months per newcomer. Realistically, that would be a significant amount less because there would have been an awful lot of other things to do, plus essentially making the same game for two different systems. Nintendo EAD studio 1s previous game, MK7 released at the start of December 2011. MK8 launched in May 2014, also making it a 30 month gap. The base game had 32 tracks, so each one took roughly 1.07 months to implement. The first DLC pack released in november, 7 months later, with 8 new tracks, suggesting that around 1.1 months per track is about right. So, if you want to go by development time vs mario kart, smash characters should cost about 1.7/1.1 = 1.55 times as much in ratio of a track dev time to a character dev time, for a code for both versions (since we counted the dev time as for both smash games up above). That would put 16 Smash characters at £11*1.55= £17. Or £17/16= £1.06 per character. For a code for both smash versions. Less than £1/4 of what we're being asked to pay for that. Or about half what I said above. Huh. So, to quote myself Quote:They overpriced the characters anyway. Maybe MK/NSLU were too good value, but after getting the equivilant of a 50%/100% content increase for £11/£18 respectively, I hardly feel like £4.50 for a single character (price is for a download to both versions) is anything but a bum deal. Lozmaster Wrote:Stuffs I think Mario Kart 8 really just...lacked content. Maybe this is unpopular opinion, but it feels really empty in terms of features, like it offers less than previous installments. That being said, characters are a lot more intricate than stages. With a stage, you pretty much have the base assets available to you that are globally used on all stages, just need to make the quirks and scenery. You don't have to worry about balancing, because it's a stage. There's not a lot that can mess up if you're using the assets already present, so play testing and bug fixing aren't too intensive. With a character, you have to actually balance it properly with the rest of the cast, make a lot of assets from scratch that are required for their unique mechanics, and playtest for a lot of potential bugs due to new mechanics added to the game. You have to test how their mechanics function with all the other characters. Overall I feel like a lot more work has to go into creating a smash character than creating a stage in MK8. |
