v.154 – Sword Art Online Update Notes

beauty salon seems nice. wish it was around when i had the royal hair and changed to another to use up one of the free coupons

the hat sseems to be the feather, since it has only 10 all stats and not 12 like the cooler ones

but the Mr lee airlines. seems somehow reminiscent of malasia airlines. MR instead of MH ... Eek

SaptaZapta Wrote:Nexon, please raise the max character slots.
And while you're at it, please raise the max inventory slots!
So many nice items in the new events. But... *stares sadly at maxed, choked, inventory* what irreplaceable treasure will I have to toss out to participate?

this. more max slots. nex you can make money off this you know Biggrin

though now i just will prob make a new account for my new classes. and i have taken to doing each event on a diff char to avoid filling their inventory Tongue Tongue

Also consider the following, you can do the 1 day cs hat event on your mihile link skill mule

It's not a feather hat; kMS didn't even release feather hats for Blaze Wizard and Night Walker.

They converted this hat (from a CS hat, I believe?) into an event hat for Blaze Wizard.

Additionally, the guild skills which increase success rate of scrolls and adds a chance of not losing a slot now mention affecting Spell Traces.

Oh dang, I'll probably buy the perm Oz hat in the cashshop instead if it's that.

I find it kind of funny the main advertisement for this patch is that it's an anime tie-in and not the mention of a new class revamp or any of the other changes to the game. Seriously feels like "Check it out guys, it's Sword Art Online! Oh and I guess a new class. Whatever. No one plays those anymore anyway."

They added a bunch of daily quests which each reward 30 spell traces for partying up with specific players or doing other things, which I think is pretty fun, or different at least.
For example:
- "I hear Maplers in Henesys are some of the hottest and most popular." -> Party with someone in Hen with 100+ Fame
- "Who weathered the Tempest?" -> Party with someone who has a Tempest Ring equipped
- "Look for someone strong... someone you're not sure is man or machine..." -> Party with a level 120+ Xenon
- "Find those who are considered some of the strongest in Maple World." -> Party with people who are level 200+
- "Some people have found their own charms, but you can make them a superstar by giving more!" -> Fame someone who has 200+ Fame
- "Whew! That was a close one! Overcome your greatest struggles and show what a hero you are." -> Keep your HP at 5% or less
- "What happens to you when you're defeated? Only one way to find out!" -> Die

I dunno, I just think it's cool to have different quest completion requirements other than kill X monsters, get Y drops, or talk to Z

The SAO part really seems like a tiny part of this patch. No wonder they put it up front. People would otherwise miss it completely.

The notes don't say what the requirements are for the SAO medals, other than the Beater.

We're assuming they're the same as in JMS, but are we sure?

I'm pretty sure, here's the data for the Quest Helper regarding the event:

Name: [Sword Art Online] Clearer
In Progress: Clear the SAO Normal Dungeon 10 times to get the medal.
Complete: You have received the Clearer medal.

Name: [Sword Art Online] Premium Clearer
In Progress: Clear the SAO Premium Dungeon 10 times to get the medal.
Complete: You've received the Premium Clearer medal.

Name: [Sword Art Online] Beater
In Progress: Reach one of the top ranks for clearing the SAO Dungeon to receive the medal.
Complete: You've received the Beater medal.

Name: [Sword Art Online] Black Swordsman
In Progress: Defeat 3 different Normal bosses 5 times each in the SAO Dungeon.
Complete: You've received the Black Swordsman medal.

Also, it turns out that Black Rack thing from the Halloween totem event is a cash shop item. It's basically like a gacha box event, but with one free one a day, I assume, and the only rewards are totems.

The beauty salon feature was pretty expensive in most other versions, in our version we get it basically for free, with us only having to pay for the hair/faces ourselves and having the option to buy extra slots (though 3 sounds like more than enough in my opinion) and even then, that is cheap too.

It also doesn't sound like it expires either.

Nexon America took something from another version that cost NX and expired and gave it to us for free. This is awesome.

Quote:Beauty Salon System

Introducing the Beauty Salon system—now you can save your special hair and face styles to re-equip later!

You receive three slots by default, and can purchase additional slots for 2,000 NX. The slot expansions can be found in the Appearance > Beauty Parlor category in the Cash Shop. Store your current hair or face style in one of the slots. If you change up your look and want to go back to a previous style later, simply pay a meso fee to switch your current hair or face style to one of the stored styles.

This means I can actually create a crossdresser Asuna look for my char and change between that and my normal one when ever I feel like it!?!?!?!

Matters... in a sense that we get to see what classes have what stats and do what kind of damage. Interesting to see that Kirito has the strongest stats (idk about the story) that makes soloing dungeons a little easier... shall have to see the skills. I wasn't terribly happy with the Hiezan dungeon, when it made me have to pot almost endlessly when playing the 3rd character.

This pleases me, because I'll be using a low level character for this event. My future Night Walker that I don't bother training!

Ok that was unexpected. Them shifting the word selection things.

Also, you all are not going to be pleased at the number of "Flame Elemental expired." that pops up in your chat log if you rarely use Orbital Flame.

Ugh. Make sure to have lots of free ETC space before you go on Mr. Lee's vacation. About a dozen items that need collecting.

Opening the SAO box for completing the dungeon causes your client to crash, all i'm seeing is a black screen now but the client won't close.

EDIT: It eventually came up with a runtime error message and closed.

If you bought coins, don't use them until the issue is fixed.

EDIT: After logging back in though, I got the item from the box, so I guess its safe to open the boxes as long as you are willing to go through the crash every time.

I opened mine without crashing. Maybe it was the item that you got that made you crash?

Hot damn! Some of the monsters in Mr Lee's maps give alot of EXP for low level players. Like... I went from 20 to 30 in nobody's business's time. Especially the giant nependeath thingys.

And... am not liking the Flash Jump, because it has a Dark Sight effect. Grrrr

edit: I take that back. Mr Lee's place is where I'm staying till I get a 3 digit level. It's THAT GOOD. At level 38, a random nependeath can give me 5k EXP?
