Naruto Thread (Spoilers For Sure)
Even then, you only include the US and Europe. What about all of South America and Africa, and the rest of Asia excluding Japan?

If you have a suggestion for getting regional values for those places so we could compare them, I'd love to hear it, so I can do it.

In this topic: USA and the UK are the only two countries in the world.

Since I might be the one that sparked this argument here let me make something clear, at least for myself

When I said "most representative" I wasnt talking about popularity, I was talking about simply known by people. You can go outside and ask anybody what Naruto is and what One Piece is and there will be more people to answer that correctly for Naruto than there will be for One Piece. This can be for many reasons other than quality, like merchandise shipping around or Naruto making it out of Japan first or etc. the fact is Naruto represents anime more (not better) outside of Japan.

I don't see you putting any numbers for other countries, so feel free to do it. I don't know if amazon is representative of other countries.

looks like amazon.fr (france, duh) does like one piece quite a bit though if it is. (And fairy tail for that matter...)

As an aside I'm kinda impressed that fairy tail apparently has been doing so well as to consistently be near the top of these lists, but people never really talk about it as a biggish manga compared to naruto/bleach/one piece because it apparently doesn't do so well in Japan. Kinda weird.

I dont get how you guys are possibly arguing about this. Like who gives a pineapple

Just wanted to go back to this point and call it absolute bullshit. When is the last time anyone here has waited to buy the fucking american translated copy of Naruto OR One Piece? Popularity isn't just the amount of sales dumbfuck.

Frankly it's because naruto is about ninja's, while one piece is about pirates, which the western scene kind of stopped caring about since PotC, that and assassins creed. Plus the animation has always been unique to the show. Although one piece is also notorious for it's terrible funimation dubs, that also pretty much solidified it's problems. I mean seriously who censors guns for...frekin nothing, like bare hands, it was ridiculous lmao

To sum it up, JUST MAKE OUT ALREADY.

We all already know what Naruto and Sasuke think and feel like, and if they both know that already, why don't they just skip all the chat and focus on duking it out until one can't continue?. Sometimes you need to beat the pomegranate out of someone before attempting to bringing them back to their senses.

In my personal case the one reason it took me so freaking long to get into one piece was the drawing style. Its so... unique that well, it kept me away from the manga despite constantly hearing it was pretty good and I know at least one other person in real life who goes as far as hating the series for the same reason. Im sure there are many more around the world who haven't got into the series for that aswell and that might be one of the aforementioned reasons why Naruto is more known through the world than one piece.

Yep, and it's really unfortunate because thre animation style actually fits WELL with the story/atmosphere. My friend is a really really great artist, to the point where he won't watch log horizon because the animation is so, well in his words "lazy", yet he LOVES one piece since I forced him into it. Hell I didn't start reading one piece until about 2010? The only reason I started was because I hated how people praised it even though it looked so ridiculous. But I didn't have enough information to critisize it, so when I had the flu I just blew through it in a monthish time frame, ended up absolutely loving it, really backfired Rolleyes

Well, Assassins creed: pirates edition was only last year.

Honestly though, one piece isn't really about pirates at all other than the fact they own ships, whether that's a good thing or not is up in the air(I'd say it probably is).
I guess it failed at redefining "pirate" like naruto did "ninja" but then ninja was always a more campy silly idea anyway, which meant people were less attached to it then the idea of a "pirate" in the west where we've got tons of stories and films about them.

Yeah but the difference between assassins creed is, it's not specifically "pirate", it has a unique nod to historical events, although not entirely accurate. I mean that was my interpretation anyway. When I first saw one piece (on CN regrettably) I found it childish, the premise I couldn't even grasp as I didn't really see much of a purpose besides "OH TREASURE, big f`ucking whoop". And I feel a lot of critics who attempted to give a shot just couldn't over look this, even when investing some time into it, can't get into the momentum since one piece is by far one of the worst, if not the worst start up anime ever, but I'm glad it ended up that way

I realized I was 2 fucking years behind on the Naruto manga. I spent the last several days powering through from chapter 575 all the way to now (aka 695). Surprisingly, my brain wasn't that fried from all the power reading.

Honestly though, did anyone else think Kishi didn't need to escalate from Madara to a god? It was pretty much, "You were expecting Madara was the final boss, but it was me, KAGUYA!" Power levels of the show pretty much skyrocketed. Naruto and Sasuke are practically demi-gods.

Also, Plot no Jutsu. Plot no Jutsu everywhere.

Final thoughts as the ending draws near: JUST FUCKING plantain EACH OTHER ALREADY. <-- Unserious comment of course.

He didn't need MAdara at all either, should have just let him go when Itachi dispelled edo tensei, Obito with all 9 tailed beasts was enough of a final boss.

Really, It was all a extremely long route to giving sasuke a final power up to suggest he wouldn't be stomped into dust by naruto in a blink of an eye.

Actually Madara was much of a better villain than Obito was. Obito always felt... human, like just a guy from the village that had gone bad but could be talked out of his madness, specially after everyone found out who he was, but Madara was like this incredibly strong guy with a will and arguments unshakeable by all the talk no jutsu others could bring. I remember I fangasmed when he turned into sage of 6 paths due to how badass he looked.

It shouldn't have scalated into Kaguya, but Madara was damn fine.

I seriously seriously doubt that she will do anything useful. Even if she did what would it solve? They are both ready to kill each other and nothing is going to change who dies.

Another chapter of confusing fight choreography with meaningless flashbacks... at least they started fighting like real ninjas now instead of full blown out gods.
