Twitch Plays Pokemon
Starting to appreciate these daily recaps more and more seeing as I'm not following Crystal as much as I did Red.

 Spoiler

EDIT: Can't wait for the anarchist bitchfest about how we had to use Democracy to pass the Ghost maze.

I wonder how long they'll be stuck at Morty...

We've made to the actual fight once with Democracy, but there's a bug with Democracy going on right now where the first vote will sometimes switch back to Anarchy regardless of the top voted command. Apparently the current strategy is to grind out pokemon until it's near Democracy and then go back to the gym for another attempt at the maze and fight.

Same here. I blame Diablo III. Rolleyes

Anarchy just deposited Feraligatr, which made it literally impossible to progress unless they either get him back into the party or withdraw Wooper and teach him surf.

Good job guys, you never fail to disappoint me!

EDIT: Apparently TPP has had enough of its own pomegranate and is trying to sabotage itself lol. RIP Prince Omelette and Wooper. There's talk of people trying to release LazorGator as well.

Im more surprised there are still people being drawn into this. How far along is the game at this point?

On our way to the Indigo Plateau / Elite 4. We defeated Clair and got the 8th badge along with the Waterfall HM.

I'm only somewhat still following this. I very rarely watch the livestream anymore and I'm mostly just reading the live update and daily recap videos.

Master Ball was used on a Goldeen earlier today. How the pineapple they managed to use it on Zapdos last gen is beyond me.

Helix Christ, 8th badge already on Day 7? Either Gen 2 is too easy, or less people/hourly Democracy mode allowed them to progress much faster. One thing for sure I can think of some reasons why Gen 2 run feels worse and why less people are on:

0. It's no longer a new thing/the first
1. It was too soon after Gen 1 was done to do another TPP. Heard some suggested a month or so of time
2. The lore around Gen 2 is far more down to earth/less mythical of military based characters than the Gen 1 larger than life gods and religion
3. Starter didn't get released
4. New Democracy mode is "subjectively less fun"
5. Muh lacking nostalgia (Red/Blue being fondly remembered more than Gold/Silver despite being technically an inferior made game)

Feel free to add your own reasons

I can agree with reason 0, and 1.
Gen 2 is notorious for being dumbed down and easy to beat, so no surprise they're all ready so far along with the playthrough given that.

Zero and one are the most believable reasons. The other four are pretty subjective. I mean, for me TPP:Crystal is just not the same as TPP:Red. It's the unneeded sequel to a movie and even though it's good, it's just not the original.

Democracy being an option from minute one (or rather hour one) also speeds it up a little bit. And even then it did take some ten hours to get through the Ice Path to boot anyways.

6. There's around 10-17k viewers at a time now, but supposedly only 1-2% of those viewers are actually inputting commands.
7. There's a lot more puzzles that rely on Democracy as they would be absolutely impossible on Anarchy, which is leading to Democracy being used to progress more often compared to Gen 1.
8. Johto gyms are closer and far easier. The "Challenge" doesn't start until Elite 4 and/or Kanto region.

G/S/C E4 are a complete fucking joke compared to R/B/Y E4.

Hence why he put challenge in scare quotes.

GSC altogether has much faster progression than RBY. And we had Democracy right from the start in RBY instead of just after spending a day on floor tile puzzles and like 12 hours on a single ledge.

Annnddd they just killed Suicune instead of catching it.
