I'm 100% sure that's Game and Watch's hand. It even covers the outline of his profile picture's box.

if it was his hand going into wario's wouldn't it have the white outline on wario's picture? the crap quality blurs it but i can still see wario's blue shoulder and game and watch black hand?

I don't buy that character select image at all. It's too bland, too cluttered, and then there's the issues with the characters, like how G&W's arm is definitely inside of Wario's portrait. Plus, Duck Hunt Dog+Duck as characters? Really? That makes no sense at all, especially when dual characters were something they pointed out were giving them issues, why would they add another factor to that mess? In addition, that's not even a franchise I could see them be interested in reviving (unlike Kid Icarus when Pit was added). Bowser Jr. seems pointless and gives Mario way too many reps and that's before you include Doctor Mario as well. I'm not even sure who the blonde guy at the bottom left is at all. Add on the fact that clone characters aren't near characters of the same franchise, which makes no sense.

Plus, the top right post where someone quotes a bunch of DLC characters...didn't Sakurai specifically say he was against DLC characters? Even if he weren't, why would they already be planning that, when they still have the entire game to polish. I can't see Smash doing the typical release DLC bullpomegranate so planning DLC so soon is ridiculous (I suppose it's possible, though unlikely).

Not when the white outline is caused by the blending with his background, which is a greyish white. When it hits Wario's portrait it's no longer there, and the jacket of Wario's blue can be seen giving a similar effect where G&W's hand is. The problem here is that Wario's stache then merges into G&W's hand which makes it look like G&W is either pointing or it gets cut off.

G&W's arm is definitely not in Wario's portrait y'all are blind and cray.

(I can hold out hope for Bowser Jr and Pittoo though)

However, this brings back memories of the dark ages of Brawl 2008. I was so hyped up to play Smash online, it gave me the biggest hype in the entire universe to finally be able to play with people across the globe. Can you imagine how shattered my world view was when I actually got to play Brawl online? It was so laggy and terrible it made me want to break down and cry. I felt betrayed. It took seconds for my moves to register, some times it'd lag so bad that it'd take the entire match to do a few attacks. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection was the shittiest thing I've ever seen and it upset me.

I hope Smash 4's online is nothing like that or else I'll have mini-PTSD flashbacks.

I'm sure the 3DS online will be fine, but if there's an WFC to worry about it's that one since it's the first handheld smash. The wii u's online is sure to be fantastic because of the ethernet connector. I mean MK8's online is extremely solid already but that's not the best indicator since they're two different genres and two different gameplay speeds.

It changes colours slightly, the outline disappears (and no, it's not caused by the background around game and watch. Look carefully : game and watches outline is a few pixels of black, then the white line, then the same black that makes up his body), and the size of the dark area jumps at the boundary.

Yeah I'm down for 3DS release (and Wii U release) tourneys. Mario Kart 7 and 8 are part of the reason why I have some hope in online being good despite them being different genres. Namco Bandai was also 'hired' just for online so they're taking it pretty seriously. I hope it goes well.

Are you implying you think the leak is real, or you're just shooting down that specific argument against it?

But getting paranoid over nonexisting image crossovers is very tinfoilhaty.

edit: And MK8 being good online vs smash are completely different beasts, unfortunately.

MK8 covers it up if your connection drops for a second or so by making predictions on where the other players will have gone and then updates accordingly once you're back, same as MKwii did.

Obviously there's no way in hell they can do that for smash.

There's a lot more solid reasoning against it on smashboards, but i agree that specific reason is pretty dumb.

Yeah i recognized that they're not the same at all in the post. I had no idea the online worked that way though, that's very clever of them.

Regardless, the ethernet plug will help immensely. It will probably help MK8 immensely as well.

I don't think being DLC implies that you have to pay for it. Not like you would be forced to either, since i guarantee that paid DLC will not be tournament legal.

We already have proof that sakurai said that DLC is "not in the cards", anyway.

I can see how duck hunt would fit in terms of "we'll include characters that have major historical significance in video games" because of the whole pacman/sonic/megaman/mario thing, but not how it would actually fight.

The USB Ethernet helped Brawl but it was still terrible. At least the Ice Climbers I played online were never consistent with their chain grabs.

When you see videos of Japan's wifi matches you can't help but feel cheated... I blame the crappy internet we have in the US. Hopefully 3DS local play and WFC runs smoothly.

I know I won't. Already having to pay for the game + probably the gamecube port thing + amibos. I'm not buying the ethernet thing too.

I seriously doubt it won't be a bundle of some sort though. It seems silly not to anyway.

I bought a LAN adapter for my Wii U because wifi is a hassle at my place. It's served me well, MK8 online works ultra smooth, and I can download things to my wii u literally 1000 times faster without having to re-establish a connection to the router or worry about being out of range. Comparatively, it seems like you guys had a lot of fun playing online in brawl, in which you actually got to battle.... In my case I might as well have chosen home-run contest or training, because Sandbag was my only challenger......

I know without a doubt that they are going to make the online play as smooth as possible, or risk facing a horrendous backlash from the community.
