This error has really got me paranoid. I think I might just not pick up the game until Nintendo fixes this. By the way, Nintendo is aware of the issue according to this article: http://nintendoeverything.com/some-smash...u-systems/
Also apparently an update came out for the Wii U just recently which seems to have fixed some user's error but not everyone's according to this SmashBoards thread.
Anyways, in the meantime, I advise everyone to be cautious before powering off your system since people claim that Smash saves during random times (like during the main menu) and powering off may corrupt some data. Close out the software then power off from the Wii U main menu. I've been powering off from directly from Smash for a while now but mainly during the opening cutscenes before the actual start of the game which may explain why I haven't encountered the error yet. Kind of grateful the game cuts back to the main menu -> opening after being idle after a while now since that's usually when I want to stop playing anyways...

Why would any of this "brick" the console? Trying to reformat the memory is what's bricking the Wii U. You guys are getting paranoid over nothing.

Soft Locks cannot "brick" consoles or do anything to the console. Soft Locks just cause the game to stop progressing and forces you to reset and that's it. The game doesn't actually freeze or hard lock.

If you're afraid to play smash, you may as well not play your Wii u since multiple games have been known to do this
Just take care when shutting down your console (I.E. close the software to your menu and then turn it off) and you should be fine

Sakurai Wrote:Pic of the day. Tomorrow, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be released in Japan! The players in Japan had to wait a bit longer for their release, but then again, they did get the 3DS version first. We were glad to be able to release this game in the Americas just in time for Thanksgiving in the United States.
Pic of the day has continued since E3 2013, and I would like to bring this series to a close today. A total of 384 posts and roughly 500 screenshots have been posted, and there's even more screenshots if you count the ones I've posted for different regions.
The origins of pic of the day was sharing one picture a day of the game in development inside the company. It started out just as a small bonus for the staff.
However, once we started sharing pictures with the public, it was a much tougher process. We had to be more careful to choose appropriate pictures to post while keeping a consistant schedule regardless of how busy we got, all while some people only wanted new information from my posts.
It's nice to finally be able to get one weight off of my shoulders. But, we promised to create Mewtwo as a playable character, so I can't relax too much yet. I hope you'll look forward to Mewtwo joining the battle!
RIP Pic of the Day.

Jawsome. I'm tot's up for a game with anyone whenever, I could use the practice. Though the time zone difference might be a hindrance.

My ups and downs are too awful to play smash online to any degree.
On another note. I've been noticing something with my copy of smash 4 and I was hoping some of the folks here could shed some light on it.
As I have stated before, I'm more of a casual smash player. I don't know those L-cancels and the wavedashes like all of you seem to. As such I started out playing the game against level 7 computers (no items) and I found that too easy, so I went up to 8s and found that so-so and then when I tried 9s I got my ass kicked.
Fast forward 2 weeks (or whatever it has been since the game came out on wii u) and I can now beat the pomegranate out of level 9 computers relatively easily (in a 3 stock battle I'm losing 1 stock most, but not all of the time). Did I get better at smash, or did the game make the cpus dumber for me?
Any insight into this would be appreciated.

You're getting better, also the CPUs have a learning function which allows them to be more of a challenge by learning what you do and acting based on what you do. However, the function isn't nearly as strong for the CPUs as the Amiibos are. I have several level 50 Amiibos and a couple can actually beat me and that's saying something.
Also, they're cancelling any remaining pre-orders for Wii U GC adapters from the UK, I pre-ordered several of them ahead of time but they cancelled my order. :x Fantastic.

If it helps, there should be several cheaper alternatives in Amazon.

Luckily I have one from the initial pre-order I made when I had bought the game but I needed 2 more adapters; one so we can have a 5-8 player Smash at the Club and a second one for a buddy who needs one.

Wow really? I'm actually learning how to play this game?
Looks like Amiibo is the door to difficulty 10+ then if I want to continue improving.
Thanks for the info!

No worries. Amiibos would definitely help you improve a ton from it learning what you do and then you would need to figure out how to get around it afterwards.

Apparently the Marth, Wii Fit Trainer and Villager amiibos have been discontinued, they aren't making any more.
And apparently the Gamecube adapter too, which is dumb as hell.

Really hope that's not true...more so for the adapters.
As my friend Tim put quite well:
Tim Wrote:They prob had to for the hard core gamers
Imagine how many pissed off people there would have been without that as an option
Which was his response when I told him we could still use gamecube controllers for the new smash game while planning when to meet up over the holiday break.

The gamecube adapter... I can imagine it was only made to appeal to the hardcore fans and they were only ever going to make a limited number
