Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion

I know that, but there's 4 weeks between then, and a week between before Black Friday. They could release on Black Friday, or any other week...but the same exact day is a bad idea.

That's a horrible idea. Why compete with yourself? Two extremely popular games being released by the same company on the same exact day has bad idea for sales written all over it.

If that's true, ORAS and Smash 4 Wii U will release in the same day (for NA anyway)

They did the same thing with 3D world and Link between worlds last year in America, so it wouldn't be surprising at all

As if a remake of a game is supposed to even be a big title that pulls people away from a brand new smash. (edit: Obviously pokemon gen 3 remakes will sell more, but I don't think the audience that will buy smash U and WON'T for a pokemon remake is relatively minor, whether that means they buy both, or wait for pokemon)

Pokemon and Smash are probably the biggest cults that nintendo has, they could release them all the same day with every next day console and still people would buy the ever loving sh`it out of those games

Sounds normal for Level 1 CPUs. Honestly, they are awful.


Question for everybody: whom do you all plan on maining/playing?

Potential mains for me are Captain Falcon, Falco and Robin. Not sure if I'll main them, but I'll definitely be playing Villager and Jigglypuff a lot too.

I don't see how you can choose a main before playing the game.

I've never played smash ~properly~ so i don't have a main choice rn. Lots of potential chars on my list:

Peach, Zelda, Toon Link, Kirby, Sonic, Rosalina, Palutena, Robin, Lucina, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer and Jigglypuff all interest me. Maybe even more i cant remember. Will just have to try them all out and see what feels good.

Easy, I can't speak for anyone else but if I see a character has made it in that I really like (Rosalina for example), I'm going to play them a lot whether they suck or not. I've mained Yoshi since the first game, so I don't have much of a reason to stop playing him now. Same with Peach and Falco.

It's not a matter of who would buy both games, but the fact that a lot of people are on gaming budgets. Whether they have bills or kids, a lot of people can't spend $100+ in a single week, even with Black Friday on the horizon.

Plus, with the 3DS version already out at that point, technically both games will be considered remakes by a lot of people, or at least neither a bigger priority than the other, especially when the Wii U hasn't sold so well.

I just won't be surprised at all if it ends up being that both games sold under expectations. That's all I'm saying.

Although I can see this, you also have to remember that both of these games have been on preorder for 2 months now (well 1 and a half), with another month on the way. Such budgets are calculated at a monthly basis, and these games are "must haves" for anyone interested in either franchise. Well save for smash bros because they maybe waiting on the wii u variant

It's all about your personal favorite, man. Not gameplay-wise, but just the character you like the most.

Mains/Play will for sure be Doc and Marth. Shulk and Lucina might be up there, but I'll see after the game comes out in the west.

Can't you switch the movement controls from circle pad to D-pad in the full version?

OT: I never really had a main, but I really enjoyed playing Captain Falcon, Kirby, Samus, and Lucario. I really want to play as Greninja, Mii Fighter, and ZSS.

Also not too keen on playing the 3DS version of the game based on what I've read and heard so far...
A bunch of my friends are getting it though, so I might end up caving and buying it eventually anyway.
