Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion
Justin Wrote:Why is that a good thing? There was nothing inherently wrong with it in my opinion. It's not even hard to do, so there's no real argument for it being an "arbitrary input" that just adds pointless complexity like wavedashing or L Canceling.

what it did was increased everyones lifetime simply by moving the stick towards the stage, which lead to longer fights. its removal brought back DI, which tends to work on impact and must input perpendicular to launch direction to work, which is how melee and brawl worked.(in short, Vectoring: directing air movement in real time, DI: Changing the launch direction(so significantly smaller window for input for survival)

There isn't anything wrong with it persay, but its removal was similar to what happened with project m 3.02 to 3.5. people were living too long due to good recoveries leading to longer drawn out fights, which arent good for local tournaments.

If old DI is truly back, I'll need to definitely get used to it again. Frown

Not entirely, the guys on smashboards have tested it pretty extensively and it only made a difference of like 3% before death on most moves, you don't really need to DI at all if vectoring is truly gone.

People are already peaching about the prospect of Mewtwo being a paid DLC character for people who didn't purchase both games.

Of course they will, DLC is a sin and is bad no matter what.
"Content cut from the main game!"
"making me pay extra for a game I already bought!"
"why wasn't it included in the game in the first place?!"
"why isn't it free!?"
and then there are the people who take a moral stand against DLC of all kinds.

People are never happy. Sometimes it's justified since the gaming community has been messed around by games like Destiny or any game with on-disc DLC already in the game that is hidden behind a paywall.
A lot of the time though the people complaining are just idiots pure and simple.

True that.
I was very leery about DLC when I first heard about it (Just in general - not for this specific game), but I've always approached it using my own judgement to decide if the DLC is worth it's value to me as a consumer.

And yes, I definitely agree with you. As many consumers were already boned by the first few triple A devs to use DLC (I think the companies and games go without saying) DLC has gained a very negative connotation much like anything branded 'free to play' has.

Personally, I actually like how slowly Nintendo is approaching DLC. They seem (at least to me) to be testing the waters and seeing how interested their consumer base actually is in additional download content rather than just going all in and adding DLC to every game. It also helps that all of the Nintendo games that currently have DLC are completely enjoyable without the DLC (This is an opinion not an objective truth).

Yeah it's pretty widespread opinion from what i've seen that Nintendo games are packed with content. When the DLC packs were announced people were skeptical, but at this point people are singing Nintendo's praises and saying they are "doing DLC right" which I agree with.

There are always going to be people that disagree though.

It's going to be annoying since they will essentially be selling a download key: They have to make everyone download mewtwo otherwise online /local multiplayer becomes segmented. As sakurai claims to not be working on DLC, which I still doubt is true, then I do think it should be free for everyone. A single character just isn't worth much. and pointlessly segements the userbase.

Now, if it's a pack equal to something like mario kart (an expansion the size of half the game for about £11!) or hyrule warriors (somewhere between double and triples the content in the game for £13.50), then yeah, I could live with that.

But even being generous and only counting newcomers, that would mean they need 7.5 newcomers for £11 to match mario karts value (and that's not even counting the 2 new clones as "newcomers"). Hyrule warriors level of DLC just isn't going to happen. I have serious trouble imagining we get a dlc pack anywhere near that size/value.

They've done DLC right three times. They also did it horribly with fire emblem, NSMB2 and pikmin 3, so it's easy for it to go either way. Assuming it will be automatically good value is as dumb as assuming it will be bad.

There are a few videos I've seen recently that have a few good Toon Links in tournaments, but they were also previous iterations of the game.

This guy's pretty good, though.

Isn't that just two right arms? Looks like someone is trolling, or perhaps the assembler got too much molten plastic fumes.

The internet has already reached the conclusion somehow that if we all buy the samus amiibos, nintendo will have to make a new metroid game, so not first :p.

Is there any word on this from Amazon or elsewhere? Neither of the current Wii U bundles interests me enough to buy them just to play SSB, I can wait.
