Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion
I feel like Lucina is probably a marth reskin.

Robin is a much better decision than chrom, calls the gematsu leak into question too, but only sort of because of chrom being his FS.

I'll be disappointed if Shulk isn't in

This will be my first Smash bros game since the original and was wondering has anything majorly changed since the original besides the spray of new characters at your disposal? All so what's the difference from the Wii U version & 3DS?

In terms of what? Mechanics? Gameplay? In terms of confirmed mechanics changes that we know of, smash4 has A LOT less hitstun than 64, meaning the time after being hit by something where you can't attack or do anything is reduced. One of the biggest changes is air dodging though. Shielding in the air causes you to dodge and have invincibility frames. In melee, you could move yourself in any direction while dodging which allowed for wavedashing/wavelanding and for some characters, better recovery. In brawl, you couldn't move in any direction after an air dodge, which is how it is in smash4. However in brawl, if you air dodged and hit the ground, you could hit the shield button up to 10 frames before you hit the ground then you will power shield and be able to escape attacks easy mode. In smash4, if you air dodge and hit the ground, there is landing lag, meaning you can't spam it and expect to not be hit.

The only differences between WiiU and 3DS smash is A) stage selections B) game modes (smash run is 3DS only for example) and C) the console it is played on. Everything else is exactly the same if i remember correctly.

You forgot one detail. From Melee and onwards, there's also a side B special attack for all characters. Not that important, but a bit more variety.

Lol, i think that change was more important than what i talked about. Can't imagine what smash would be like without side-b. Probably a lot less fun.

Sounds like a load of fun then! Can't wait to get my hands on this baby.

Thanks guy for the awesome informative posts

Wow, okay. Lucina...? Really? Not only does she still look like Marth, but from that reveal, she has the same Down-B.

Robin though. Wow, thought that was a slim chance but they included him/her. Too bad the Final Smash didn't use Grima; that would have looked awesome even if it broke story. Rolleyes (Or at least use Ignis).
The tome switching seems pretty awesome and they included Nosferatu for maximum trolling effect, hahaha.

Also lol'd when Chrom said his line. Poor guy.

I don't think counter was shown in the reveal. All we saw of lucina's moveset was nair, up-B, uair, oh yeah and dragon dance. All of them are similar if not exactly the same as marth.

Well, I probably fangirl'd it a bit too much in my own private time... still squeeling at the Robin and Lucina reveal. Heart

Keep in mind Lucina is the #1 most popular character in Fire Emblem: Awakening according to their polls, no way they could have omitted her... especially since Awakening is the best selling Fire Emblem of all time.

Also Robin's tome switching looks so cool. I'd imagine you could throw your tomes like an empty raygun or fire flower to have more projectiles.

If Nintendo did something like say... import your own Robin from Awakening (or at least have the option to look like Morgan), I'd probably be fangirling even more. Heck, I hope they add your personal Villager that links to your Animal Crossing.

EDIT: Concerning Lucina = Marth 2.0, for all we know, the moves shown in the promo might be the only moves that are similar to Marth's (hence why they showed them). Her smash/tilts could be wildly different.

Is it 100% confirmed that Chrom isn't in this game? even as a alternate look for another character like Marth?

He's not listed as a new character on the official site, despite him being in-game in the trailer. This makes me assume it might be an assist trophy. However, he also is only seen with Robin in the picture, which gives grounds for the other theory that he's part of Robin's Smash.

look at the smash carefully, those movements aren't something a player can do or that would be allowed, he is fairly certainly in robin's smash, probably because of the pair-up mechanics of FE:A

at the end of the video when there's the 4 FE guys, you can see lucina do it, going from memory. i think she did it at some other point too. also:

you can see the lifeline here and that it was ike who had just finished the attack, while lucina's just starting

Quote:Pic of the day. Along with Robin, Lucina joins the battle!! Her physical ablilites are identical to Marth's--it must be in her D.N.A. However, where Marth's power is concentrated in the tip of the sword, Lucina's attack strength is balanced throughout the weapon, which might make her easier to control. She's also a little bit shorter than Marth.

She's confirmed as a separate character slot too.

so lucina is essentially marth without sweet/sourspots with a smaller hitbox

One can hope that she'll have a different final smash. We'll see.

:O If they did that I wouldn't care if Robin is the weakest character of all time. I would main it for life.
