I must give a 30 minute presentation, followed by a 20 minute one a week later.

Got 3 "outstanding service certificates" from the comptroller which is essentially 3 people who took the time to email him about their positive experience with me, most people in this building barely have 2, and I'm working 5 right now.

So I'm getting 3 days of admin leave for it, which means more vacation time!

Discovered the "Welcome to Night Vale" podcast. It's soooo good.
My first time listening to a podcast, always thought they'd bore me, but I'm just listening to it while playing Diablo 3. It's awesome.

Had to re-learn how to execute a python program today. Was a lot easier than I thought it'd be! Maybe I'm becoming more programming-inclined Glitter

I am working with the same Nuclear Physicist as before to run consistency checks on O16 (n,tot) cross section data by fitting experiments from nuclear libraries to two separate data sets that are considered high-precision.

...while taking 18 credits in school Eek I have another lab report to write on determining the g-factor of Hydrogen and Fluorine using NMR.. and I have no idea what's going on. Fun few days ahead of me.

So, I talked to my grandmother today. she's not doing too well. This past tuesday she fell in the tub and broke both of her arms. It was 4 hours before she was discovered by anyone. She was rushed to the hospital, and was scheduled for surgery today, but they had to postpone it til tomorrow.

Rejected from all five summer REU programs and all 10 NASA internship positions. I sent a friendly follow up e-mail to every single program, asking how to improve my application/why I was rejected. Every single place said I was way more than qualified, couldn't improve my application, and how it was "very competitive".

I don't get it. I was looking forward to spending my summer doing awesome physics in california. I went HAM with applications, starting them months in advance, refining and fine-tuning them. I've never wanted to do something so badly, and now I'm stuck with one month left of school and a failed summer plan A and B. I even had a letter of recommendation from someone who previously worked at NASA. Apparently that didn't help me.
I really hope grad school applications don't turn out similar. I have a strong feeling they might, since this was my last summer to do anything productive before I have to apply.

Lovely weekend.
I really didn't have time to be on the computer, and it was a nice feeling.

Bought a black and tan pair of skinny pants, and went to the ocean on Friday. Poked around the tide pools and watched all the little critters move around. The complexity of something like that just amazes me. Managed to get a nice photo, as well:

Saturday did a good amount of yardwork and planted more flowers. Stephen and I stopped by his work to get some sushi, and they gave us an extra roll for free. We walked along Cable Bay Trail and ate the sushi by the ocean and walked around there for a bit.

Sunday, more yard work and then a friend came over and we explored the mountain/forest just outside of our backyard. Came home and had bulgogi for dinner.
Today is my last class before I'm a senior :3 so stoked.
Also, I think my Dad is contemplating divorcing my stepmom, and I kinda really hope he does.
