Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion
Lisak Wrote:Sakurai on Clone Characters:

"This is like a free dessert after a luxurious meal that was prepared free of charge. In a restaurant with this type of service, I don’t think there’s anybody who would say, 'Change this to a meat dish!!'

Yet, I’m told [to do that] about Smash Bros. But, I guess since a lot of them are children, it cannot be helped."

It's quite likely that the original sentence in japanese had a similar message, but the tone of it probably didn't get translated... so be careful when emphasizing translated quotes.
For example, one such possibility is that the original sentence had the tone of:
"But I guess that since a lot of the buyers are young, they don't know about the specifics of working as a game developer and thus they don't see things from our point of view. It can't be helped."

Whereas the translated sentence sounds much harsher against younger audiences.... almost calling the childish instead of young.

It is obviously true that development time for a clone is far less than a new character, but the blatant favouritism in clone choices (the two new ones are from sakurais latest work and the one game he loved so much he did the iwata asks for it instead of iwata) is a little annoying.

Huh? Outside of Dark Pit, what clone is there that is based on Sakurai's favouritism?

I'm pretty used to playing Kirby. I'm not all that competitive, but I do play randomly against friends and for fun, but it's pretty easy to chew Little Macs out with Kirby. I find it though funny when they're not expecting much. Not my video, but I've sorta done this a few times myself.

Japanese version is slightly uncensored:

Master Side and Crazy Side.

English name is definitely Master and Crazy Orders. As seen in this video:

Top probably says "Special Orders".

I hope Stadium events are in again this iteration. I loved doing them in Melee... Not so much Brawl, because I don't remember a damn thing about Brawl, even though I have apparently 100%ed it(?).

The 3ds version has multi-man smash, target smash, and home run contest.

I'm talking about the specific challenge events, like the Giga Bowser event in Melee.

3ds has no event match.

3DS clock was offset several hours ahead.

After several attempts, I managed to beat classic mode on 9.0 intensity with Kirby, and it felt pretty satisfying. I went through it with a customized Kirby - made into a pure bruiser, with 2 decadent lollipops and a critical hitter brawn badge; +175 attack with critical hits but -154 defense. Being able to deal heavy damage and breaks shields very easily like that made me feel like I cheesed through the normal stages though.

Does anyone else doesn't bother taking abilities as Kirby?

I think it depends on the opponent. Most of them are fun to use like little mac, but I don't think they're all that practical for competitive matches. The one I'd find pretty useful is Shulk's monado arts.

I take all abilities when I'm Kirby.

Then again, I don't play him seriously; idgaf

Stage Builder and Board Game Mode have been leaked in the Amazon description of Smash Bros U.
Quote:Whether you’re creating stages on the GamePad, competing in challenges crafted by Master Hand and Crazy Hand, or outwitting your opponents in a brand new board game mode, there’s no doubt that the ultimate Smash Bros. game has arrived.
