God damn does this seriously have to play out in each of your individual states. Why can this country not just have a blanket federal ruling and save the cost and effort of fighting it 50 times. Is there something I'm missing that is stopping it?

I guess whoever helped to pass this ruling would lose the crazy church-goers' votes so they don't consider it an option.

Apparently the ruling has been "indefinitely suspended" or something, and the gay marriage ban is back in place.
