Bleach Manga thread (SPOILERS)
haha I liked this chapter for some reason. It was just fun. Sure it didn't really further the story any more than the other chapters have in the last 3-4 months, but this one was like a breath of fresh air (to me at least).

This was actually a good chapter, child instinct with a unique ability

Oh, so Kenpachi was coming after all. Yachiru was quickly put down before we got to see more of her, but I'm not too disappointed since Isane's comments hint towards more showcase of her zanpakutou, and her expressions/reactions to turning into cookies were acceptable.

Kensei and Rose are dead!

My gosh, Isane's faces this chapter. Wonderful.

I could imagine what could happen to a fighter who uses imagination, but since it's Kenpachi versus him, I don't really expect anything Rustyrose-like or Aurelous Izzard-like happening.

OH COME ON FOR GOD'S SAKE?

Everyone was clearly excited about Yachiru kicking some ass, then instead of building up on that hype you make the enemy she was fighting an illusion and all the badassery she showed into fake. This is the same exact thing that went up with Rukia and Byakuya in the previous fight and nobody liked it, then why the heck would it be ok in Yachiru and Kenpachi's case?

So many pineappleing Sternritten like Haschbalt or BassBee that could have fought with kenpachi, and you throw Kenpachi on a little kid...

These Quincy's powers are outrageous. Anything I imagine becomes real? GTFO.

At least Kenpachi is here to save the day

Wouldn't bach have all of these stupid powers in the end?

Well, that was a ridiculously short chapter.

Couldn't you imagine all kenpachi's strength gone, or just imagine him dead, or you know, just floating out in space or something

since kenpachi believes himself "unstopable" (think juggernaut's mutant power) for kenpachi to lose, V will have to nostalgia kempachi into remembering any time he's lost a fight.

i really dont see any substance to this fight, because if i could manipulate reality with my thoughts (professor x) why would i bother training my physical body? Thinking back to Aizen, and also Tousen, imo they both eventually lost because they gave up on their basic powers in lieu of hogyoku/hollowfied upgrades.

i hate to cross-genre again, but a willpower fight is exactly what green lanterns do. so it's not so much a power battle, as a talking battle of "who can intimidate the other first". intimidate -> doubt -> fear -> lose.

Kenpachi: lol I'm back
Gremmy: I'm da best
Kenpachi: nope

how many years has it been since ichigo first 'beat' kenpachi, and (after the fight) kenpachi asks his sword's name? for "completion of story development" dont we have to see kenpachi's bankai? insert classic shonen upgrade sequence

much more interested in the upcoming unohana fight flashback

Nah. It seems like it creates illusions, and they only become reality when someone other than the sternritter believes its real.

?

We already saw unohana fighting kenpachi, if that's what you mean. And I'd say he shouldn't have bankai, he only just learnt his shikais name, but pineapple any logic with bleach, if rukia of people can get bankai, I wouldn't be surprised if literally everyone magically got it overnight too.

This chapter was really bad to be honest. The fact alone Greemy didn't show his face after being cut in this chapter makes it evident next chapter he will stand up with a grim and be like "I'm sorry but this is way to easy for me" or something.

Kenpachi is on top of a list of characters people would like to see their Bankais. This is not about logic, this is about fanservice, considering this is Bleach last arc there's no second time to use this card than now.

Dumb logic for vague attempts at being impressive by giving out power ups at random like this is why the manga collapsed in popularity in the first place.

For all intents and purposes, seeing him use his new shikai abillity is no different to seeing his bankai as we haven't seen either ever before.

reread the fight unohana vs kenpachi ch 524-526; at the end it feels like she just gives up and lets kenpachi impale her, and then doesn't heal herself anymore. thats why i thought the fight wasnt over. my mistake.

renji was secretly training to get his bankai and surpass byakuya.
ikkaku has bankai around the same time as renji, and trains to surpass kenpachi.
ichigo cheated with urahara's do-or-die bankai technique (in three days), but also trained to surpass byakuya
rukia just recently properly learns her shikai as well as bankai with some secret training. her motivation is brotherly recognition.

i think we can pretend that since rukia is of royal bloodline, shes more chance to bankai compared to the others, who desire the strength to defeat their respective rivals. the others trained for much longer than her (except maybe ichigo who cheated).

i dont know if this was brought up previously or not, but i'm re-reading "ichigo's origin" i.e. mother & father history...
his mother is the last of her family of pure-bloods, but after being tainted by the hollow, shes not pure anymore.
ichigo's father says she died during the quincy fallen king's resurrection prophecy starting.
she had her powers absorbed and died in battle fighting KingFisher hollow.
Uryuu's mother was a half-blood, and also had her power taken. her weak body could not survive the process and she died.

here's my problem:
if the culling of non-pure-blood quincys took ichigo's mother, and ishida's mother, why didnt it take ichigo?
the king directly says to ishida, "you are the sole living survivor; you possess something that can surpass my power"
but soon its explained that ichigo's hollow, is the same one that attacked & became parasite to his mother, and was birthed on to him like dna (??)

his mother is part quincy, party shimigami, part hollow, part human
ichigo is part quincy, part shimigami, part hollow, part human
she dies, he doesnt.

hello plot hole

She isn't though. She was adopted into the Kuchiki family.

consider byakuya's four-great-noble-bloodline status. that type of person doesn't (isnt allowed to) marry a commoner.
he married rukia's sister, then found rukia after the sister died of illness. sure, its a stretch, but rukia's gotta have some edge for being the eternal (losing) underdog

It's not like you have a choice in soul society. Literally everyone is a commoner. The "4 noble houses" have something like, 2 actual blood members shown (Byakyuya and Yoruichi). Everyone else is a commoner.

And since the only job is "soul reaper" it makes much more sense for them to marry some random commoner who is less likely to get themselves killed than a random foot soldier, most of which have shown to be as good at fighting hollows as a regular human, forget anything actually dangerous.
