Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion
Dunno if I'd be down for a 3DS tournament, only because I've not yet decided to actually get the 3DS game.

Wii U is another question entirely because while I'm certainly getting the game, I left the console with my sister and it'd be a pain in the arse to bring it back to where I live.

Multiplayer is not region locked. It was confirmed earlier. I've seen a lot of streams of NA people playing with JP people with little lag. Online seems good this time around so I'm excited.

To hear that there's little lag is great. I'll have to check it out later when I have some spare time to do so.

Maximilian did a video on the netcode and online for Smash 4. Pretty good listen since we're on this subject.

The WiiU version will almost certainly be better if everyone used USB lan.

And wasn't the reason Brawl was so terrible was because the games were hosted on gamespy servers? If Sm4sh is p2p, then it will be waaay better no matter what people say. Playing Brawl With Anyone with horribad framerate with 10frame buffer will make any connection seem like a godsend.

im pretty sure the netcode in general was just terrible to begin with. Yeah, the servers didn't help any but the game's netcode overall was pomegranate as well. They didn't really try too hard with it.

Sakurai on why ice climbers were cut

http://nintendoeverything.com/sakurai-ad...su-column/

Quote: He specifically addresses the absence of the Ice Climbers as well. It seems they were running in the Wii U version, but due to the required hardware power, the team couldn’t make them work in the 3DS game. There wasn’t as high a priority given to series that are unlikely to have another installment at this time.

pineapple the 3DS version then, just add them as an exclusive bonus to the wii u game. There's no reason the two should share the same characters anyway, they already have different stages, music and presumably modes.

Last sentence is utter BS too. Like Duck hunt is getting another game.

Yeah that doesn't make sense to me either. They could have included Ice Climbers as an incentive to buy the Wii U version and added a character exclusive to the 3DS version to balance it out.

I'm pretty sure they need to sell more Wii U's than they need to sell 3DS's.

That's a misinterpretation.

In what Lozmaster linked to it mentions that the trophy descriptions were written by someone on the Mother team. This is his trophy description since I didn't see it posted in the thread.

"Lucas used to be weak-willed, and cry all the time. However, he overcame unimaginable hardships, and must surely be out adventuring somewhere right now. Or perhaps, he's found a partner and made a family of his own... No, no, that feels too soon. To fans of the MOTHER series, both Lucas and Ness might be young boys for all eternity."

Lucas had a hard life. ;;_;;7

The 3DS ruined the Wii U version well over a year ago: http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php...ost1154673

Ok, now explain why Wolf and Lucas are missing.

I don't think he's really going to explain why wolf and lucas are gone.... maybe they just didn't have enough time and they were considered the least likely to be missed? I dont know. Hopefully DLC is a thing and they come back that way. :\

I have an idea as to why Lucas is gone, seeing as Mother 3 didn't garner a lot of positive attention from the Japanese Mother fans. Sad

[insert comment #6283 about how nintendo should have localized it here]

I am a tiny, tiny bit rattled that Mega Man's victory theme isn't some version of this.

Just unlocked Duck Hunt Dog...and...wow...what a weird character.

Apparently people have data mined the 3DS version looking for character data that isn't included in the base game, and either they were much more careful this time to remove stuff than they were with brawl or mario kart 8 (like people found thsoe 4 cups named DLC 1-4 before the announcement), or there really might be no DLC planned.

So apparently DI (Directional Influence) now works differently in that you can still change trajectory of where you're smashed (probably nerfed slightly, but it's still there) but you can also now change how far or how short you want to be launched, with this comes a new term "Vectoring" or Vector Influence.

More in-depth analysis in this thread: http://smashboards.com/threads/vectoring...-4.368780/

How do you guys feel about this? Many are complaining how it will drag out matches longer than necessary and others have even promptly relabeled the game as being Brawl 2.0 due to it apparently hindering SSB64-like comboing. I personally do care about this change since this will affect how people will play competitively, however, I'm willing to let time take it's course as people find more practical uses for it.

It's fun watching people flip out over a change that they haven't even experienced yet and are basing their knowledge completely on the write-up provided.

I think it will change the meta-game, but the people who think that it's going to completely destroy the competitive aspect of the game (and reading the thread, there's a lot of them) are wrong.
