Difference is that the Hot Time / Event ones are of limited availability (both in time and in quantity). And it's not like they're truly free - you have to work for them, and time is money.
Having the cash shop versions available, in unlimited quantities at all times, has its advantages.

I completely agree, honestly, some of the events feel like a chore to do at times, and with the forced 10 minute delay on quests, it's actually more money saving and time saving if i just sign up for 2 hours of overtime at work. That's 30 bucks after taxes and that gives me enough to purchase shield scrolls to prevent the mess in the first place.
Much better than grinding a "fun" event.

Reason why i love the hell out of the marvel machine, that was so worth the $/time amount than grinding the hell out of maple for the items...

I mean... You play 10 hours of maple or 2 hours of maple and 8 hours of a decent job.
Obviously you money manage for other points. But i hope my point is getting somewhat across.

I just wish the game wasn't so blatantly pay2win where the actual best answer is throwing money at your screen.

Forgot about those, or for some reason didn't consider them an 'event' when I was writing the post (which, stupidly, they are, though they should just be in the Cash Shop all the time anyway). Frown It'd be nice to have some sort of schedule at least, so we know that bonus potential cubes will be available, for example 3 weeks in January, then again in April/July/October, scrolls in February/May/August, etc.

It still confuses me as to why this format of random sales 'every so often' is preferred, if everything was for sale all the time, with intermittent sales (19.8k bonus cube bundles instead of the regular 24k nx price tag for example, or full priced scrolls and then the 30% off discount every couple of months), people would still save NX to use on the sales but also not get frustrated if they 'desperately' need to scroll/cube something before a sale is planned.

Or having to patiently wait to scroll bonus potential, since the only way you can is via cash shop.

You can get 70% Bonus Potential Scrolls from one of the Masteria exchange quests now, and they don't destroy on failure, so you can get bonus potential on your items for free. I think it's 20 of each type of badge, and it's a random reward, but it's a huge amount better than bonus potential being entirely cash exclusive.

2. We are continuously evaluating the events we hold and want to make sure we space them out enough to spare your wallets! However, we are also taking your feedback into account. i.e. you much prefer miracle times over the marvel machine.

3. The 'adjustment' to cube tier up rates is still something that we have no new info on. It's not forgotten though!

Other than what Mazz; mentioned, for selfish reason, I want another Philosopher's Book in cash shop back please. No Boom AEE and A nebs in Windia are hard to find now.
I'm sure some other people would love to have this also, with tyrants everywhere now.

Exactly this. Clean slate events take way more time to collect than I can allot.
Better yet, have more events that give shield scrolls/protection scrolls as rewards like BF shop or RED shop. Hands down the best rewards from an event, ever. Or the candy point event. All cash scrolls should be obtainable like that every once in a while.

I agree, the stuff that I need to scroll my gear the best that I can really isn't easy on the wallet.

of course, but they're both pretty rare, with the CS ones being even rarer than the events i'd say.

It's part of my OCD, i always compare things to the amount of money per unit of time. A side effect from a poor background and my personality.

Imagine waste not, want not. But with time.

Also don't get me wrong, i enjoy the hell out of the game, it's just my perception of things... Is different from most.

Official post on Miracle Time: http://maplestory.nexon.net/news/events/...ents/00Hfc

If you've been searching for ways to boost your power, you’re in luck! This Saturday is all about making you stronger through the mysterious power of Potential.

Cube away from 12:00 AM - 1:00 AM and 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM during the Double Miracle Time Event for a chance to raise your rare equipment's rank TWICE with one cube! This means you could jump from Rare to Unique!

Potential is a nifty system that allows you to add bonus effects to your equipment to make it truly heroic.

Details:

Double Miracle Time
Saturday, March 8, 2014 12 AM - 1 AM Pacific (3 AM - 4 AM Eastern)
and 3 PM - 4 PM Pacific (6 PM - 7 PM Eastern)

Check the top of the screen for the scroll message and the Double Miracle Time notifier at the left side of the screen.
You will be able to see Cube icons that appear on the top of the screen during Double Miracle Time.
During the event, you’ll have a 2x rate of increasing your potential’s rank through Cubes!
Also, some of the luckiest players will be granted a Double Miracle Time Blessing after successfully increasing rank TWICE! This buff will allow everyone in the map to receive Weapon Attack +30 and Magic Attack +30 for 15 minutes.

60 Black Cubes, one tier up.

I had better luck with Super Cubes. :/

The rates for this cube time are complete bullshit. Over 60 black cubes, not a single rank up. I'm calling this a scam. Every friend of mine is having similar luck.

61 meister cubes and no rank ups
36 black cubes and no rank ups

50 bonus cubes:
secondary, emblem, shoulder all jumped rare -> unique. most cubes were spent getting good stats; they jumped fairly easily.

45 red cubes on unique, no rank up
12 black cubes on unique, no rank up
41 Carved Slot Cubes: 1 Rare->Unique (Gun), 1 Rare->Epic->Unique (Secondary wep), 1 Rare->Epic (Emblem)

I wish I just invested all my NX in Carved Slot cubes. I probably could have gotten my Emblem bonus pot to unique too.

22 Red cubes, 33 black cubes and 11 super carver cubes. Only rank up was one bonus pot from rare to unique using the 11 super carver cubes.
