How was your day?
Sn1perJohnE Wrote:I've had better. I had a price adjustment today, and the customer didn't bring in any of the items, and they were all Christmas items going from 70% off when she bought them, to the 80% they were now. After having issues where they weren't letting me return multiple at once because they were being hand entered, I asked my store manager to come out and help. Before he had gotten there, I realized what the issue was and told him what I think was going wrong. He, in a noticeably aggravated tone, told me he was going to stay there while I finished the transaction so that if there were any more issues he didn't have to come out again. Then he took the receipt from me to read me each number, but because it was a price adjustment, there were a few extra buttons to press in order to get the items entered, plus some of them didn't ring up automatically at the correct price. 15 minutes later we finished, and luckily the customer decided it wasn't worth it to do the other receipt because it took too long for what she would have gotten back. From the one receipt, she only got back $16.

Then about 15 minutes later, when the next cashier came on, my store manager told me to go leave early, which really is starting to piss me off, because this is the 3rd time in a week that I was sent home early. I understand not making sales and all, but you shouldn't punish the employees who need to live and survive off the meager hours they're giving us, especially when the store is being run with the bare minimum of employees as is.

TL;DR: some customers are asses, and manager is a bit of a plantain, and I need a new damn job.

You really shouldn't price adjust any seasonal merch when it goes on sale. Sales aren't applicable to prior purchases, if the customer wants to return all the product in hand and then rebuy it all after I restock it then sure but in my store I don't allow price adjustments like that en masse. One or two things? Sure but not a pomegranate ton and definitely not Christmas Sweep. Surprises your management let that happen, given that sales are really stagnant right now and that just more lost profit in the trash.

As for the being let got 15 minutes early, tbh 15 minutes does not save any hours. If I were you I'd see if there's some animosity going on and address it if it continues and try to solve it like adults.

As for me, one more closing shift then I'm done being an Night and Weekend manager and done with Michaels in San Antonio. This weekend I'll be moving to Austin and it still doesn't feel real ugh. I'm so nervous.

I'm gonna party like it's my birthday.

Because it is! It is my birthday!
(no actual partying will be involved)

So at some point during winter break, we had someone come in and move into the room that was empty all semester. Turns out, he's the biggest slob. When I left, I cleaned everything, so naturally I was surprised when I saw mountains of trash and dirty dishes in the kitchen. We barely passed our dorm inspection last time due to unexpected circumstances and we're on pace to actually fail it this time. Spent tonight cleaning up after his s'hit to the best of my ability Rolleyes

On a more positive note, finally got to meet all of my professors for this term and I'm getting positive vibes from all of them, so this semester might be an interesting one.

When I went skiing during the break I fell and hurt my tailbone, it hurt for around 3 days then I was back to normal.... well I started doing squats again cause I like em. Got to 135 easily and felt a sharp pain from my tailbone and stopped there, currently back to being in tailbone pain. Hopefully its nothing serious and will go away for good in a day or so.

Other than that my marks are improving steadily but very stressed for exams. Keep myself motivated by promising myself korean bbq and dimsum after exams Biggrin

I'm happier than I thought I'd be about Glee being back, the new series is awesome!

Also I've started exercising again and applied for Jobseekers Allowance, so getting my life back on track is working out pretty well so far :3

I had dinner with the girl I was "dating" the other night. I say "dating" because we've been going on dates. She spent a good portion of it talking about the dates she had been on from OKCupid and how horrible they were and how shes not really going to be doing the dating thing and focusing on school. Seems I gotta go back to looking for someone to really date.

Also don't know what's worse, her telling she's tired of being the one that initiates things with these guys (not me, I'm the one always texting her to try and hang out), her telling me about going on a first date with a cop who was also on a stakeout at the time and then flaked on her for New Year's eve, or her straightforward assumption that I was paying for dinner (I'm fine with it, but not when they assume I am paying for it Rolleyes ).

BACK TO THE TRULY SINGLE LIFE!

Why is she still on OKCupid, then?

No clue. She told me she had deleted it and tinder about a month after we had our first date. Here we are almost 4 months down the line and she's telling me this stuff, and about how her and her roommates have a board that they put each of their "relationships, talking to, friendzones, etc", and she apparently has the most people on the board.

Skyped with my Dad today.

He's excited to come up to Vancouver Island when I graduate.

Also told me that my stepmother was complaining about being here for a whole week as opposed to 1-2 days.

Ar-are you serious right now? If it's that much of an obligation she can stay in shitty Rockford, IL for that week and let my dad enjoy a stress-free week without her.

I guess some things never change.

But seriously, plane tickets are $500-$650 to get out here, why would you waste that type of money just to come for 1-2 days.

Went out to a restaurant with my dad and got asked if we were there for dinner or drinks.

Growing a beard was an awesome idea.

Today I finished my move to Austin. Over the weekend I went to Houston for my best friends birthday and got another tattoo, a delta symbol on the back of my upper arm. Very pleased with it, and excited to start out here in Austin. I have orientation tomorrow, then I can register for all my classes. I hope financial aid will pay out fast cause I am going broke and need money to buy text books.

Still doesn't feel real that I'm here, but I'm here now.

Completely registered for my first semester at UT, it says I'm registered for 6 courses but 2 of those are really just transition/seminar courses for transfers. Otherwise, I'm kinda nervous for this cause the rigor is gonna be a step up.

My sister was originally overwhelmed by the rigor of Texas A&M as compared to Texas State, but she got the hang of it fairly quickly. I have no doubt that you will do the same.

Weighed in at 173 this morning. Down from 182 at the start of break. Still trying to make 165 for my upcoming meet which is in a week...

Also, I had possibly the worst mulligan in the world in the last Hearthstone game I played--mulliganed Frostbolt, Polymorph for Fireball, Flamestrike, drew Spectral Knight turn 1. Couldn't do anything turns 2-5 really, kept drawing 5+ mana cards. I had drawn my second Fireball while getting beat down by my Priest opponent. Held out until turn 10, 10-dropped Azure Drake/Loatheb and won next turn with the double Fireball, Azure Drake/Loatheb 2 da face wombo combo (23 damage).

Loatheb is a great card.

Had a test every single day this week. Tomorrow are my last two tests before exams, I've done all my review now I just have to pray I don't mess up and get surprised by something. Almost at judgement week aka exams.
