You're right, a prolonged alpha is useless BUT they didn't know it would grow this fast and aren't prepared at all for a beta. They have to bring up new servers, patch the game PROPERLY against botters and hackers, change the way people are connecting together in the game (there were a lot of issues in nexon era because of the peer 2 perr connection type, etc.
I would expect the alpha to close early june, and the beta to come out late june.

It does absolutely nothing for me. I ended up uninstalling the game and reinstalling the plugin, but it still isn't doing anything.

I haven't been playing for a few days now and this is entirely why. Ugh.

So... I had an old mule account for the original DFO, and I woke up this morning to a suspicious email login attempt. From China.

I think they took Nexon NA's word to heart and were not expecting anything out of this. They are scrambling to make up time now; now maybe overseas MMO companies will realize that NxA is fucking worthless, or at least start to question if they are really getting the profit margins that they could out of them. Ultimately, they ARE hiring people, so I think that means that there will be a real version, I just wish they would answer whether or not there will be a wipe plainly, because while it seems like common sense, them avoiding saying it outright is a bit offsetting. Unless they have some magic method of getting rid of 100% of the farmed gold and don't mind losing a huge amount of money because people are getting free avatars and cash shop items.

I'd be more inclined to log in if the Alpha was actually about testing and finding bugs, but seeing as it is a working build already tested by Nexon it seems a tad on the side of pointless.
If it is just an interest gague, they already have the answer they are fishing for. A prolonged Alpha will just give off the illusion of disinterest; I know I have troubles justifying playing at the moment.

I have this (probably) strange thought that there's more behind the Nexon bullshit than just, "Neople, if you think you can do it better than us then go for it! *whispering* Jackasses." It's probably more like, "If you can prove to us there's still interest, we'll give it to you," and then now they're going, "Ehhh I don't know...," in typical douchebag Nexon fashion. It may explain why they're being so cryptic, because Nexon hasn't given them free reign, so they don't want to promise anything they cannot fulfill.

I kid. It's a nice safety precaution, and it should be fine given China already has their own version of DnF to play. It seems to be taken care of pretty well (at least in terms of controlling hackers) considering it's under the eyes of Tencent.

So now it's a battle of legal issues. IF this is the case, it's incredibly dumb considering they pretty much abused and abandoned DFO and somehow still expect to have custody over the game after wiping everyone's data too. It's like Nexon is the bad negligent uncle, and Neople and DFO is the mother and adopted child (DnF being the biological child of Neople).

Nexon NA doesn't control pomegranate within the nexon company, though. If Nexon KR says they won't get it back, which, all signs would point to yes given the poster and the more obvious which is "businesses generally seek profits", then they won't get it back. They trusted NA's word that it was lack of interest even against overwhelming facts such as it being one of the most popular games in the world, and got burned because of it; I don't think that will happen again, for anything.
